Thanks for sharing a clip from what I consider one of the best if not the best Autry feature. One of only two color films he made, which is a shame, as the kind of outdoor action films benefit greatly from it. Please note they used a less expense color process here than Technicolor (the best) to cut down costs. It had its problems (blue looked green, for example), but hey, it's okay with me!

I'd imagine he'd think of the gay community the same way he thought of it when he was alive. I do know know from recently reading an exhaustive biography of him, that late in his life, Autry set up several charity baseball games with the team he owned, The Angels, to raise money for AIDs research, which I think reflects positively on him and should hopefully answer this irrelevant question.

He indeed was against racism. I just read of an incident the other night where he and a band member were enjoying a hot dog and soda during his rodeo show. A man came up complaining about his food being cold, constantly referring to the man behind the counter as "you little jew). Without turning, Gene yelled out he didn't allow that kind of racist talk at his shows and welcomed the man to walk around the corner with him. Fortunately, Gene's friend cleared things up and got them moving again. Mr. Autry was a very okay man.
