Remember, Gungans have been a warrior society for hundreds of years, live underwater where multiple dangerous sea creatures live as well, fought the droid army on an impressively even footing for a while and wield weapons that Grievous' cybernetic body is vulnerable to. They might have produced a silly creature like Jar Jar, but the Gungans are dangerous when push comes to shove.

Everyone makes fun of Grievous for this but would you really expect a non force wielding cyborg who's almost 90% cybernetics to beat an entire army of EMP throwing warriors singlehandedly?
@mattheweaton91116 ай бұрын
Yes. He sucks. They don’t have blasters they have huge blue balls easy to block. The way one easily sneaks up behind him is ridiculous . Remember when kid fisto tried to sneak up behind him. Didn’t work.
@zath64256 ай бұрын
@@mattheweaton9111 Kit fisto was alone. Grievous was dealing with 100s of foes on all sides, and he's not force sensitive. They were clearly distracting him. And yeah, one or two blue balls are easy to block. But a dozen? Two dozen? He couldn't keep that shit up forever even with all four arms going. Someone would get a lucky shot in and cripple his motors. Game over. I also think you're underestimating just how strong gungans are compared to humans. Clumsy ass Jar Jar executed a perfect 20 foot flipping somersault, and he's not one of their warriors. I'm guessing they can throw those things at fastball speeds that would make MLB players look like chumps. He still managed to kill their captain in single combat in seconds, so it's not like he was jobbing to them either.
@mattheweaton91116 ай бұрын
@@zath6425they fired 2 balls at him. The entire army was standing completely still. U argument don’t make sense when I have eyes and see only 3 or 4 people attack him at one time. Also gungans are not shown to be stronger then humans.idk where that came from strong.
@zath64256 ай бұрын
@@mattheweaton9111 The scene in Phantom Menace where Jar Jar executed a perfect 20 foot somersault into the water? Part of the basis of the argument that he's secretly a Sith Lord, but more realistically evidence that aliens who live in a hostile environment are probably stronger than humans. And yes, they only did throw one or two balls at him while they sent warriors in to fight him. That wasn't smart I'll admit, but would you rather they play things smart and just pelt him with balls forever until somebody lands a hit or let him take a few Gungans with him? There's no scenario where Grievous manages to kill all of them. Outnumbered, outgunned, surrounded, and alone. They can't have him go on a bloodbath in a kids show, but there's no scenario where he gets out of that as the victor.
@Imperialstorm033 ай бұрын
@@zath6425 The scrutiny of this scene is often more about how Grievous is underpowered compared to his EU counterpart, in fact, that's one of the biggest discrepancies for Grievous than anything else. You could argue that the scene makes sense, but that's not what most deny (except for the two above) it's about how pathetically underwhelming Grievous is. Were he portrayed as anything more than "big bad idiot droid who gets duped constantly" and anything like his legends iteration where he was a nigh-unpredictably fast Jedi Hunter with reflexes that rival if not outperform most Jedi Knights and few Masters, then the scene would play out different. The scene does make sense, if only because Grievous was underwhelming from the get-go in this continuity.

I like how he gets so arrogant, he doesn't even bother using all of his cybernetic arms. He also lets himself get surrounded and indulges himself in a 1v1 with their leader. If he took them seriously he would've taken a lot more of them down before eventually being beaten I reckon.

When this episodes was first announced, I was expecting Grievous would have a Boromir style fight where the Gungans would win but Grievous would have kept killing them every time he got speared until he couldn’t fight anymore (obviously he would survive due to Episode III)

Man I wished George Lucas didn’t have to nerf Grievous all the time, since sometimes the writers and the animators can make him threatening.

In all fairness, he had no droids to help him, still killed the Gungan army's best captain in a few swings, and was majorly outnumbered, while also taking blows that would have killed any other mortal man. I get why people don't like this duel, but it does make sense based on everything we know.
