Hey there all you beautiful People How are you all again at the end of another crazy week?? Another relaxingly simple video today and nice big addition to the stack . Now everyone loves some big Copper bricks that's for sure. Here's 2 more old cabinets I got from my mates farm when I picked up the other ones last month. Unfortunately I can't find the footage of them in the trailer, but you can see them in the other video sitting in the background. Not to worry, another crazy weather week in Western Australia, but we got there in the end so all is good . And as I always say sit back relax and have yourself an awesome weekend

If the shorter videos are easier to manage with everything else in your life, then please start cutting them back! Hands down longer videos. Your videos have been the highlight of my Fridays for the past 2 years. Every time a video comes to an end, it leaves me with a similar bittersweet feeling like when vacations are coming to an end. Now with the longer videos, I usually watch them in two or sometimes even in three sittings. This eliminates that bitter feeling and makes the wait for the next Friday shorter and easier. Your videos are clearly segmented in chapters; picking scrap, dismantling, preparation of equipment, bird feeding, smelting, pouring, food/drink break, doggo break, polishing, weighing, value calculation, fan mail, stack showcasing, doggos extra content. So those who don't like the longer format can easily skip the parts they are not interested in or increase the payback speed. But if you keep going with the shorter video format, those of us who prefer the longer videos, there is nothing we can do about it. But, anyway, whatever you decide, love you man 34:17 ;)

I've always been meaning to ask, and always forget - how come when you melt copper, no matter how much contaminants were on the wire or parts beforehand, there's virtually no slag compared to aluminum or brass, etc? Is there something special about the way copper melts that it doesn't really make slag? Also, have you ever accidentally turned over a brick to remove it from a mould and it's still been liquid enough to break open and spill?
@fionagibson75295 ай бұрын
My guess is that the copper gets so much hotter that the slag is just totally ashed and doesn’t stick, but I’m not the expert.
@Hydrazine10005 ай бұрын
Copper is not as reactive to oxygen compared to zinc, brass, aluminum and so on, so there is hardly any slag on top. What sits on top is only impurities that float to the surface. Depending on who you ask it is considered to be a noble metal, due to its low reactivity. In contrast, molten lead, zinc and aluminum, to name a few, react with oxygen in air to form a skin of oxidize on top which should be skimmed before casting. (Though copper, silver and mercury are not always regarded as noble metals, since there is no single definition for what makes an element noble.)
