I remember reading about the traditional eating practices, which was interesting. Then sadly I read about colonizers actually forced them all to eat together like Europeans, which contributed to fractured relationships and power struggles.

You guys could have had those signs with names up for more moments through the video. There were SO MANY new terms it was really hard to keep up with it.

Yes, similar to Vedic culture, 3rd gender was accepted and normal. Thank you. They were artists, performers, etc. study Vedic culture and you’ll see. We need to go back to these understanding ways. Not forcing gender change surgeries on kids, no. But understanding 3rd gender is a real thing.

As a hapa (part Hawaiian) I have to say she is taking this entire thing out of context. Mahu was not given to someone who "identified" as two genders, but they were still called what gender they were. But were called Mahu because of the fact they had male or feminine qualities. They were still called Kane or Wahini.

I mean.. communal living is not communism, and is at least as old as ancient Greece, if not much older. (Probably existing before human beings existed in all honesty...)

@@ItCameFromTheSkyBeLo agreed. most hunter-gatherer societies i've read about practiced some form of communal living. when the reality is that a solitary individual rarely survives without the tribe, community becomes essential.
