Bonnie I think it's amazing of you to share your true feelings!!! This is reality. Women feel ashamed if they feel disappointed at first but it HAPPENS. And the more we talk about it the less shaming there is. You WILL be excited to have another boy, you just needed the day to wrap your head around it. I think your sister is right. We need more strong Jesus-following men in the world and the Lord knew that you'll raise boys to be just that. It's a privilege! Congrats!

I agree with you, I have 2 boys and currently pregnant with my third its a girl and I am SOOOOOO happy I finally got my girl. But before that I was a little afraid to really say thats what i really wanted so i just kept my feelings to myself because the moment I said well i really want a girl i felt like people (which they always do) would say "well it doesn't matter as long as the baby is healthy". Yes its true as long as the baby is healthy but is it wrong for parents to have a preference? No...

Seeing this video kinda makes wanna share my story. My parents' first born was a girl which was of course their source of joy. The second born was another girl, they were like cool two sisters can't wait for the third born. Little did they know it was a third girl !!!!. They were like, ok this need to stop LOL. Having the fifth girl was like ENOUGH !!. Seriously. :) But this continued until they had NINE girls as a total. Finally, they had a boy which was a great blessing, and yes he is the most spoiled among us, I mean who would blame them. P.s my parents married at a very young age. That why they manged to have 10 kids. ;)

***** I have a 10 year old son and a 6 year old little girl, and if we decided to have another I wouldn't want a girl..... only because my daughter and I have such a sweet bond together, and I enjoy having mommy daughter time with just her and I sometimes. I know if I had a boy, my son wouldn't mind either way. But, thank God, you guys are blessed enough to keep having children!

Bonnie, as I watch your videos, I've always noticed that Olivia is so amazingly inventive, smart, creative, independent and resourceful. (I only see what you post so of course I don't mean to single out any of her traits) but I guess what my point is, is that, there is no other girl I can think of that could rule over a house of boys like your smart sweet Olivia. She has her daddy's spirit and know-how and you at the helm showing her a true example of a woman. I think you are making such a strong woman for our world that you only needed one. Those dang dirty crazy fun boys will one day seek a partner and they will have Olivia and you to thank for teaching them about good women! I've commented many times on your videos, I can't help myself. I just always feel compelled to tell you.. You freakin' rock Momma! From my Livingroom to yours! 👍✌️ Indiana Amy

I remember being upset about everyone's reaction to having a boy. I felt so bad for the new baby. Now, over a year later, it's pretty obvious that everyone has forgotten that they wanted a girl and Olivia just adores Lincoln! I still think it would be neat to try one more time for a girl. 😁 😂

I had to pause the video because I'm about to have a good cry and I wanted to wait until after my nieces come by. Here's my story- I'm the only girl out of five kids. I have four brothers. Then I gave birth to three boys. There was not a girl born in our family until 34 years after I was born! I can't even tell you how much my heart ached to have a little girl! But the precious thing is that God filled my life with so many precious girls from friends who were closer than sisters to me and nieces... oh, Bonnie, I have the best relationship with my nieces who are now 12 and 10! And now that my boys are grown I have three awesome daughters in law that I am so glad I got to know once they were grown and already through the crazy teen years! And my boys... they have been the greatest blessing and the loves of my life! I'm so glad you were transparent enough to show your brief disappointment because I know we all go through it.. we have an idea of how our life should be and when it doesn't come out that way... well, God knows better than we do. When my third brother was born it was during the night and my Aunt came into my room about 3am to tell me the baby was here and it was a boy. I said, "turn the light out". That boy is now a business attorney who has done many great things and is so kind and generous to his family. He's marrying this awesome girl this Summer and just today she bought plane tickets to fly me, my mom and my sister-in-law from Georgia (where we live) to NYC for her bridal shower. I know this is long and I'm sorry but I just wanted to encourage you because I know what you're feeling. Trust me, this boy will be more of a blessing than you can ever imagine. PLUS he'll be a great friend to Calvin!

Congratulations on another little baby! I absolutely LOVE the beginning talk in the car about you and Joel not seeing eye to eye. My SO and I go through the exact same cycle and it can be so exhausting to argue what feels like endlessly, but to see such a successful, happy couple going through the same thing makes the light at the end of the tunnel much more visible. Thank you for having the courage to share such personal struggles online!!

I absolutely love how real you are on camera. Thank you for showing the footage of you tearing up and being a bit dissapointed during the ultrasound. I could completely relate to your sudden dissapointment & tearing up. I have four boys. The first time I was over the moon to have a son. The second...third..and fourth time... I wanted pink and bows badly! The disappointment has nothing to do with the baby, it just has to do with realizing the gender combination you have always imagined/dreamed about will officially not become a reality. It can be a tough pill to swallow at first. :)

Congratulations on another boy! I commend you on showing your true emotions through the day. Nobody is telling you the truth if they tell you they aren't at least a little disappointed if the gender is the opposite of what you kind of had your heart set on. It's totally normal. Like you said, as time goes on you can be happy and excited about it. In the moment it's hard not to show your disappointment. When you started crying during the ultrasound, Bonnie, I started crying. And now I can't seem to make it stop. We are expecting our first in september. I'm almost ashamed of how much I want it to be a girl, but I have (we both do) a strong feeling that it is a boy. I have just always imagined myself having a daughter. We have the perfect name picked out and I am so afraid of getting disappointed, when we (if we, still not 100% decided that we will) find out the gender in a month. I have to say though, that I really really admire you for saying out loud that you are hoping so so much for a girl. Granted, you have had two boys in a row, so it might be 'more ok' then (if that makes sense?), but for me, I feel like it is somehow less ok. When we ask people what their guess on the gender is, almost everyone says 'it doesn't matter in the end'. And of COURSE it doesn't, but... it still does. It matters to the sort of picture you have made up in your mind, and I think it should be OK to say that you are a bit disappointed. And you sure showed that it is in fact OK. Also: admitting to Olivia that you were initially disappointed as well, was really strong and honest and lovely to see. Hop my ramble made some sense, thank you!

Congratulations! I have an uncle and aunt who had 4 girls and tried for a fifth- hoping for a boy- and it was another girl. At first there were feelings of disappointment like what you felt but my uncle said once they placed her in their arms he wouldn't trade her for a thousand boys. Right now your baby is an "idea" but soon he will be a precious child without whom you cannot imagine your lives! :-) Coming from someone who has been fighting infertility for four years: you are blessed! It's so wonderful that you don't hide your real emotions. You aren't negative, but you don't censor moments that aren't always accepted by others, and that is REALITY and I love that you live in it! Mothers don't always have perfect thoughts and mothers have feelings and it's okay to love your children while still having little moments of disappointment. We can all see you have a tremendous love for your children and will love the baby no matter what gender.

For all the people saying Lincoln will look back and be sad they wanted a girl.... I was the third girl and my whole family wanted me to be a boy. Makes sense to me lol, they didn't have a boy yet. It's not like they love me any less lol

Bonnie, I absolutely love and appreciate your honesty. You seem like such a genuine person and I'm glad you put your real emotions out there for us to see. I'm a mum of three boys and after one boy I desperately wanted a girl - imagine my shock at finding out we were having identical twin boys! Double the shock and emotions, but I completely adore having all boys. They're incredibly fun x

i haven't commented for a while, but i just wanted to say: congratulations on finding out you're having a little boy! with your love and guidance, he will grow up to be an amazing (and handsome!) man. you're both fantastic parents who adore each of your children equally, and i'm sure this little one will be just as treasured as his beautiful siblings. thanks for keeping it real and not glossing over your emotions like so many youtubers do. P.S bonnie, you're looking radiant as ever. makeup is on point! :D x

Bonnie I am so excited for your family. A new baby is such a wonderful blessing. I was also on team girl, and I could see the disappointment in your face when you found out it wasn't going to be a girl. But your reaction was perfection. I loved it. I love that you are honest about you and Joel having disagreements, your gender reaction, and other things. You are also SO honest. I love it. It is so refreshing and I know that so many people are so inspired by your moods, expressions and feelings, etc. Keep on being YOU! :) And congrats again on a precious healthy baby boy!! :)

I admire your honesty about your feelings, Bonnie! There's nothing wrong with how you felt at all. When we found out our child was a girl 4 years ago, I cried and cried because I really wanted a son so I could use the awesome name we picked. Hah! Anyway, your sister is absolutely right. We DO need good boys in the world and I can already tell that the ones you have now fit the bill. Much love and congrats!

I'm the youngest of 8 kids. The first 3 were from my Dad's first marriage. From my Mom and Dad, they had 4 boys, and I was the only girl. I LOVED growing up with 4 older brothers, and being the only girl! I just felt like I was special ;) So excited for you guys!

Congrats Bonnie and Joel!! I know you were hoping for a girl, but this world does need more good boys! And you are raising wonderful little men. Thank you for sharing your story so openly and honestly. I am very grateful when you talk about the rough patches in your relationship with your husband. It lets me connect to you and feel like we all have similar problems. Thank you for being so candid and not hiding that part of your life away. It inspires me to work on issues in my relationship, to try to be better for that other person. I learn a lot about life and who I should try to be by watching you. You're an inspiration. Thanks for vlogging!💜

Yay for a healthy baby! Oh Bonnie I got tears in my eyes when I saw you getting choked up. I remember those feelings at our last ultrasound. Knowing it would be our last I had hoped for a girl to have one of each. We now have two boys! I wouldn't change it for the world although sometimes my heart hurts that I will never experience the joys of a daughter. So happy for princess Olivia! She deserves some good spoiling! You guys are an adorable family and baby boy #3 will make a great addition. Congrats again!

I think it's sweet how your teared up when you found out it wasn't girl. Having another little girl would be so much fun for you, but I just know your life will be equally as blessed with another little boy. The boys drive you a bit crazy, but I'm sure nothing compares to the feeling of being loved and protected by your sweet boys. Olivia is such a big helper and such a sweet girl! It will be so much fun to see how much of a big help she will be and the bond you two will have will truly be unbreakable!

I know a little mister isn't exactly what you wanted, but I tell you what, coming from a family of boys and being the only girl, it was actually really nice =] Olivia will really enjoy that one on one mommy/daughter time as she gets older and those boys are going to all take care of each other AND Olivia! Troop Hoellein! hahaha but seriously, you make adorable little boys, so I'm very excited for y'all =] Congrats!

Congrats! I will say that your reaction was the same as mine when I saw on the monitor our 3rd boy in a row and was kind of in a funk my whole pregnancy. I gave birth about a week ago and as soon as he was born he was swooped to the NICU for breathing problems. Each day he was in the NICU I was just happy he was here. The day I brought him home I looked at him and was so in love. God knows what he's doing....

First of all, congratulations Bonnie!! I love how honest you were with your feelings because I definitely think we can all relate (either in reality or dreaming of having a certain gender someday). With that said, I think it will be so much fun for all the boys to be so close in age, cousins included. And, you'll always have such a wonderful bond with Olivia! Will you do a name reveal once you know? I hope so:)

Bonnie, watching this video just bought back so many memories for me. You see, when I was pregnant with my 4th, I desperately wanted another boy (I already had: Girl; Boy & Girl). So when I found out I was having ANOTHER girl - I was devastated. I actually went into complete denial and actually rejected the fact that I was even pregnant until I was approx 6 months along. So I completely understand how you felt in this video.

Awe, I feel you Bonnie! My oldest is a boy, mother I had two girls. Thought our family was complete. Baby number four took us completely off guard. First I wrestled with the idea of having another baby for ages. Then the baby was born and was a girl, when I figured I was having a boy. I so badly wanted my son to have a little brother! Our little Holland Grace has taught me over and over again to trust God with what He gives me. We recently found out that she is deaf... Once again, I am running to God for strength. All this to say, your faith will carry you through everything that life throws your way. God has plans for your family that you could never imagine!

Congrats! I think I can relate to how Olivia might feel. I am also the oldest sibling and every time my mom would get pregnant I would pray so hard that it was a girl. I ended up getting 4 brothers (who I wouldn't trade for any other girl in the world) and finally when I was 13 God answered my prayer for a sister. Brothers really are amazingly protective of their sisters as they get older. Wishing you all the best :)

I've been watching some of your old vlogs and just rewatched this one, at the time I commented understanding how you were feeling having just found out my last was a 4th girl and now I can't imagine my little girl as anything but a girl and the wonderful blessing she's brought to my life as I'm sure you can't imagine that sweet sweet, funny, gorgeous little two year old boy of yours as anything but a boy. For both of us I truly believe it worked out just how it was meant to
