This series on Genesis One will attempt to approach each day or a few days in each session. The approach taken here is traditional. I am trying to understand the text as the original author intended and as the ancient audience would have understood it. No attempt will be made to assuage an accommodation for the text nor its worldview. In this manner, I hope to capture what the text meant for ancient Israel and for us to receive it and understand it as the original audience did in their historical-cultural milieu. Whatever the text says and communicates I understand it as θεοπνευτος και μη ου ανθρωπνευτος

Dr. Strazicich- Thanks so very much for placing this on KZbin. I just started doing a serious study on Biblical Cosmology. This has given me a serious kick start.

Prof. Strazicich- Which of those bodies (moon, star, sun) determine the week? Please assist here. Scenario- religious man stranded on a island, does not know what day it is, has his bible, able to see sun, moon and stars, how would he know what day it is knowing that the sun, moon and stars are for signs and season and days and years?

This passage clearly shows that that the creation text is man-made thought and not divinely inspired because whomever worded this use their understanding that the light of the day and that of the sun are not the same thing when we all know for a fact that they are but in the understanding of the text giver it is God that created light separate from the light of the sun. It is easy to understand this being the case within the text since we see that God-created the sun on the 3rd or 4th day of creation.. So it's definitely stands out that whoever invented the story use their understanding of daytime light and the sun to be 2 different things...

Hi Douglas, the light created on day one is not the same as the sun moon and stars of day four. We simply just do not know. There are plenty of scriptures in the OT that just say things and give no attempt at explaining nor does it seem to be interested in divulging such information. Like who did Cain marry? and such forth. It is something there left for us to surmise. I do not find this to be insurmountable as you do. Thanks for listening and commenting. My gut feeling is that this light may be above the firmament, but it is beyond my paycheck. I simply do not know. As for scripture I do not think it is ανθρωπνευτος but θεοπνευτος

@@alexcampbell3032 snied snarky comments are what humans do best don't you think?. You dont even understand what I was saying.. Im talking about ancient peoples world view at the time that the scribe wrote the creation narrative.. I am not saying that it's this way I'm only merely trying to point out ancient peoples worldview is written into the text..

@@biblicaltheologyexegesisan9024 I know that the light day on day one is not the same as the moon and the stars I didn't mention anything about that Nor was I referring to those as being the light of the first day.. What I was referring to is Ancients people's worldview in their understanding of what the light of the day is versus the light of the Sun and in their understanding in ancient times the two are not the same thing to them.. So the worldview or understanding about sunlight and the light a day being understood to not being the same thing are written into the text. That's all im saying!
