Meh, most of the slang will die out anyway, since as the new generation grows up, they will make their own slang to differentiate themselves. There's nothing new about that, 90's slang and weird speech quirks also went away. No teenager will unironically say stuff like "that's like, totes rad my dude" anymore. I know it's meant as a joke, but, yeah, sounds great if that's what it takes to get people to read the Bible. There've been so many translations over the centuries to spread the Word to new generations or communities. The verses he's translating I kind of think some of it might be BETTER as a way to look at it than what we were taught. "Store up your riches in Heaven." It wasn't about wealth. It's about doing good for its own sake to make God happy. I'm partial to King James Version personally, but I'm a huge nerd and was born in the 80s.
