Gemmy 2004 Electric Monster - “Monster Mash”

Re-upload because he’s been totally re-restored since the last time you’ve seen him.
In case you don’t know, this is actually fully working. Yes, it does have the exact same module as the electric cat, complete with gearboxes to run the hands and hair… but no motors or programming to make them work. I don’t know why, and I probably never will.
Obtained: eBay for $65 on October 12th, 2018. I know that’s a ridiculous price, but I’d been looking for years for one to go with my electric cat.
Repairs: When I first got him, his body shell was shattered and he had a snapped arm. I fixed both of those problems very poorly, and over time he broke down again. It wasn’t until last year that I went back in and restored him properly. I put a sturdy metal clamp around his body shell, and made him new arms. I also sewed the shirt back in place, re-secured the fabric around the hair, and added some stuffing.

Its been said a million times, but god, this would be infinitely better with the same movement as the Electric Cat. Seriously! It's even built that way! They just need the motors in there and the LED eyes! It's perfect for him!

Totally agree! I don’t know why they did that. Are you sure it wasn’t a factory error? If it wasn’t, then that really sucks. Oh well, what are you gonna do? It would’ve looked so much cooler with that movement.

Exactly!! This was obviously intended to have more movement originally, and it’s such a shame they had to cut it out. Adding motors to those empty gear boxes would make this thing a solid 10/10.

Completely agree with you! They should make a new one in the future with that movement, if they have enough money to do so. That would be so cool!

I can tell you why he doesn't have the arm movement. He was originally intended to have "I got the power" but they couldn't get the rights so Monster Mash got shoved in instead. But there's no real way to program the arms to monster mash, just doesn't make sense. also probably a cost cutting measure to an item that's potential got stifled to begin with

Yeah, thank you very much for the information. it’s very helpful, and it makes sense. It would’ve been cool for the item to sing I’ve Got the Power, since it would’ve been fitting for the name of this guy, Electric Monster. It’s too bad they didn’t get to have the rights for that, and if only they could’ve used that programming anyway. I guess there could be a way to use programming in the song it has now, but I’m not sure how they could have programmed the movements of the hair and hands to Monster Mash. Where did you hear of this information? It’s pretty cool.

Also it probably would’ve costed more if they added motors to that programming, or even if they added the components to the circuitboard that made it work. This is just my guess, but they probably were on a budget to make a bunch of these, so they just decided to leave the gearboxes as they were. And if they created the electric cat with that programming this monster was supposed to have, they must’ve decided to spend more money on that and unfortunately leave the electric monster as is. but honestly, who knows what happened? I’m only guessing lol.
