I'm so happy I found your channel! I'm om a very recent curly/wavy hair Journey and I need all the tips. Going to try difusing tonight! My hair looks great the first day and only takes a couple of hours to try (growing out a buzz cut so it's still short), but on day two I have No definition 😅 Water and a small amount of gel does help the second and third day hair, but I'm hoping I can get more defined curls!

Some of these tips are really helpful- thank you 😊 But some of them made me laugh and I realized that everyone's hair is different. For example- I started styling my hair soaking wet (read it somewhere) and it literally helped me so much with frizzing of my hair 😁

If you HAVE to touch your hair for lifting your bangs / cant go upside down, you can use a tail from a teasing comb, a japanese chopstick (those work great for separating wet clumps too). The Spriggle pick is REALLY good too. ESPECIALLY if you cant go upside down.

These tips are so helpful! I’m wondering if you could consider doing a diffusing video with the devacurl diffuser. I find it so tricky to use as a curl newbie Also I’m just wanting to ensure I get the diffusing technique right. You said hover over your hair first but not touch the diffuser to your hair. And then work on the roots first and then the ends? How long to work on a section of hair?

Thank you for all the information, Gena. My diffuser has the short prongs option, I’ve been using it. That must be one of the reasons I get freeze. I struggle with how much gel to use🤔😩. So much information I feel overwhelmed, I feel like I'm never gonna get it right. I used a diffuser for the 2nd time ever yesterday and it was bad I also think is the dryer is so old, but also my technique like I have no idea how to do it. I got a haircut this weekend and my hairdresser did my hair while it was soaking wet and it turned out nice it was a bit frizzy and she used hairspray which make my roots feel so dry like someone threw flour on it. But the curls were nice and I tried to do my hair soaking wet and it turned out bad like maybe I didn't use enough mousse like she did. Everything is so confusing 😢

Great video thanks you. I was wondering if you could do a video about how to protect/repair your hair if you swim in chlorinated water regularly and keeping your hair dry isn't an option. I swim twice a week for medical reasons and it is affecting my hair.

Want nice hair but can’t quit swimming! I’m in a similar situation but swim three times a week. I soak my hair with warm water and then shake and spray a 10% light oil (grape seed) to distilled water mixture liberally all over my hair. It takes a few extra minutes, is inexpensive but has really helped.

Always wet your hair before you get into the pool. NOT with pool water. The water fills up the hair shaft so the chlorine water is not absorbed as much. Very important to shampoo pool water out of hair after swimming. This is the advice I give my hair clients. It doesn’t prevent all the absorption of chlorine but definitely helps. I’ve been a hairdresser for 40+ yrs. Hope this helps.

Haha I have 4 now and want to compare all of them! I returned the Dyson of course. And I still do damp styling. If a product is too thick, like the Curlsmith in shower style fixer, I’ll add some water to it in my palms before applying it

Your hair is like mine. I’ve been trying to grow out my pixie, then got hit with Covid and divorce last Fall. Half my hair fell out. It’s growing back, finally, but it’s a scraggly mess. I’m about to cut it all off again. I don’t know if I need a pep talk or tips for thin hair. I’ve never had thin hair like this. (Except the time I was in the ICU for a week and was sick for months, and lost so much hair that I cut it into the pixie I’m trying to grow out again).

My patients in the icu lost a lot of hair during their stay. After they were discharged and they returned to the unit months later to say hi, they looked so much healthier. I know we put them on daily multivitamins while they were in the icu so stay on top of that. They also changed their habits to healthier ones like good diet and exercise. A lot of looking good is just the basics (healthy living), which is also difficult to maintain :( it's hard to be consistent especially when you're stressed. You've been through a lot, don't be too hard on yourself xx

I bought the bio ionic x10 hair dryer which is a great dryer and the universal diffuser which is a great diffuser. But not together as the dryer as a slim nozzle and it comes off all the time a bit annoying. But I am sure it would be great with other dryer

Hey Gena, I had a haircut the other day and the hairdresser used thinning shears on my bangs when I asked her not to. Now when I diffuse my bangs look sparse and very frizzy. Do you think the shears are the cause for the frizz? Also, will me trimming by bangs help? Your videos have helped in my curl journey tremendously!❤

So sorry that happened to you! Yes that’s likely causing it because it probably created shorter little hairs that aren’t staying grouped with the rest. You’ll have to grow it out and get trims until it’s back to the same length again. Focus on protecting your ends so they don’t split up the shaft so you can grow it out.

I had my hair trimmed last week, and I told the stylist to cut it straight across, without using those thinning scissors. She proceeded to cut the hair around my face short, and to use scissors to thin the back. She did all of this before I could stop her. This is the fifth stylist I’ve had in 12 years of living in this small city. I had the same stylist for 25 years before we moved. I was with the previous one for 4 years before she moved for her husband’s job. It’s obvious some can listen to their clients. 😔

45 minutes later and all I ended up with was still frizzy loose curls with slightly more volume than my hair does when I just let it air dry outside after swimming 😑 no tight coils like hers, just waves (that will prob look super frizzy if I brush it out) Yes I used a leave in conditioner and gel cast (even reapplied part way through like she suggested) and bought the diffuser attachment she recommended and followed all the instructions. Nearly an hour later and less money than when I started, and all I’m left with are stringy damp curls. If anyone has suggestions I’d love to hear them. I was really hoping this would work because I love my hair curly and it has lots of natural wavy curls, but there’s no way I can spend an hour attempting to dry my hair on a regular basis

Honestly, I find the best thing to be time. Wait hours before breaking the gel cast... Which means it's gotta be washed and diffused hours before I am ready to leave... It's a bummer 😕

I do all of this but my hair is STILL SUPER DUPER FRIZZY!!! No matter what I do and no matter what I put in my hair, my hair still always looks like Hagrid’s hair !! It’s always frizzy, EXCEPT after 3-4 days of not washing it. My hair is shiny and doesn’t look frizzy 3 or 4 days after washing it. They’re always my favorite days ! I don’t know what to do to make my hair like that even when I’m washing it ! Water is my worst enemy ! Literally nobody around me has the same hair as me, it’s so weird !!

Do you use oil? That's literally the only thing that helps me. On wash day I use a leave in that has oil and then go straight in with an oil to lock in the moisture before I use any hold products.

@@caroline-s I do use oil from time to time when my hair is just way too puffy, but oil makes my hair so weird, it gets stretchy and it feels dry and the texture is just… awful!

I have this same issue. My hair is very low porosity so I do think that makes it worse. Do you deep condition your hair? Also I wouldn’t be using any hair products with protein or sulfate.

Use Bondi boost not a gel. It stops frizz and is so soft not crunchy.
