Thanks for another great tutorial! I followed your directions and installed Eibachs on my 19 this morning. I went full steam and used spring compressors to switch the coils too. It probably took as long to switch the springs and to pull and reinstall the shocks. I barely had the energy to torque the lower shock bolts to 250, but got there in the end and happy with the results... Thanks for the help!

I know a little late, but removing the brake, and abs brackets from the spindle give you plenty of room for just letting the spindle rest off the side, and for next time you swap out shocks, I use a motorcycle tire iron, but the oem ford wheel nut wrench works as well, because of the plastic sheathing and hook on the end, use the hook to grab a coil off the spring, on top of the upper control arm to pull it down so the upper ball joint effortlessly inserts into the spindle. You can also, use some force to hold it down to prevent it from spinning! and, last one, I have always found that removing the lower end link bolt from the control arm is easier on the ground than it twisted up and in the air, until you remove it of course! LOL!

@KeepItDirtyOffRoad Жыл бұрын
We can do a shock swap on both sides in just over an hours these days. But if this is your first time plan for at least 3 hours, ball joints will get stuck and a take a while to come off. Shock bucket bolts will take a while. And then the spring swap swap. Don’t use the traditional window makers here. They will not be strong enough. Work with a shop that has a proper wall mounted spring compressor and bring in the shocks for them to swap.

Waiting on my Eibach's to arrive. I was reading on Raptor Forums that a lot of people change Camber Bolts in order to also fix Camber Alignment while doing alignment after installing new Eibach Springs. What do you think about that? Is it needed?
@KeepItDirtyOffRoad4 жыл бұрын
Wojciech Gierczynski YES!!!! I did it to mine last week after installing the springs. The new springs improve confidence and allow you to run faster. But the slot at the bottom moves too much to alignment literally only last a single run. Only fix is Caster Camber locks. The bolt with the washer. I did it on my last truck and I went from monthly alignments to once a year after I did something really stupid. I have a kit linked on my amazon page if you want to check them out. They are a must if you plan to offroad. www.amazon.com/shop/heliomuro

@@KeepItDirtyOffRoad thank you so much. Do you need only one Kit or two? I am new to this thats the reason I am asking. Also is this kit good for 2019 Raptor and does it require DRILLING (that what it states).Thanks again
@KeepItDirtyOffRoad4 жыл бұрын
Wojciech Gierczynski you need 2 kits, one per each side. The key applies to all 2017-2020 Raptors as the Lower Control Arm (LCA) has not changed. I got them from my alignment shop directly as they can get them quicker and had them do the whole thing so I didn’t have to drive the truck all wonky to the alignment shop.

Wojciech Gierczynski yes they did. The kit comes with a template to drill a small hole to lock the alignment cams. Fronts are already there and I think it’s only the rear bolts that need it.

Hello bud, doing eibachs on my 18 Raptor, question is if I remove the wheel plastic shroud on passenger side would I have better access to the three bolts on top. I would use the 18mm flex head wrench, and is it just clips and the small bolts on the plastic flares to remove the wheel well liner.
@KeepItDirtyOffRoad3 жыл бұрын
It would help, but very little. Mainly it helps get your hand clearance so they do t get all cut up. But the actual access around the shock bucket, specially that front bolt that’s towards the back. That one is super tight. It would mainly improve access to the other 2 bolts

SoCal Trail Trekkers I won’t use them. The Geisers on the Gen2 raptors are super stiff and even with the larger spring compressor from harbor freight. We could not compress them much. And only takes them 30 min rather than a whole afternoon for me.

How do you like the Eibachs after some time with them? And do you know what the height is on the front from the ground to the wop of the wheel arch? I recently installed Icons on the rear of the truck and I'm tying to decide between Eibach and Geiser. Thanks for any input you've got!
@KeepItDirtyOffRoad4 жыл бұрын
Spring choice depends on your focus. If you mainly drive on the street with only some off-roading, or do you want to explore the limits of the truck off-road. I've ran both and there is a lot of bad info on both. unfortunately neither release info on springs rates and makes things worse. My consensus, and will be putting in a video soon, if your main focus is street and light offroad, Eibachs. If you want to go hard offroad, Geisers. Each springs has their pro and cons but they are tuned very differently.

First off...your wife seems to be an absolute jewel..please take out to dinner or shopping! a NOTE: that lower shock bolt torque is actually 420-430 ft/lbs...find the baddest impact you can find and tighten it more. Another trick to removing those taper joint nuts is a good sized pry bar with pressure on the top of the tie rod/control arm to seat the taper temporary and hit them with the impact. My last "trick" is to loosen the lower control arm pivot bolts, and you won't be fighting the arm removing/installing the shock. After the truck is back on ground at it's new ride height then tighten them back up. I mark the alignment cam so when the truck is back on the ground at it's new ride height you can then tighten them back up at the same cam setting. I was busting out laughing at the end! Thanks...
