This is how your videos should be, just talking about your love for plants, not over rehearsed and over selling. Great stuff!
@MrMapleShow3 жыл бұрын
None of our videos are rehearsed ever haha
@GalacticGlowPutt33 жыл бұрын
@@MrMapleShow rehearsed might be wrong.. just over formatted I guess. Seems like you guys talk about the same say 5 things/topics each time about each variety. Would be better to just have a conversation about them, like your talking to a friend not a customer
@MrMapleShow3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the feedback. We definitely do have a format to our cultivar videos to make sure we cover the main points to each. We do mix it up in our information videos and we plan to be doing a lot more that style. Check out our Kiyohime video we did today also. We added a newer segment at the end in a conversation format. So I guess we agree too

For those of us in the hot southern states, use a nice thick layer of pine bark mulch (kept away from the trunk) to keep the roots cool and give them consistent water (consistent, not constant). I also have had great success with preserving the leaves by applying a gentle misting of Wilt Stop on the leaves every 6-8 weeks or so in the heat of the summer. FYI, the Mr. Maple guys sold me an XL 3g Sango Kaku that has been sitting in my front yard in full blazing sun (6+ hours) and the leaves are maintaining perfectly! I actually bought three of them, but the other two seem to need more shade.

What about using those round rubber weed guards that are from 24 inch to 36 inches around the base of the tree when they are first planted to keep the weeds away.
@MrMapleShow Жыл бұрын
They work good temporarily but can hold bacteria longterm

Mr Maple can you please do a video about spacing when planting Japanese Maples? also about what you can grow in and around underneath that won't damage or compete with the trees but will fill in the area nicely?

Great post men, I drill my pots to create better drainage, also stand them on feet for better drainage & air flow, drainage is king for Japanese Maples :-)

Just ordered a jap maple, “skeeters broom”. I’m in zone 9A and I’m going with a container so I have more control over the light and heat it receives. I ordered a 2 gallon pot, it hasn’t arrived yet but I have already purchased a huge pot for it, lol! Now that I’m listening to what you all have to say, I’m starting to think I made a mistake by buying such a big pot/container. What size container would you suggest me starting out with? Like I said it’s a 2 gallon pot that I purchased. Also, you were mentioning something about the type of container, what it’s made of actually matters too. What type of container would you suggest me purchasing? The big container I purchased is wooden, but obviously I’m not going to use it now because you’re saying it’s too big. So what type of material container would you suggest? Thanks

Recently during hot weather, my Japanese Maple started to produce sap on its bark, is this a concern? Should I wipe off the sap or leave it alone?
@MrMapleShow2 жыл бұрын
It maybe a more serious issue. Typically you wouldn’t see sap. Is it possible it has been opened up by an insect or taken some damages that the sap is coming from?
