Can you beat Half Life 2 with simulated Dark Souls 1 movement and mechanics? Well...no, not really - But here's a play-by-play of my convoluted, nonsensical attempt to do so anyway.

There is an addon called Total Replacer that add option to replace Half Life 2 enemies and weapons. You clould replace all of it with Dark Souls stuff.

Funny enough the shotgun knight is actually a reference to Infernoplus' Dark Souls mod which adds the weapons from Halo. The creator made a pretty fun KZbin video that includes some of the work arounds necessary to get them to work.

Damn, only 2k views? By production value and the editing alone, I thought, I stumbled into some great KZbinr I've never heard about. Great video, great humor, great everything. Good job. You deserve more recognition. As a suggestion on what you could also play: the Dark Souls Prepare to Die edition mod by Inferno Plus, that adds a ton of very well made and functioning Halo 3 weapons and mechanics. I think that would perfectly contrast this video, to make a Halo 3 Dark Souls 1 run. The mod in question is named: "Dark Souls: Remastester Release"

I'd also be willing to bet that some areas have regular player clips in spots that are removed once certain sequences play out. Like when they don't want you to get ahead of Alyx because the rubble is supposed to come down and separate you from her.

I just finished watching this, and let me say, this was an absolute pleasure to watch. I love Dark Souls and Half-Life, and seeing it brought together like this was fun and goofy yet jank in the most positive way possible. I also love all the memes and references and stuff. It made me feel like we had the same tastes and interests, and I felt very welcome watching. You did a great explaining your process and things you've done, be it oversight or reflection. Really made me feel like I wasn't missing out on anything. I really, really enjoyed this. I know it's probably a lot of work putting out a video of this scale, but I'd totally watch another of these. the invisible walls are usually NPC_clip brushes placed there to keep certain npcs in or out. With the "players" technically being npcs you possess, it would make sence for them to collide with it.

Hello there! Author of some of the Dark Souls mods you used (abyss watcher, Gundyr, etc.) I was considering something similar to the player mod present on the workshop (under the author Roach). That's using Bloodborne instead, would that be something you consider doing a video on in the future?

Apologies for my late response - Unfortunately I've never actually been able to play Bloodborne, because PS exclusive. Just for that reason I'm not personally privy to delving into Bloodborne related things, but if your hearts set on it I think you should do it regardless. Plenty of people besides me would value it immensely. Completely unrelated, but if an Elden Ring players mod existed I'd probably fixate on that quite quickly.

I think i know what the invisible walls are for Take the tripmine in Nova Prospekt it's something you wouldn't want NPCs to trigger, so the developers put a collision box that wouldn't affect the players There's an invisible wall near the sniper section (i think that was it) where the stair placing was necessary because the devs wanted the combines to stay at the warehouse and not wander out after Gordon if the player runs away

This video is so good, it's unbelievable. The topic (I'm biased) The editing, which doesn't get overwhelming neither stale. A perfect balance. And all of its other creative aspects are fantastic as well. It reminds me of simpler times where I'd play through HL2 using all kinds of mods over and over again. As well as playing Synergy HL2 co-op with like ~10 randoms and all the fun and chaos that ensued, similar to what's happening in the video in some way. It's also funny how you don't know any of the loading screen points (skill issue smh) but for me they're burned into my memory from the hundred of playthroughs of the campaign i've done lol.
