I am indifferent to Gene. I like some KISS songs and have seen him interviewed many times simply cause I am a huge rock/metal fan. I think this is the most patient, eloquent and even tempered behavior I have ever seen from him. I would even say he behaved admirably here because he did not overtalk the papparazi guys, he had a dialogue with them . And he chastised them in a gentle way so as not to ruin the mood for the genuine fans who wanted autographs/pics. He kept a cool head but made his points effectively. Bravo Gene!

I have heard and read people say "Gene is a narcissist!" Or "Gene doesn't really care about the fans!" I was one of them! I say, whole-heartedly, that with the last few videos I have seen of Gene "out of his comfort zone", he has handled himself like a professional and as much as a gentleman as the situation provides. Yes, I thought he was a total asshole and would rather stab you than sign your silly little photo! I have seen a side of Gene that has opened my eyes that he can be quite articulate and personal to the fans and guys begging for his time when he has already been paid to be somewhere else. When the guy he pointed out as a "professional" rolled up his sleeve to unveil Gene Simmons ink on his flesh, Gene quickly and apologetically made him feel comfortable. Now, you tube is no forum to admit my new found respect of this 65 year old rocker but I have tried to meet other "heroes" of mine and they wouldn't even look at me or snub me by looking the other way! Problem is, is if you're going to be the type of star that picks and chooses who gets an autograph, based on if they seem like a vulture or not, you're going to disappoint a genuine fan. Easiest fix is to ask who to make it out to, that should weed out the vultures pretty quick, but by Gene saying the fans have to fix it amongst themselves is silly, what are they supposed to do, lynch the vultures in the street? I have sought a lot of autographs from musicians I admired in the past, but I wouldn't go out of my way to ask for his, he just doesn't seem like a nice person.

My sense of it was that some of those people hung around that radio station frequently when celebrities were going to be dropping in. Either trying to get multiple items signed that they could flip on eBay, or provoking some kind of response on camera that they could sell to TMZ or whomever. He chatted with them for ten minutes and it looked like he signed one item for everybody, so I don't know what complaint they could really have. Most celebrities would have just made a beeline to the car.

I am a real fan, and if Gene had wrongfully accused me of being a a paparazzo or whatever, I would not have responded like a journalist. Gene Simmons turn me down for an autograph once and what made it even more Awkward was the fact that we were trapped together alone in an elevator, all the way the top floor at the Hard Rock Hotel in Vegas. So Gene had to stand there with this shity condescending look on his face with the guy he just turned down for an autograph for about 90 seconds... But then later on I asked him when he was down in the lobby and for some reason he didn't hesitate he just started signing for us.
