The Covenant were surprised to see that their Number 6 was a Sangheli, so were the Humans in the UNSC and Noble Team. It caused quite a giant stir within the higher-ups in The Covenant. They thought that the Great Schism has begun. Perhaps, it did. It already began the moment they conquered Reach, becoming the Covenant's undoing, and their beliefs. Maybe this is what the black ink was about. Both sides hid this information well. But when the dusts settles, both arms lowered, questions will be answered through shattered glass. I wish we got playable Elites in Infinite. Also EA blamed Halo Infinite for ShatterField 2042's failure lmao, here's a MGSV Moai 🗿for all the winners out there.

A high ranking elite who got captured, revealed all the intel he has about the covenant, and because of his disillusionment, knows that he would never be let back into his former faction without being killed. So why not join ONI, take out a few insurrection and covee bases before being redeployed to the front, Reach. Not knowing that it would be the end of his career, but one that would be remembered by both factions regardless.

The backstory of this elite would be interesting as hell. I can already think of a plot to this-imagine say an elite from halo 3 managing to be time traveled to the fall of Reach. He already knows the lie of the Great Journey and survived the great schism of Halo 2. Being a grizzled veteran he tries to convince the Elites during the invasion of Reach that this genocide of humans is stupid. The Elites at that time being obviously delusional, bring him to say Long Night of Solace so this “heretic” can be judged by zealots for execution. But this veteran elite-of unknown rank or armor kills everyone in the room and steals one of the dead zealot’s armor. Using the active camo he escapes the ship stealing idk a seraph flying to the nearest human base-that being sword base. Being able to speak English unlike the rest of the covenant dialect in the base game, he was able to convince ONI section 3 after many days of intense interrogation that he is in fact on the UNSC’s side. He did this via showing ancient Forerunner tattoos that the ONI spooks researched on like a reclaimer tattoo on the elites left upper arm and the mark of shame on his chest for example. Knowing how much of a VIP this elite is to humanity: ONI convinces NOBLE Team to let this elite into their group after some really heavy persuading by ONI Section 3. The Covenant after learning of this new elite who murdered a group of Zealots are pissed and the hierarchs are scared shitless knowing the lie as well in secret. Being egotistical assholes, the hierarchs put a hit on this “fake” zealot elite to anyone able to kill him. Thus the extreme hostility to this specific elite. Though he proved himself to the humans saving The Demon from death. The covenant’s fury was too much for him to handle and eventually he died by the same rank he donned as his zeal to fight against the bigotry of the Covenant. A zealot elite. Both beautiful and ironic. If only Bungie did this. I’d play that campaign all the time. 10/10 story if Bungie did that.

The ending hits harder when you see the elite head. I like to imagine he lost a camera attached to his armor during the fight and still kept going, fighting his brothers till the very end. When it was over, they left his body behind as punishment. He'd receive no honor, no sign of remembrance, only his armor and his body would stay his feet. He'd be left behind when the Great Journey began. To his people, a traitor, to the UNSC, an enemy used as a means to an end, but to the people of Reach and those he fought beside, a hero that gave everything to save the Demon.

I’ve always been of the mind that they should’ve canned Spartan Ops and made a Halo 3: ODST style game out of Infinity. And if I’m getting full wish fulfillment, a hybrid Spartan and Elite (loyal to Arbiter’s faction) team deployed on a joint op to eliminate the Storm faction or remaining Covenant loyalists would be dope. I’d say have it start before 4 and kinda coincide with that game’s events before using the Spartan Ops story ending where you destroy Requiem. Of course, add in that you take out the Elite dude (M’dama I think his name was?) that dies on the first mission of 5. And hell, use _that_ to introduce Locke so he can have a game where he can have some development and not just be an obstacle before getting thrashed around. Ya know, give him a chance to be a character instead of a one note joke.

@@guitar_jero how does chief survive halo 2's glassing then? If it did take away shields, he would've melted in his Miolnir when the glassing beam was behind him. No, the armor became EMP resistant after that operation where Blue Team was rescued by Kurt during an Insurrection op. It's more likely that A) her helmet wasn't secured as stated by OP so the shields hadn't started come on, or B) because she had just put on her helmet, the system itself hadn't yet calibrated (they suit has to check itself before it turns the shields on) and the shields hadn't had enough time to charge before the shot was fired.

I would love that they wpuld make a DLC or another game where you're an Elite that reveled and decided to work with the UNCS (Not like the Arbiter). Where you would costum your Elite as well, but you start as an Elite that fights against the humanity, until a Spartan saves you or smth, and that makes you change your mind and decide to join them (but also include that the UNCS doesn't trust you). Kinda like this mod, but with it's own story and etc
