Jecki was a beast (totally going in no holds barred) while flowing from emotions I think she was also matching her Masters ferocity. The way she kept going in for the kill. Qimer had killed multiple Jedi. She knew he needed taken down, it was her time to fight like a Knight of legends she undoubtedly heard about. Had she not been blindsided by the shoto she may have fell into defensive position. Sol can definitely be proud of the way he trained his padawan.

I'm not a fan of this show, but I did quite enjoy this episode. Besides the obvious action, the dialogue and acting seemed much more believable. Mostly. So I am going to defend Jecki performperforming so well. It's not the first time we've seen a Padawan perform so well in combat. Look at Obi Wan. He was completely outclassed by Darth Maul, yet he held his own for awhile, and even got Maul to work a bit in their final one-on-one. Obi Wan hadn't ever fought a Sith or enemy of that caliber before. If you're gonna complain about Jecki, you must not have liked Obi Wan. Ahsoka had several similar examples, too.

Well that’s how it basically worked in the comics. Like the Jedi who disabled Vader’s saber for quite a long period of time with a cortosis blade. Actually pretty sure the books and comics both show this, especially the Vader comics. He almost got his throat cut by a Crotosis blade when a Jedi slashed through his lightsaber because the blade itself broke and wouldn't ignite. We also should take into account that Qimir is headbutting and striking sabers in a counter move that likely is forcibly breaking the magnetic field and overwhelming the crystal on purpose and with a single goal in mind: disarm and destroy.

I've been wondering why these High Republic Jedi don't even "subdue" their opponents. Jedi Trinity had plenty of chances to submit Mae during their duel. Also Sol just lets Darth teeth get up and grab his lightsaber again. He didn't have to decapitate him, (though I think it was situationally justified as teeth is in the middle of a mass killing spree and was only "defenseless" because Sol beat him into submission not because he surrendered) but why not take a hand, stab a leg, incapacitate him and arrest him. Stop playing around guys. End the fight.

yeah that's a good point only jeckie tries to actually restrain someone. I think they didn't think through this part of the choreography. You could also argue that the Jedi also haven't seen a Sith Lord/Apprentice in 900 years as the reason they were so unprepared to fight Qimir. The last time they've encountered the sith was a long time ago. Also Qimir having cortosis weaved into his armor helped a lot.

this is what i keep seeing everywhere, but like...where did qimir get all his experience fighting jedi? he wins, and mae wins in ep 1 because the jedi were written to fight poorly, they were written to be stupid and not use tactics or in this fight work together as a unit in any way. say whatever you want about lack of knowledge fighting a dark side user, but they sure as hell should have a ton more experience fighting lightsaber to lightsaber, should be aware of what the fancy ores can do, and shouldnt just stand there clueless when their sabers go out. they shouldnt let themselves be yeeted by one force push, or pulled into their deaths by a force pull, or not use any force powers for themselves, or use any fighting tactics. jecki and sol have main character syndrome where they actually fight smart for a few turns...jecki just STANDS there as she gets stabbed. just stands there. someone surprises me with a dagger im jumping like the kid who saw anakins lightsaber come out at the very least, let alone TRY to react with the sword i have. i love the 'trick' and sure it was used in medieval hema as well, quick dagger death blow while parrying a sword blow. maybe ive watched too many real sword fights to appreciate this slowed down junk.

I don’t think the 900 years excuse applies. Qui Gon and Obi Wan had never seen a Sith either. Maul was fully trained from birth. Also in this case there’s more than just two Jedi like in the Phantom Menace. How is “Qimir” able to or how does he even have the experience to take on and dispatch so many Jedi? Doesn’t make sense. I don’t wanna make excuses for it.

@@zaepreme Master Qui Gon Jin is no push over and Obi Wan, even as a padawan, was very good. Qui Gon is one of those outsiders who were too good to really bring down, because he often went against the Jedi Council's orders to do whatever the fuck he truly believed in. He had conviction and purpose he truly believed in which pushes someone from being good to great in some cases. Anyways, all of this to say that once they understood that Sith was a possibility, they didn't take any chances. They dropped the robes and worked together (Master & Padawan connection there). I was honestly kind of impressed with the choice. They lowkey went with a mini Red Wedding out of nowhere. Even baited us with the obvious redshirt Jedi Knights who I think everybody assumed would die. What made it such a great subterfuge was the character building they were doing between Osha and Jecki/Yord. Jecki as a supportive friend who is obviously more in-tune with the Force than most Jedi, and Yord as a suspicious former friend who was finally starting to warm back up to her. Both of them seemed like they had arcs that weren't concluded. And if I'd had to have picked one to die, I'd have guessed it'd be Yord. But after Qimir killed Jecki, I figured, "Okay, Yord's the one that'll survive, then." Nope. Brutal. Great episode.

The official Star Wars account posted about Qimir’s Sith character. They call him “The Stranger.” Part of his description reads: “While some may call him a Sith, little is known of this dark sider who had been training Mae Aniseya in secret, hiding his face from his pupil.” I believe The Stranger, aka Qimir is more close to a Knight of Ren than a Sith. Because at the end of episode 5, you can hear Kylo Ren’s theme play and his helmet is built a little bit like a Knight of Ren.

Mae again runs off while he is fighting jeki so again once he has a chance he runs off to find and kill her. Yea its jarring, but it makes sense his goal is to kill in that moment the only person that know his secrets.

@@ultronemperor3525 I'm kinda digging it, honestly. I think people are hyper-fixating on a couple of cringe moments as if they're the end of the world, but I agree with Allen here, the hate is really over-the-top. I know, I know, there were lesbian space witches. Return of the Jedi had Ewoks, let's not pretend like cringe is some new thing in Star Wars. It's fair to call out cringe for what it, but acting like this is ruining Star Wars is bizarre. A bunch of people showed their hand earlier and it was obviously about the diverse casting, and now they're trying to backfill like that's not what it was about. If we're being honest, the Boba Fett show was similarly cringey (and way more pointless), but this lightsaber fight topped anything in that show.

Absolutely some of the most brutal and intense lightsaber fights in all of Star Wars, and Qimer is fast becoming one of my favorite characters in the Disney era. He just absolutely oozes dark side and it's almost terrifying seeing his ruthlessness in absolutely wrecking all those jedi. I'm not on the hate-train review bombing this show, but my interest and investment in what happens next has exponentially grown after this episode for sure. This episode, I feel, has been the best star wars we've seen in years, and i love it all. This was thoroughly refreshing. 👌

@@Supreme_1906 How is it terrible writing? She did get cocky, and it really estabilished Qimer as an underhanded, dirty fighting son of a prick. The perfect characterization for a darksider. They shouldn't fight fair. People have over and over again demanded that people make use of turning on/off lightsabers. Guess what? We finally see what happens when you do that. Probably, if it was Obi-wan fighting Qimir, he wouldn't have been caught by that sneak attack. But Jecki isn't Obi-Wan, not even when he was a padawan.

@runakovacs4759 , first of all, this "sith" easily wipes out Kelnacca, then a handful of other Jedi Knights, but then gets a tough (and bad@$$) fight from Jecki, a Padawan?? There is no sense of balance or symmetry when it comes to the skill levels of the Jedi. This is why I think the writing is terrible. @@Supreme_1906 The power of the dark side can be very influentual. Jecki very clearly tapped into it, and dark siders tend not to expect that. Element of surprise, dark side = you can end up almost winning. Consider how obi-wan ended up being able to match Maul, a Sith Lord, as a mere padawan himself after qui-gon died and he was overtaken by his emotions. Or Luke overpowering vader after being on the backfoot the whole time after his feelings for Leia were touched.

Qimir's fighting style reminded me a lot of how Dao (Chinese Broadswords) are used one handed. Whenever his swordarm was doing anything, his offhand was either using the force, blocking with his corthosis bracelet (reminds of how Hung Gar Rings sometimes are depicted in old Hong Kong films), used as a counterbalance, or used for grappling. He at least once redirected a lightsaber blow from right to left with the blade pointed down and turned that momenrum into a direct counterattack, which is a classic dao move seen in a lot of forms from different Kung Fu styles. It is a pretty agressive, while elegant fighting style that has to close gaps a lot and never forgets using the offhand, which seems to be one of the inspirations for his lightsaber form.

This group fight dance scene lack any .. shoulder Bumps knockdowns. Also head canon, explaining the moments when the actors go wide eye, blink, and shake their heads before doing any actions. That is the sign in the novels of Mind Tricks. Vader's throat choke is cool on scene but someone crushing your eyes a little bit at a time is more effective at inducing fear and confession.

The Way Qimir fights kinda reminds me of Ventress. Like Qimir, Ventress is implied to not be following any specific technique and is mostly just cutting loss. They both compensate for their unrefined forms with their use of their strength in the darkside and their wits. On the topic of Ventress, this fight scene also reminds me of Ventress's duel with Luminara. Where Luminara gets bested by Ventress due to her unconventional approach towards fighting. The Sith assassin slashed pipe releasing hot steam inorder to blind Luminara before cutting multiple pipes to trap her under. Luminara even notes that Ventress was unlike any other opponent she faced implying she’s note use to fighting someone who’s constantly fighting dirty. In both these duels the Jedi get their asses handed to them because they’re not use to fighting someone who doesn’t fight by their terms which causes them to be caught off gaurd.

Also explains Jaecki's aggressive fighting style, and Sol being so emotional. By the way, the person who floated down and forced pushed the Jedi , I am pretty sure that isn't the same person who fought the Jedi in epsisode 5. I think Mother Anasa , is the true master and the stranger is the real acolyte .Even kills a jedi with no weapons.
