my UGS doesn't have the $X command in the same place as yours. Is there another name for that function so that I might find that button

There are several different versions of UGS. I was using a very old version of UGS. You should still find all the same commands and yes it will be located in different places. I no longer use UGS, I use the Openbuilds Controller now.

I am glad you pointed out that Easel is not the most efficient in the way it produces G code, it skips around alot. Is there another free program that does better then Easel. Thanks

Not that I am aware of. Inventables is planning to announce improvements to easel and the tool paths tomorrow May 3rd. Have to see what they are doing

Sorry to bother you as I wrote to you before about UGS and Vcarve but on Vcare Desk Top I cannot seem to find how to save it as a NGC,NC,TXT or G-code to make it work on UGS can you please help me

When you are working with a file and you want to save your work you go to the top left under file and save your work as you would with any file. This creates a .cry file type. Once you are ready to carve and you have completed all your toolpaths you will need to save you work. At this point you are working with the toolpath menu on the right side. The very bottom right icon is a save toolpath option. When you select this icon it will open another window with the selected toolpaths and you need to select the correct post processor. I use the xcarve(inch)(*.gcode). Then hit the save toolpath. This will create the .nc file that you need for UGS

Hello paw paw, firstly thanks for all the help just completed my power box for CNC4NEWBIE. Albeit true that the easel software takes longer and makes bizarre tool paths sometimes. Could you in the future do a video on stacked text with vcarve? I can design a stacked text in easel in about 5-10 minutes and only use two paths a clearing and detail. Now on v carve desktop it takes forever to design and requires 4 separate files to carve with clearings and detail. Beyond frustrating. You would think they could match the easel software with the simple design layout with depth of cut for stacked text. Sorry to ramble and thank you!

Yes, you are correct. It is quite difficult to do the started text in VCarve. You can get excellent results in easel with a fraction of the time

Instead of videoing the computer screen, why not use a screen capture (e.g. OBS Studio) to get video clips and then edit into the workshop scenes?

👍. I don’t think the machine is going to travel the 70 in per because there are too many curves. It will only travel that way in a straight line, it automatically slows for the curves. I’m no expert for sure but from research this is what I have found.

I will give it a try. I can only assume that pro features require the use of a pro day. Maybe if regular easel bits and fonts is used it would work. Just a thought.

Four free days for Easel Pro ended in July. If it quit and you paid for it you need to find out why.

You could just use Easel. One of the purposes of this channel is to educate. Yes, you could use easel just like I do on the XCarve. Some people have asked about using Easel with UGS thus a video. If you look at the FOXAlien playlist you will see where I am going from Easel directly to the controller using gcode. That way you do not need the computer or internet in the shop. Another big question. You also can use easel directly. I am showing many different options.

Thank you, it is all about trying to educate people to show that there is more than one way to do things. People have a tendency to get into a rut and do thing the same way over and over and not try new ways. I want to change that.
