@OnTheRoadHome It is a grammatical thing. The Hebrew word for breath is a feminine word. All Hebrew nouns are either masculine or feminine.

Yes, I thought that water experiment was pretty cool myself...The waters drawn together by an ELECTICAL CHARGE...Is there not smthing written about "the drawing together of the waters?" I can not remember 4he scriptures right off; but isn't that the word used when "land appered?" By the drawing together of the waters? I will look to these scriptures. Blessings to all.

@LVCIVSTVLLIVSATELLVS Thank you very much for letting me know about the error. I can't edit the video, but I can add anotations, which I did to correct the problem. Thanks again.

The verse is Gen 1:9 and the Hebrew verb is קוה (Q.W.H) meaning to collect, so yes, you are correct. I had never thought of that before. Thanks.

Shalom wayman. Elohiym can be used to refer to a "Mighty One" (God, Judge, Power, etc. - a singular) or "Mighty Ones" (gods, judges, powers, etc. - a plural). There are two ways to determine if this word is meant to be used as a singular or a plural. The first is context and the second is the grammar of how it is used. If the context or the grammar does not tell you then it is open to ones own personal interpretation.

@dunklaw I do not know Sumerian and have only seen the phrase En.Lil in some things I have read, but that is a very interesting parallel to the Hebraic understanding.

Nice lesson. Thanks! Question,How does one determine when to translate Elohim as (Powers) and when not to? At times the context may be up to interpretation also.

You must know the tenses of all other nouns and verbs in the sentence, to know if it’s singular or plural.

Is there any way to edit the video, so that you can fix the typo at 2:50? It says "John went to the store because he was Hungary" (Hungary is a country, not a state of being in which you have no food in your stomach)

Ok, it's a little more obvious why we understand this subject verb object relation with 'wind of God fluttering', but since it's in this form, doesn't this also mean there is something a little more here just as in "and the land HAD EXISTED"? And when I look this word up it means in strong's "to brood" (as in be spread over). So, if you wouldn't mind, could you go into this a little for me? Thanks

Shalom Jeff, I have been looking at possible parallel understandings between "Ruach HaKodesh" & the sumerian "En.lil". Lil meaning wind & En meaning mighty - many would translate this as "lord wind" or "the wind god" but in its concrete sense it is "mighty wind". The summit of wind. Just wondered what you think about this?

I enjoy your videos and your take on things, i couldn't find any references to the hebrew people were afraid of water? Mostly some opposite opinions If you have a good one I would be helpful. Water is amazing and I can see how your definition could be valid. Water has lots of other interesting characteristics...like floating when it becomes dense...making life possible. Thanks for the time and effort you put into your presentations,

@Axxeeellll1 I'm not sure what dictionary you are using but "raqa" means "to pound flat," not "to pound the earth in sign of passion." It sounds like the dictionary you are using is taking a lot of liberties with the definitions of the words. The word raqa is used in Exodus for when they "pounded flat" the gold that was cover the ark and other furnishings of the tabernacle.

Dear Sir, have You ever considered a comment such as this also "running" alike the tectonic plate reference, as if together with your translation of "heaven", fluttering over the faces of darkness with the rest of KZbin usership? Very grateful for these essentially beautiful insights, leading me to radically question my responsibility to "creation".

@mrmagpie21 Most of my books, as well as my website, provide this depth of detail for the Hebrew language in general, especially the Ancient Hebrew Lexicon and the Ancient Hebrew Dictionary, but nothing on Genesis 1 specifically. I have started a commentary of Genesis that will go into these details, but that is far from done.

The Elementals:- "Tehom" is a cognate of the Akkadian word tamtu and Ugaritic t-h-m which have similar meaning. As such it was equated with the earlier Sumerian Tiamat. Thorkild Jacobsen and Walter Burkert both argue for a connection with the Akkadian word for sea, tâmtu, following an early form, ti'amtum. Tiamat could also have been derived from the Sumerian ti, life, and ama, mother. (cont.)

@Jeff A. Benner Me and my 12 year old son who is studying Hebrew would like to know what the evidence was that lead you to the conclusion that the Phoenicians are a branch of the ancient Hebrews

Sis I’m surprised no one has answered this thoughtful question! My research tells me that’s the Phoenicians are one tribe of the cannainites and the cannaites are just a name for the People who dwelt in the land of Canaan they were there before the Hebrews arrived. They are the children of khem (the one they ignorantly call ham) who is Canaan and remember he lost his inheritance (some say because he was khems son by his own mother! Hence the term uncovered his fathers nakedness) so he was occupying the land until the Hebrews came to possess it. I believe they got pushed into the north regions from there and also into many other par around the Mediterranean.

0:50 all four realms are spoken of in the Hebrew the first two realms are the heavens and the earth, the second and third realm is wather which we mentioned here in a second and the fourth realm is sheol which is being identity which is a parallel with the home okay sheol is the underworld the place where you go when you die. 1:12 Ps 135 6 [what I see is the seas point to Dirac Sea, the depth Black Hole. Instead of four realms, two speed limits - light speed and dark speed which is the maximum speed of the space-time expansion in the third IBB epoach - make reality the whole into three realms: Planck World (The Heavens) and Island The Triune (The Earth) and Dirac Sea (The Physical Vacuum, in which exists the depth there) ] 1:48 7:54 water\what? water is unknown to science ... 8:03 it has properties they still have not figured out an example they did an experiment this just a year agon they took two beakers of water and put them next to each other on a table the inserted an electrode to give it an electrical shopping ... but they interjected this electoral current into one beaker well the beaker with that electrode the water in it climbed up the side of that beaker over the lips and into the other sider the beaker of the other side so it made a bridge they could take those two beakers and pull them apart they pulled the two beakers apart and the bridge of water stayed htere up to I think it was an inch and that with just water no tubes no nothing just water that is amazing ferns to me the scientists are still at a loss to some of the most basic things on this planet even water itself. 9:00 ... 9:28 they're saying one thing two different ways so verses 1 & 2 is a summary of all of creation it's not meant to be like an introduction. [What I see is verse 1 & 2 is (1) a description of House of God and a declaration for the absolute authority over all creations. ]

(Cont.) Burkert continues by making a linguistic connection to Tethys. He finds the later form, thalatth, to be related clearly to Greek thalassa, "sea". The Babylonian epic Enuma Elish is named for its incipit: "When above" the heavens did not yet exist nor the earth below, Apsu the freshwater ocean was there, "the first, the begetter", and Tiamat, the saltwater sea, "she who bore them all"; (cont.)they were "mixing their waters". (cont.) It is thought that female deities are older than male ones in Mesopotamia and Tiamat may have begun as part of the cult of Nammu, a female principle of a watery creative force, with equally strong connections to the underworld, which predates the appearance of Ea-Enki (summerian En-Ki lit. english mighty - Earth/Land ).

I am learning so much from these videos, but acknowledge my 'western' brain knows nothing. But, I humbly disagree that the first 2 verses are a summary or preface. God created and wrote all time "in the beginning". He made its so by launching the ox at the mark. The "Name-as-waters" and "broken pieces of empty pottery" are the creation of life and death, or the design of the spiritual and physical, or soul and vessel.

Nice interpretation, good illustrations, and explanation . But too complicated for a child to understand. God did not ment it this way. If you explain this to a child , you've FAILED. Keep it Simple, and you've done good.
