But not to worry , I'll take what I can get and as you can see there's plenty of those ones for free. A new coin on the printer today And added to the safe, so that's always a good thing. True story: 13 years ago I was looking for a new project. I was going through a divorce and fighting the urge to do something permanent (if you get my euphemism) and I decided to do a piano restoration. I spent 500 hours raising that thing from the dead. It was completely inoperable when I got it and a few months later, I had it tuned. The tech told me I raised the value from $0 to about $10k. 5 years later I donated it to a local church whose piano had been dropped and was completely destroyed. What a wonderfully fulfilling few months for me.

I did it. First melt of about 14 oz copper into 2 oz buddha ingots and an incomplete 4 oz bar. thank you for sending me your tips. i followed all the safety stuff to the letter. no problems at all. since melt 1 i got a pro respirator because my next melt will be 30lbs of aluminum cans. been waiting for this organ melt! cheers

21:00 yes, gold pins. Those chips could be valuable, not just for the gold but for scarcity. In the electronic music world many of those chips are still in use. Must get a partner to classify and manage all that electronics.

The boards that are brown/tan on one or two sides are worth nothing - junk boards. Minor amount of gold-plating. Telecom boards, motherboards, cpu's, gold-fingers on RAM, on the other hand, have way more value due to the heavier gold-plating and tantalum capacitors.

@@XtremeChiliPepper Those plates or capacitors are not important and there is very little gold from them. What's important are the chips. They're not made anymore. There are still very many musicians who use equipment to produce sound with those chips. They don't want the new equipment because it doesn't have "the right sound". That's why the chips are much more important as a replacement part than as a metal value.

As a welder, one of the first things we're taught is that zinc is not to be messed with, and the first thing to do with exposure is to drink milk to help flush it from the body. Every time I see you melting and pouring zinc I hope you have a fresh pint of milk in the fridge, just in case.

When my mom died we cleaned out her home. Nobody wanted her organ. It was fully functional and in really good shape. We decided just to put it out front her home with a free sign. Someone picked it up that evening. They saved us the headache of paying to have it hauled away.

It’s definitely worth scrapping one of the original organs I did with the triple keyboard on it. If you get some spare time, definitely go back to look at the old video that I did of the organ last year as I got a hell of a lot from that. But yes, this little organ today was very disappointing, and really not worth scrapping but I love doing this stuff so it’s all good👊🏻😁.

Not to be a smart aleck, but that cart probably would have moved on those pallets a lot easier had you put the boards in the direction of travel. Turn the pallets 90° from the way you had them. it's always amazing looking inside those organs. I find it amazing what they were able to accomplish with those things.

When you were moving the organ onto your gravel teardown/smelting area, I would have thought that turning the pallets (so that the wheels are running along the boards instead of across them) would have been easier? Lol, does anyone else remember the "piano smashing competetition" craze from the 70s and 80s?. this was brought about because old style mechanical pianos all started warping and such when central heating became a thing, leading to people getting rid of a lot of old cheapo pianos made during the 30s and 40s and replacing them with ones made using more modern materials and techniques, or getting electronic pianos/organs. The idea of a piano smashing competition was to literally smash an old piano to pieces using sledgehammers and then put the bits through a letterbox sized hole. whoever finished pushing their bits through first won, probably some sort of "fabulous prize"

Yeah, I’ll keep an eye out and get myself another one of the triple keyboard organs because those things were loaded with metal last time. I still have a few dryers a couple washing machines, a heap of microwaves some RV fridges a heap of old tools, some lighting and some other stuff to go through so that will be fun breakdowns👍🏻. So much to melt, but so little time.

Im thinking if one wants to granulate small guage wire, that's a specialty granulator that's not good for larger guages. The electrical connectors can be processed in granulators.
