I am an AF dependent who grew up in this area and spent a lot of time on Camp Lejeune. I have been all over that base including the Pool at Camp Johnson where the Memorial is located at. Every day for 3 years I would pass by the Beruit memorial and remember that day and was blessed to still have my Uncle who was in Beruit at that time but was near the Airport. I also witness the day these men from the MAUs came back to Geiger, it was one of the most moving things I've ever witness. Years later my son became a Marine 0814 and am so proud of him but the Beruit bombing was always on my mind while he was on his 1st MEU cruise. God Bless the US Marine Corp.!

Al Gray could have said, "Grab your gear Marines, we're going back to Beirut" and we would have packed our gear.

The very command that let those Marines be sitting ducks, now memorialize them
