The reason is because they hire media trained conservatives, conservatives from think tanks and special interests groups, and online conservative personalities who know how to derail conversations and try to evoke anger. The people, mostly conservatives, that they invite are not there to change their minds. They are making money from their views. That’s not to say the liberals they invite don’t have those, but once you learn about the real way in which America operates and combined with Jubilee casting choices, it’s very clear why the conversations in their videos keep getting derailed.

Agreed, good point. Everyone starts out as a a liberal democrat in their youth (mom/dad why doesn’t the gov’t just give everyone a million dollars and everyone will be happy). Then the parent, education, and real life take root and people understand how the world works. It makes sense that the fact that if only voters of 45+ voted in the past couple elections, ALL 50 states would be Republican. To restate, if only those 45 and older were allowed to vote, every single state would be 100% republican. To put in perspective, think of when you were 10 years younger, are you smarter/wiser now or then? Would you rather make decisions with your current knowledge or that of your younger self?

@@Trail_Cairn I kind of agree, to a point. I don't think they start out liberal at all. The family system is a cross between an autocracy and socialism. Everything being given to them they need, but the parents being the king or queen. As far as them growing up to be Republican, if that was true, we all would be now. But our experiences do have an effect on where we are. I was a Republican, but 100% disagree with Trump who I do not in any way see him as a conservative in any way. So, I guess it depends on your definition of Republican to start with. Of course I would rather make serious decisions now than when I was young. When I was younger, I voted more with a hive mind mentality. Now I look and want the best solutions for the whole country, not a single subset of the citizens only. I see the whole picture of our place in the world as well as in the country. When I was younger, I saw only where I was.

Gen Z liberal here. One thing I would love to see in left-of-center institutions is a comparable devotion to scrutiny of non-Western societies. Western Hegemony and Western influence like any form of power has pros and cons, and I've witnessed a complete monopoly of attention devoted to denigrating the West through selective attention to its failures. I have seen no comparable requisites about, for example, the dangers of political Islamism or the negative qualities of other political systems or ways of life. This, I think, has blinded us to the urgency of issues abroad, such as slavery. Those issues (particularly slavery) seem to me to take higher priority than the issues we debate in the culture wars, not that those issues aren't also important.

Yes and that explains why some of the comments from girl in the suit and dude in blue polo shirt were completely from online (problematic) people even if they made some good points, but blue polo shirt didn’t know how to defend his opinions or cite facts and actually spread misinformation. The US does NOT “give” more money to Israel than anyone first of all that would be America then Ukraine talking about where funds go but also it’s stipulated defense money only that goes to Israel and they have to buy from American-made companies as part of that stipulation, it literally creates American jobs and of course the mainstream media completely fails to share this completely factual information. Sam in the grey suit was best able to defend his positions with history and fact rather than just talking appoints and opinions. I was sad to hear his uncle died from 9/11. This is true for those of us who were in highschool during or after COVID. I graduated in 2019 and my experience is VERY different from my younger siblings. When I was their ages I was always out, sadly everyone their age is closed off and we’re only a few years apart.
@waynestock2006Күн бұрын
@duneeaaasha obviously my point of view is from someone who is about twice your age. Our worlds and childhood is much different, and we can only speak to our experiences. I have two sons, one 18 and one 19, so my opinion is based on observation. When I was 19 I moved out of town, went o college on my own, and the only way we could see our friends was to leave the house. What that does is force interaction with random people without the ability to hide behind the firewall of a text/DM/(insert seclusion facilitating device of choice). But I take your point, the younger GEN Z kids are at even more of a disadvantage.
@judeseibel5909Күн бұрын
I’m 19 and while I think social media is definitely having a huge negative impact like you said. Another factor I think is car culture and suburbia which I think compacts on that negative impact that social media has on socialization. For example if I’m looking visibly depressed I feel like someone is infinitely more likely to reach out and try to help if I’m walking, biking, or taking public transport. I’ve been to Mexico and France which are places where they have really strong community structures which are a byproduct of their great walkable communities. I think the difference this has on everyone for the better is staggering.
@waynestock200622 сағат бұрын
@judeseibel5909 I can see that. It forces people out of seclusion. I grew up in the street racing scene so we were always out in our cars, but the intent was to use the car to draw attention. Incentivizing single motherhood? WHO IS INCENTIVIZING SINGLE MOTHERHOOD? What the hell? As a daughter of a mother, she left because he was an alcoholic. She did right by leaving, he ended up mortgaging his house and partying it all away, and going to prison for prostitution. No ones incentivizing single motherhood.
@minervarose766411 сағат бұрын
@@xiala_ they should go one step further and say what they actually mean - what they really want is to punish single motherhood. They don't want women to be college educated or have job skills, they don't want women to work or become financially independent in any way. Ok let's say i can get behind that, but then that means they should provide adequate social safety net to "incentivize" SAH women, right?? Wrong! Not only do they want women to be financially dependent on men, but IF SAID MEN LEAVE/ ILL-TREAT THEM, THEY WANT WOMEN TO BE LEFT WITH NOTHING. Personally i find it a disgusting and hateful attitude.

Really enjoying this series. One thing I noticed as they were speaking, is that the younger members of the panel had tremendous difficulty making eye contact, and a very hard time speaking with conviction. My older kids (two in college now) had their early high school years messed up by covid, and there was a definite record scratch in a crucial moment of social interaction. Mine happened to be ok long-term, but I have seen so many kids their age have ongoing consequences from that period of their lives. On this panel, they really tended to withdraw (I'm thinking of the two younger girls on the left and the boy to the front on the right) and only speak up when specifically asked, whereas the older panelists were more willing to offer and expand upon their views. I know some of that is just age and seasoning in the real world, but this micro-generation of lockdown seems especially affected.

I graduated high school in 2019, I have 4 younger siblings and I got to see firsthand how much COVID ruined the younger side of the generation. My sisters 16, we’re really close so I see her friends often. She got into a fight with them and was so worried because she has no other friends, I asked her how do you have no other friends and she said after COVID everyone changed, became closed off. People turned into small groups, 2-4 friends, and nobody else. When I was 16, I was always out and meeting new people, I became friends or at least acquaintances with hundreds of people during my teenage years. People used to go out, throw parties, bonfires, and just hang out with random kids in the community. It is so different for my sister, she’s an outgoing person and she can’t find anyone her age to match that. It’s so sad to me.

It would be so coo to check in with these people after about ten years of life experience. Particularly the woman who claims to be strapped into corporate life by an overly-individualistic society. I’m married with two kids and rely on my husband’s income to feed our family; we homestead and all. I can’t imagine and don’t wish to impose this structure across the board-I can assure her it’s slightly harder than being a single woman with a full-time job and benefits. I’m only able to watch a video like this and post (my first ever) KZbin comments because my husband is on a lunch break. She is clearly fresh off a difficult few years and seems especially defensive. I’d be curious to speak with her. She invokes the ‘50s, a time when there were fewer people in the country competing over more resources whose immediate and extended families lived nearby to help raise kids. My grandmother, Catholic, had ten children and struggled greatly, even with the help of her family. Today, you’ll need more than just robot compassion to turn on and off in order to foster relationships with your neighbors who you will rely on to help you and who will most likely mention the word abortion at some point, possibly not in the connotation she prefers. Anyway. Good luck to her. As far as the policy talk goes…there’s a new movement across the country’s institutions and businesses that are leaving DEI policies behind due to utter lack of return, maintaining or implementing only the ones that show improvement in positive outcomes ie in consumer base and workplace culture. These Republicans sound like much of the right wing internet that has come to rely on “woke” outrage to fuel their fire. Most of the country is ready to move forward. The majority of the founding fathers (versus signers) were in fact not religious and cite the use of the word God with the most calculated intention, certainly not with the idea to impose a universal demagoguery. Religious freedom etc. Where’s our libertarian?

Women her age are expected to compete with men. AND they're expected to be mothers and take care of the home and family. Not to mention the physical part of being a woman. The dude in the gray suit was very well spoken. And he was the best looking in the whole group.

Th guy that you mentioned brought up how men die at work at a disproportionate rate compared to women. Also how males make up 80% of the suicide rate. Can you ask yourself, if being a man isn’t as hard as being a woman why would men kill themselves 3 to 4 times more than women do? I also want to bring up once he brought up the suicide rate for me they instantly shifted to the next topic. That is a microcosm of the issue played out in real time. Not only are men’s lives so difficult, in every instance you can imagine when bringing up the issue it gets disregarded or shifted to “women have it worse.”

You can’t get the safety and community of the 1950s in today’s world no matter how hard you work. Even the fake government structured communities that Roosevelt and Clinton created are falling apart as this county is invaded and drugs destroy everything else. Working hard in the 1950s was largely a matter of pride and trying to be at least as good as your parents if not better. You cannot remotely compare anything in the 2020s to the 1950s, hell RFK Jr has proven that the 1970s were VASTLY better than the 2020s and the 1950s were much better than that.

Watching this kind of thing from Taiwan, where I've lived for many years (though I'm American), it always feels like the most important aspect of this election is misunderstood widely back home: Trump has repeatedly indicated that he is open to ceding the defense of Taiwan and by implication our Asian treaty allies, which would likely unravel the rest of our allegiances and, in the end, the sustainability of our economic system. I really don't blame anyone back in the US for not having this on the forefront of their minds, but it is more important than everything they are talking about.
