I love the middle 8 part where it transitions from "Now do you see what you've done?" to the actual "You gotta go domino" part! It's from 6:37 to 7:10.

As I said before i'm trying to make this channel a good place for any Genesis fan, and as you said very well : a window into Tony's World ! I also wanted to share a tutorial view with the overhead camera. I think that if I show how to play, more people will learn it, play it, then Genesis will never die :D

Great job as always. This song was a real gem in the 80s. Next to "Home by the sea / Second home by the sea", probably the next best thing the band did in the 80s, and easily one of their best tracks of any period. I hope they play it again when I see Genesis in December. You figured the parts out great as always. Most of the sounds were spot on, as with your other videos. A few of the sounds sounded a bit different to me. I could also be the combination with other instruments too. I'll have to listen section by section next to the original. I'm so glad you transcribes these parts for us to hear. I hope you get a gig with a Genesis tribute band. You deserve it.

And as always a very great comment too. :) I agree with your analysis, with the Brazilian (which doesn’t count for me since it’s instrumental) this song is for sure the best from invisible touch ! Sadly the next one will be.. invisible touch :( it’s gonna be a tough moment lol. Then turn it on again medley and this tour will be finally done. I won’t do in too deep and in the cage medley, because in too deep wasn’t played at Wembley, and I prefer the turn it on again medley which replaced itc medley at Wembley. (There is also 293902 videos of in the cage on KZbin so...). Moreover this medley include apocalypse in 9/8 played with That’s all organ patch on the Synclavier and there is already 2 vides of apocalypse on my chanel so... yeah The only sounds that are not 100% spot on (but very very close) is the brass part at 5:10, the kind of « wolf scream » since it’s a sample from tony, and maybe the Synclavier lead which has a high filter issue (Can’t do anything against, it’s Arturia..) Thank you mate, I hope too.. wait and see !
@n8goulet
@n8goulet 3 жыл бұрын
@@MathGsr That brass sound is pretty close actually. One of the sounds I was talking about (but not the only one) is the bass part just before it. I assume the bass was combined with real bass, but even so, the end result is much different. Sounds like a lot more than just that bass part you played & an electric bass guitar even just for the repeating part. Not exactly sure why. I'm also hearing what I think are accent parts from the keyboards during those bass parts in some sections I'm not hearing in this video. But overall, fantastic job. Maybe you have a better explanation on what's what are you've really have dug deep on all these songs.
@MathGsr
@MathGsr 3 жыл бұрын
@@n8goulet oh I wouldn’t have thought that you were talking about this one.. By the way it’s the same sound since I used the same preset from the Dx7. It’s also used during the intro of Anything she does, I play this song sometimes because it’s fun. that’s how I found the preset. There is a variation with the velocity and it is also on the video from Wembley but a bit hard to ear since Mike & Daryl play the same. I used a lot of chorus also so in isolated keyboard it can be strange a bit

Tony plays all those Kalimba parts himself live. It is why this is one of the most difficult Genesis tracks to perform from the keyboard side of things because you have all these mappings on the keyboard (emulator) of which sound is where. It is basically custom mapping the played notes out in such a way that you can play all of it with 1 hand. Reserving the pinky for the Fairlight voice and the other fingers for the Kalimba (or you could do it with velocity switching but that's less comfortable in my experience).

I'm learning to play this song but I can't find the galloping sound that starts at 04:31. I think it's a DX7 preset. Can you tell me what sound you used?
@MathGsr
@MathGsr 3 жыл бұрын
Yes it's a DX7 preset! But you won't find it on any Dx7 vst library (even dexed). It's from a very rare ROM.. I used the Land of confusion patch for this one which is not 100% accurate but sounds good imo. There is also an interview from Banks where he plays this sounds alone, you can make a sample from this video but I hate doing this, it's not my philosophy ^^ Banks did sampled the original sound from his Dx7 to play it later as a simple sample for 1992, 2007 and 2021 tour. Check the comment section of my Land of confusion cover, if I remember well I gave the preset name or someone did for sure

Vraiment bon !
@MathGsr
@MathGsr 3 жыл бұрын
