Yeah, I can't remember how I found them, but I got into the PG era stuff when I was going through my college days looking into all sorts of 'what's out there' kind of music. I grew up in the 80s so I remember hearing Genesis on the radio and was shocked to hear the difference. I really like that, despite the HUGE shift in tone, they still pay tribute to their older music. I mean, Collins wasn't even in the band when Stagnation was recorded, but they still do a great tribute to it.

This was the final European date of their 2007 Turn It On Again Tour in front of 500,000 in Rome. Since the early '70s, it's been said that Italian fans were some of the few that were passionate about Genesis' work (even in their more proggy days). Therefore, it's only fitting that perhaps their biggest audience ever would be at this show. The nod to "Stagnation" was another nice touch. BTW, the performance is killer - and the retrospective clips in the background were awesome as well.

Great show! Excellent song! This version really kicks ass! I miss Peter and Hackett, but Genesis is still my all-time favorite band, most especially during the Trespass to Duke era! Love the '70's era Genesis! The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway is my most beloved album, and Seconds Out is a fantastic live recording! Selling England by the Pound is a masterpiece....along with Foxtrot and Nursery Cryme. I even love Wind and Wuthering and Trick of the Tail. Great albums, even sans Peter.
@CarnorJast11388 жыл бұрын
Excuse me? I've been a Genesis Fan longer than you've been alive. I saw them many times over the years from Peter's era to Phil's era. Both were brilliant times and I love Genesis, no matter who was singing up front. Peter's time with Genesis made some of Progressive Rock's greatest albums, but that doesn't mean Phil couldn't do a great job as helmsman of the band! It gave the band a different sound, and yes, I do think after Duke they took a more commercial turn, but I appreciate what Phil did! I DO have both of Hackett's CD's of Genesis Revisited (1 and 2), and they are fantastic! I also have Hackett's The Tokyo Tapes: Live in Japan, and both Genesis Revisited DVD's, Live at The Royal Albert Hall and Live at Hammersmith. Are they better than the 2007 concert in Rome, titled When In Rome, as far as shows go? I don't think so! I like them all! I am a Genesis FANATIC to the core, and though I miss Peter and Steve being in the band, I still love the shows and I think Phil is a great front-man! You need to chill out, stop with the ALL CAPS posting, and the use of low brow language, and just accept that Peter left for HIS reasons, and so did Hackett! The rest decided to continue the band, and there are some great shows because of that! And not every Genesis fan believes the way you do. Even ones like myself who have followed the band since the early 70's! You need to grow up, get out of mommy's basement and get a life!
