I approached a veteran girl I liked and really really looked up to in college once. We exchanged numbers. I tried making short talk to get to know her better (in all fairness I was a bit insistent, but I had that kind of crush that makes you somewhat of an idiot). She gave only short meaningless answer like 'ok', so I give up after a while. A few months later I find out she told everyone in a groupchat I was a creepy weirdo and told people to avoid me, and for that reason no one invited me the the social activities our course usually does, essentially killing any chance of me having a social life during my college years. Still hurts to this day. So yeah, it gets a lot worse than 'no'

Social media has really made people delusional on how a relationship works. Videos on Tik Tok showing relationships through rose tinted glasses where there are no problems, no hardship and a magical experience. No, relationships take a lot of work, communication, compromise and the occasional clash but it is worth it in the end. People who grew up on social media will now find it difficult to deal with real relationship issues so when it happens they’ll often end up leaving because they don’t know how to handle it. Before social media, you had to go up to someone you liked and actually talked to them and find out who they are and if you like them. Dating apps has created a lazy and less authentic experience where you don’t have to put effort to create a conversation.

He’s a wonderful person, and I love my bf, eventually after being friends for many months, we took the relationship to an official dating level, while we where still friend, he still took me on dates and we did stuff together, but he never pestered me to change the arrangement, he’s always been there for me! So I consider myself one of the few lucky ones, to actually have found a great match, and a loving healthy committed relationship :3 I think a lot of people struggling in the dating scene could make more progress if all parties where more honest about what they where looking for and what they are comfortable with!

I will say this, as a woman with social anxiety as well as trauma with men, I HATE the idea of having to turn down a guy if he were to be hitting on me or asking me out. The reason is the fear of what the response will be. Most guys would probably accept the rejection and move on but unfortunately it doesn’t always work that way. There’s going to be that person that won’t take no for an answer, that could keep harassing you. Wait for you outside and follow you out to your car or worse… I understand the fear of coming off as creepy and losing social points, but there are WAY worse things that could happen than “people might say you’re creepy!”. And of course it goes for both sides not just the men. Otherwise there are valid points made, great video.

yeah, I feel the same, even though I remember my last gf pretty well (but I had to break up not to be her free-of-charge psychologist), I guess it's not that bad to live alone and not give a F to all those "icks", "dating trends" and all that "social" media crap.

There will always be someone who fits and pushes a stereotype, and there will always be someone who fits and pushes another stereotype judging that person for being stereotypical. Eventually these stereotypes get recognised less as stereotypes and more as normalisations, until they become normal and what was once normal will be a stereotype. You get me?

The "ick" that impresses me is "have a mother" as if you need to be an orphan. Evidently they want you to be hatched from a celestial egg that floated down to Earth from heaven.

The dating apps used to be great. I’m 48. Zero issues getting dates / laid. I’m fat, broke but I can talk to women. I used to get tons of matches. Now I only get matches in the first 48 hours of install of app. I delete and remake my profile every couple weeks if I want matches. It works. However I’ve been flying solo for about a year. Working on me

I had a friend in middle school, she was a year younger than me, "Eva." I had a crush on her back then but didn't start trying to date her until we were both in high school. Between classes, at lunch, or after school, if we weren't talking she'd smile and wave from her friend group. Her friends always glared at me, like I had done something wrong. Fast foward 2 months later, and I end up chatting with her girlfriends. One of them told me that Eva had told them that I was trying to rape her. I was disgusted, and horrified. I thanked her friends for telling me the truth, and I never talked to Eva again. Girls are insane, and no real man will ever give you grief for not talking to them.

With the couple pranks, icks, and gender wars combined, I don’t think I’m ever gonna achieve my goal of being a father. Gender wars alone are already bringing us back to preschool when we thought the opposite gender had cooties. What a time to be alive. Our ancestors fought for this 🥲
@spongebobfan190Ай бұрын
You hit the nail on the head with this one. Most people didn't grow up mentally, just physically, and as a result, concepts like "cooties" were simply replaced with things more in tune with the adult world ("all women are gold-diggers"; "all men are predators", just to name a few). Edit: *SOME* people didn't grow up mentally. It's merely the loudest ones that make it seem like it's a common thing.
