Agnetha and Frida had solo songs, but their united voice, like on this song, was a miraculous thing. They blended perfectly. Frida’s voice was lower, so she adds power to the lower parts of the song, and Agnetha had the higher voice, adding richness when they sang high. Put them together, and you get songs like this with ridiculously wide ranges. And remember, no pitch correction in 70s! They just sang amazingly in tune.

Abba pioneered the video clip. Agnetha had young children and didn’t want to tour so much. The video clip was perfect to get their faces out there. Lasse Hallstrom was the director of their clips. He made movies like ‘chocolate’ , ‘the shipping news’. The cider house rules’ to name a few.

I became a fan of Abba in 1975 when I heard SOS and Mamma Mia. And I've loved them ever since. The incredible thing about Abba is that they broke up in 1982 after just 10 years as a group, and then 39 years later (in 2021) they came back and put out a new album. And they sounded as great as ever. A fantastic song from that album (called Voyage) that you could do is Don't Shut Me Down. Also great from that is I Still Have Faith in You. Hearing them come back was so emotional for me. And it gave me a hopeful feeling that had been missing. Other classic hits I'd recommend would be Knowing Me Knowing You, Mamma Mia, Voulez-Vous, Take a Chance on Me, and the Winner Takes it All. But there are dozens more. I hope you keep going with them.

Dancing Queen did what it said on the tin, it got everyone up and dancing in discos, at weddings, at parties. Tbh that's why we loved Abba, they made music that made you smile and feel good. They also did some amazing slow songs, like 'The Winner takes it all' which was done when Agnetha (blonde one) and Bjorn's marriage was ending. The group ultimately split because Agnetha didn't like being away from their children and she was never comfortable with all the fame and attention.

I´m Swedish and I grew up with ABBA. My first music album ever I got for my 7th birthday, was with them. My sister and I used to sing and dance in the living room with the skipping ropes as microphones. I was always Agnetha as I´m blond and my sister Anni-Frid as she is a brunette. I learned a lot of English from their song texts :) My favourite song was "Thank you for the music" as the lyrics really spoke to me.

great song from a great band and a great reaction. love me some ABBA! yes these were 2 married couples from Sweden. the red head/brunette married the pianist and the blonde married the guitarist. the name ABBA come from the initials of their first names Agnethea blonde girl Bjorn guitarist Benny pianist Ani-Frid aka Frida red haired girl the guys wrote all their songs and played many instruments and did back up vocals. the girls bothe had fabulous voices especially Frida who was trained in opera and jazz. they took turns on lead songs or as in this one harmonized together. that was often called ABBAs third voice. no one harmonized like Frida and Agnethea.. and yes especially Frida loved to dance and move on stage. she took professional dance lessons 5 days a week and her teacher said she could have done it professionaly. please do more ABBA. try one of their other hits Fernando, Money Money Money, Name Of The Game, . remember there was no Mtv or anything like that back then. these videos were called promos to promote their albums. they were one of the first to do it.. As a teenage boy in the 70's was my guilty pleasure. Abba wrote and sang so many songs it hard to pick a favourite. Prefere their later (darker) songs than the early pop dancing tracks. No "teeny boppers" but two married couples, that later wrote songs about relationships, their breakdowns and their failure. They were VERY real. Simple sounding music, that was always much more complex that it appears - and always with the "hook" that sticks in your brain. A unique sound that is unmistakable. They wrote songs that resonated with people around the world - and still do. You really should check out more - Chiquitita (for UNICEF), Winner Takes it All, One of Us and a personal fav "Andante, Andante".

Abba gained widespread popularity with several hit songs, and as dance music started to rise, they decided to join the trend. Their first foray into the genre was "Dancing Queen," which is now regarded by many as the greatest dance song of all time. Later, after their breakup, they produced what is often considered the greatest breakup song ever.

Disco was entirely about dancing. It was an almost all-consuming explosion. In fact, the later rise of Acid House and, indeed, what goes on today, feels almost parochial by comparison. Incidentally, this track was inspired by George McCrae's huge 1974 hit 'Rock your Baby' - which is worthy of its own reaction.

I'm sure it's been in multiple movies over the years (it's a very popular song) but if you've seen Mamma Mia, it's in that. As a matter of fact all the songs in Mamma Mia are Abba songs. They took something like 18 (?) of their songs and created a storyline for the musical based on the songs. I never watched the movie but I saw the musical a couple of times in the theater and it's a really fun show. And the soundtrack is of course great.

Love ABBA there’s so much great music to discover here. With respect to choreography in music though it was much earlier, 50’s & early 60’s being the golden years with R&B groups and Motown incorporating choreo that became so important that every new hit included new dances that everyone learned. Shows like American Bandstand & Top of the Pops in the UK brought the performances and the dances to the public. Too many amazing groups to name but great examples start with Frankie Valli & the Four Seasons, Diana Ross & the Supremes, The Ronnettes, The Marvelettes, Smokey Robinson, Martha Reeves & The Vandellas and The Temptations to name a very few. Look at the history of Motown records and see the originals that influenced what we listened to and how we dance to this day. The story of Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons, a kid from New Jersey & his friends becoming superstars with innovative music & dance moves is also fascinating and spawned a hit Broadway Musical, Jersey Boys.

This was a transatlantic No.1 (the only time they made serious headway in the US), but they were much bigger in Britain - scoring 9 chart-topping singles and 10 No.1 albums. And yet, for all that, they seemed to have zero 'cool'. If I talk to older cousins, they are almost contemptuous of them. But the stats talk for themselves.

Remember that ABBA is the iconic Swedish pop quartet, the best, most versatile and most important of the 70s, in the post BEATLES decade (the revolutionary group of the 60s) ABBA, as in its time BEATLES, was a musical and cultural phenomenon, and its legacy lives on remember that ABBA is an acrostic with initials of their first names; initialy They was two couples: A- Agnetha (blonde lead vocal) & B- Björn (guitarist and songwriter) B- Benny (pianist and songwriter) & A- Anni Frid (brunette lead vocal) (both couples separated before the breakup of the group in 1982) "Dancing Queen" (1976) is a beautiful song, which shines in the loftiness of its vocal harmonies the blonde singer Agnetha is soprano voice, the brunette singer Frida is mezzo soprano voice, and blending together made the famous and fantastic 'third voice of ABBA' And the music is bright and enveloping, from the initial chord it introduces you into the atmosphere of the disco and invites you to dance English public has voted it as one of the songs they want to hear the most, because of the feeling of joy and energy it gives them (another is "Don't stop me now" by Queen) And in 2015 "Dancing Queen" was included in the Hall of Fame of Rock and Roll music ABBA recording between 1972/1982, have a wonderful series of more than 20 worldwide hits (and also 50 another great songs), included nine #1 in UK: Waterloo Mamma Mia Fernando Dancing Queen Knowing me knowing you The name of the game Take a chance on me The winner takes it all Super trouper And after more than 35 years ABBA return to studio in 2017 and recording a full new album "Voyage" between 2017/2021 released in November 2021 and is a worldwide succes ABBA begin to be famous in 1974, when They won the Eurovision Song Contest in UK with their iconic song "Waterloo" Last April 2024 was their 50th anniversary and Eurovisión gives a tribute to ABBA and Waterloo Muy suggestion Is to react the live perfomance of ABBA ay Eurovisión in Brighton UK 1974 I hope to see more reactions to ABBA GOD bless you my best regards from Buenos Aires Argentina 🇦🇷 South America

In '50's/60's acts had quite fun with their synchronised dance moves. There was a charm that now has left a fine nostalgic retro feeling ,most of it in dreamy black n white vision.Yet i loved Abba's kinda "non-marionettic" dance moves. They still looked adorably cute. What i couldn't relate was what followed later decades that got out of hands imo.All i could see in late MTV and after were acts doing same dance routines with dancers behind moving like marionettes or (if i get caustic) ... even jumping up n down like monkeys at times, which really made me get fed up of all this scenery. It still repeats today in many 'live' shows apart from some decent exceptions who don't overdo it or do it 'well 'etc.So Abba was fine by me just the way they were.

@@alexioverdo5225 that could be a whole other rabbit hole, dance through modern times... I do go out dancing often, as it's one of favourite things to do... And not many Kidz really know how to dance beyond tiktok whatever's,,🙈🙊... And Jay is right about their sexualized moves, trying to be sexy, doesn't make you sexy

@@kerriniemi9525 Being an Abba fan since 1979 .... imo they didn;t have to put much effort in getting sexy, the girls were naturally beautiful and sexy even without nudity. But even at their sexiest moments they still walked the tight rope between sexyness and naivety flavoured with decency.Never cheap or vulgar.
