UPDATE: After using this dryer for almost two months I wanted to add that is very important to clean the airflow in the back of the dryer otherwise it will make a different noise and lose a little bit of power. It happened to me and after I cleaned it, it went back to the awesome drying power it has. Again, I absolutely love this dryer!🌷 ********** I've now owned my shark hyper air for over a month and absolutely love it! I have long wavy hair and it takes me 25 min to fully dry in low heat and medium speed. The diffuser is amazing. I'm glad I bought it when they had it on sale for $179!! I'm very happy with my decision ❤️❤️

I love your comparison videos! ❤️ I bought the Dyson last year to try to cut down on my dry time. I honestly don't even use it. I agree with you that it gets too hot, the diffuser makes my waves kind of wonky, it makes my hair feel really dry, and my dogs absolutely hate the sound it makes. I'm really excited to try the Shark, especially the diffuser. My sister's hair is more coarse and she straightens it pretty often so I'm going to give her my Dyson.

I have the Dyson, which I bought before the Shark came out. I really like my Dyson. I have long, coarse, barely wavy, mostly white hair. The Dyson cut my drying time almost in half. My husband adapted my old Black Orchid diffuser to use with the Dyson and I switch back and forth between the two diffusers. My hair dries quicker with the Black Orchid, but gets a bit of wonkiness that I can usually fix with the Dyson diffuser. All that to say, I wish the Shark would have come out sooner because I would probably have bought it. At the same time, I don't regret the "big bucks" I spent on the Dyson; it's such a well made machine that I will probably never have to replace it.

@@GenaMarie I ended up getting the shark dryer and I felt like it was SO hot even on low compared to my old hair dryer (which I also only used on low). It felt like it was burning my scalp! I did an experiment where I tested the temps for all temperature settings on my old Conair and the Shark. Sure enough, the lowest setting on the Shark was almost as high as the highest setting on my Conair (152F vs 158F, respectively). This worries me as far as possible damage (I know the company claims no damage, but don’t they all). I’m finding conflicting info on what hair dryer temp causes damage to fine hair. Do you happen to know if this is getting into dangerous territory? I’d imagine no one would recommend scrunch/pixie diffusing on a high setting on even my old dryer? Especially since the dryer is held in place for more than a few seconds. What are your thoughts on this? With the Shark the lowest heat setting is still hot air but it’s not burning feeling in my opinion. It’s not “warm” air though. I had a Black Orchid diffuser and it took 45mins to dry my curly fine hair originally with a standard professional dryer (Parlux). Then I bought a second hand Dyson and did a hack to attach my Black Orchid (as Dyson diffuser is rubbish in comparison) and it took/takes only about 15 minutes to dry. Honestly, it took longer to dry, too, and I used the routine I always use. Sent it back immediately, it was a total failure in every way, in my opinion, I never hated a dryer before and my results were AWFUL! And my Orchid diffuser blows the Shark’s away, hands down. My hair dries really fast (except the back of my head) so a gentle, cooler dryer like my T3 is so much better, and I just love my Dyson in the summer.

Does it run very hot? Deciding between Dyson and shark but worried the shark runs hot
@StormyDay2 жыл бұрын
@@autumntralise870 yes it runs very warm, MUCH warmer than my T3 and warmer than the Dyson and I feel the Dyson is on the warmer side, but the Dyson has a constant cool setting so you could always use that. The Shark does not.

I’m seeing people say the shark runs super hot do you find this? I’m trying to decide between the two (I bought my mom the shark) she hasn’t used the diffuser I have fine hair and to much heat will fry it

Do you have videos recommending products for low porosity? I watched your hard water treatment but then noticed you have medium porosity so not sure if they will work for me? I have very fine and dry hair. Thank you for any help!

Is it worth it for a man with very curly short hair to go shorter than the ears?

I've used my Shark twice now and feel like even the low heat gets HOT. Like I have to move it around constantly becuase it is uncomfortably hot.
@GenaMarie2 жыл бұрын
Interesting! Mine doesn’t get too hot on low and I’m very picky about that usually
@miraclebub2 жыл бұрын
@@GenaMarie I was afraid of that. Guess I'll have to contact support. When I first turn it on, it's fine, but two seconds later it is HOT.

I called Customer Service and they are shipping a new one, so I guess it's not SUPPOSED to be that hot, lol.

@@miraclebub I'm wondering if your new one was better... I bought one from Costco and the lowest heat setting burned my scalp, I called shark and they had me cut the cord then sent me a new one, different model but still got too hot (both hit 170 degrees on the lowest heat setting)
@miraclebub2 жыл бұрын
@@kimberlystolworthy9128 It's not AS bad but it's still pretty darn hot. Luckily I don't dry my hair all the way.

Hello Gena! (or anyone that knows) The Shark dryer is 1.65lbs with the diffuser attachment or without? Weight is an important factor for me!
@GenaMarie2 жыл бұрын
I’m not positive, but I would say that’s without the diffuser. The weight was listed on the specs for the dryer. The attachments would be separate

Hi! I got this for Christmas and immediately used it! I tend to hover and then pixie diffuse but I found this dryer even on low setting to be extremely hot on my scalp. I was constantly holding down the cool shot button while pixie diffusing and my hair ended up looking like straw on the ends. There may be a learning curve because your hair looks fantastic! Is there a different way I should be diffusing with this dryer? Do you think the heat is going to damage my hair? Thanks!
@hopiiii12 жыл бұрын
My lowest setting is too hot, called Dyson and they said I could send it to them for testing or return to store and exchange it. Ordered another will compare the 2, if I have to hold the cool shot the whole time, I will return it. I do feel it is excessive heat and it will damage hair...way to hot for scalp.

i would NEVER spend a lot of a blow dryer. i learned my lesson after spending a small fortune for the DEVA curl dryer. all it did was make my hair frizzy. horrible horrible thing
@jessiestephens39432 жыл бұрын
I've heard that a lot of curlies say that they don't care for the Deva hand diffuser. That they don't get good results. That's why I'm going to give the Shark a try. I love the diffuser bowl.

Another question…it looks like you aren’t pixie diffusing at least with the shark dryer…is that the case? I imagine it would be hard to pixie diffuse with the controls on the back? If you aren’t pixie diffusing, did you feel like it didn’t make a difference or just wasn’t necessary with the low fan speed? I’d love to lose the need to pixie diffuse along with the faster dry time!
@GenaMarie2 жыл бұрын
I don’t pixie diffuse mainly because my hair does fine with leaving the dryer on the whole time. I don’t get a lot of frizz with either dryer 😊
@surrendertoflow782 жыл бұрын
@@GenaMarieI have only pixie diffused because my curls are so delicate but that makes me brave enough to try! Thank you!
