Genesis GV80 2024 review: New Coupe option headlines midlife update for South Korea's BMW X5 rival

The 2024 Genesis GV80 has launched in Australia, with the first-generation large SUV's midlife update headlined by the addition of a new Coupe body-style, which joins the carry-over traditional wagon option. As such, the South Korean model now competes with the BMW X5 and X6 in the highly competitive premium segment.
So, what does the GV80 Coupe bring to the table? Well, it has a unique suspension set-up (although the wagon's has been retuned) and a bespoke design inside and out, including but not limited to 22-inch alloy wheels, a rear spoiler, a flat-bottom sports steering wheel and carbon-fibre interior trim.
In this expert review, CarsGuide Journalist Chris Thompson attends the facelifted GV80's local media launch to shape up the new Coupe and to see if it's a better pick than its tried-and-true wagons sibling, which also now is only available with the gruntier 3.5-litre turbo-petrol V6 engine.
