You are very passionate my good sir. I like how you excluded games from the later years. It’s because of the games that came out before is what led to Capcom and Konami to finally make games for the system and I’m sure Nintendo had a little something to do with the hold outs. Great video.

Great video! Since you asked, other early games I would've added are: Quackshot [1991] Devil Crash [1992] Thunderforce III [1990] John Madden Football [1990] M.U.S.H.A. [1991] Phantasy Star II [1990] Batman: The Video Game [1991] Decap Attack [1991] Not to mention many of the early arcade ports like Super Monaco GP, Forgotten Worlds, Midnight Resistance, After Burner II, and Space Harrier. Small criticism: when playing the music tracks separately, I would play them in stereo and increase the volume.

Wow, amazing list! I'm gonna do a Quackshot walkthrough soon. I love that game. Pretty much, I love all the games you mentioned. You're right, I need to play the music entirely separate in stereo. Thank you so much for your feedback. Thank you so much for watching!

I ONLY want remakes. Not reimagining. Already the new Golden Axe looks more like a sequel the G.A: Beast Rider than a sequel to the original. Sega needs a slap.

No Tommy Lasorda Baseball? No Joe Montana Football? None of the great EA Sports titles (though these were multi platform.) Sports games were a critical genre on the Genesis. I’m always surprised how little modern retro gamers talk about them.
@omiglio10 ай бұрын
Yeah, this list did not include any sports games. Don't worry, I cover a few sports games in another video called "Genesis games I love that you probably don't." You might wanna check that one out. I will, however, cover them exclusively on another video created just for Genesis sports games, which, as we know, are phenomenal. Thanks for watching and for commenting.

A good selection of games makes a solid representation, and while there's enough other good games to mention, there's a few that really should've been in there, in my opinion: Ecco The Dolphin Gunstar Heroes Musha Mutant League Football NHL 94 (released in 1993) Road Rash II (or the first one) Thunder Force IV (or one of the prequels) Toejam & Earl
@omiglio10 ай бұрын
Now that's a great list you have. I didn't mention this, but I tried keeping my list short. Only at 10 games, that's why many greats were excluded. Nevertheless, your list is solid and a great representation of the heart of my video. Thanks for watching and for your comment.
@francescosmith785910 ай бұрын
good list. Not looking at a best games but defining games is an interesting take. I think the arcade ports were definitely how Sega tried to sell themselves early on and I think the Disney games were a huge part in showcasing what the Genesis could do. I know they're not as popular but I also think the sports games were a huge part of Sega's strategy and appeal. Joe Montana and John Madden Football, Fifa Soccer and of course the legendary NHL series.

No earthworm Jim why?
@omiglio11 ай бұрын
That's a valid question. This list wasn't about the greatest Genesis games that come to mind. It is more like exclusive titles that helped cement the legacy of this console. Helping to strengthen their case is if they were also a bundle package with Genesis. Earthworm Jim is great, but also recall it's available on SNES. Being available on SNES isn't in itself the issue. The main thing here is that they're identical versions in both SNES and Genny. Therefore, this list is a combination of exclusivity and nostalgia. This is a great question. Thanks for watching!

Even games that are on snes get ignored for being on snes 😂 Once being on the genesis is a staple it felt like snes just got thrown a bone to not feel left out .!! Like who owned that on snes 😂 please.!! SNES is only defined by Mario and Nintendo 10 first party titles .. Genesis has too many games that people fondly remember and not just ten games
@MEBoisv10 ай бұрын
When I was a kid I thought that Aladdin was better on the Genesis because he had a sword. Once I grew up and had a better understanding of game design, I realized that the SNES version is easily superior. I'll take tight, precise platforming over poorly designed swordplay any day of the week.

Got Insector X on my tairo kegend collection for ps2. Has a way more cutiesy look. Never got into Strider. I’m having a bit of a issue with getting a feel for it. Perhaps cause I have it on my sega Genesis mini so there is balway another game to play.

Strider can be difficult to get into now if you didn't play it back then. I'd recommend the one released in 2014 for either the XBOX 1X or PS4. Yeah, the arcade version of Insector X is a cute 'em up. It's totally different from the Geneis version, which is more serious. Thank you for posting your comment. Thanks for watching!

Genesis has so many great games that everyone has different experiences.!!! Me personally I’m not very fond of early games they just die not wow me. & if they did it was not for very long . Like the first sonic … the first stage was built with love and care, But after that everything get’s simple in graphics and level design .!! 🤦🏾♂️ Crude backgrounds colors and simple built structures . I always just wanted more out of my money . Shinobi 3 made me can’t play the ones before it Street of rage 2 made part 1 a distant memory…. No matter how good they were, the snes was out. I wanted my games to keep me happy I didn’t need to touch the snes . Road rash 2 is one of my favorite games of all time..!! Nothing else was like it nowhere else The most let down moments was probe doing the hone conversions of mortal Kombat on the sega Genesis. 😢 Probé was so shit.! All they did was make the genny look bad
@omiglio10 ай бұрын
You're right. Everyone has different experiences that largely shape our view on these classic games. This list is simply based on exclusive games that, like it or not, are forever cemented with this beautiful console. They aren't necessarily the best titles. Just games that will always embody the Sega Genesis. Road Rash was and still is very unique! I'm thinking of doing a video where I talk about Probe and MK2. So keep a look out.
