So glad to come across this video. I live in Kelowna and would say it’s the prettiest place in Canada! Sprout coffee shop has the best bread around town! And you stayed in a perfect location, close to downtown and beaches! Parlor ice cream shop is the best as well! As for the apartments that are being built, we have extremely low availability for an apartment rentals and to fix this issue, the city decided to start building apartment buildings. Hopefully it will help with rental costs and availability. It is truly a very beautiful place, I wish you had a chance to go to Kalamalka lake, with deep green and turquoise waters… It is surely a place, where you can do skiing in the mountains and golfing in town the same day and be surrounded by wineries anywhere you go True Canadian gem❤️

another reason for all the high-rise construction is the agricultural land reserve. Kelowna was settled because of the Okanagan's micro-climate that made fruit orchards and tobacco farms viable - the only other location in Canada being the Niagara region of southern Ontario where this was possible. The vast majority of the area now covered by Kelowna's urban development was once agricultural land occupied by orchards and farms, and in order to preserve what remained of this prime agricultural land after decades of unrestricted development the existing agricultural areas are now protected and can only be developed for other purposes under certain conditions.

Safe travels. Great video, wishing you and your lovely family all the best!!! If you ever get a chance to head to Northern BC, out to the Coast (Prince Rupert) and then take the inside passage back down to Vancouver island or Seattle) you should do it. It's a fantastic voyage, driving north to Rupert on Hwy 16, then south via Ferry to Port Hardy, drive the length of the island and you're almost home.

Ok the logic about the beach being busy is not true. Try swimming in bay area or monterey, both of which are significantly more south and colder than swimming at a beach in Vancouver. Also, that particular beach referenced at the start is on a lake. The water temperature for individual lakes varies wildly.

Kelowna is not building up for the teasons you stated it us building up because the demand for housing is great. people want to move from the over crowded bigger cities to a smaller town / city. Also people moving from thecold east to a warmer climate. It does get much hotter in Kelowna- 35-40° C it hotter. There is so much in Kelowna that you didnt see like know mountain and Paul's tomb. Lake country beach winery restaurants fruit stands all water activity like boating ,skiing paddle boarding etc. you'd need a couple weeks to see it all
@GeminiDiscover5 ай бұрын
The biggest reason Kelowna is building is that there is a massive real estate bubble in Canada. Check out how many homes are sitting unsold in Kelowna for months
