The Covenant also has an advantage in that its multi-species caste system produces combined-arms warfare even when using simple tactics. In fact, they had a better combined-Arms force than humanity without even trying! Covenant technology is flawed in that it relies on heat and chemistry to inflict damage, and so once humanity found a way to reflect heat or resist chemicals, they could convert that into armor which would probably be lighter than what was seen in-game. Covenant uniforms also are bright and luminescent, which makes them easier to spot, particularly at night. Camouflage was only reserved for a few, as was night vision equipment. Thus, the UNSC had the opportunity to own the night, since the Covenant merely rented it. Covenant vehicles are also poorly designed, as they needlessly expose the crew and can't drive over anti-tank ditches/obstacles. Humanity missed numerous opportunities to use engineers to turn Covenant Xeno-wave assaults into WWI massacres through the use of obstacles and concentrated machine gun/mortar fire.
