Watching a fellow drummer go from this to never playing again, singing songs seated in a chair on stage rips into my heart. When you can't play anymore feels like your rug has been pulled from under you. I too no longer play and it's a major loss to one's being. Excellent video and thanx for sharing it. ✌

John Peragine + So true, so true. Regardless of one's opinion on Phil's solo career, the one factor that was and still stands is his amazing drumming, bar none. And on this, I commend him for giving it one last shot at touring, all respects indeed.

What a great post thank you so much. My new favorite album is Selling England, so glad i discovered early Genesis as a huge fan of late Genesis. I have to admit what hit me the hardest was hearing Phils beautiful voice singing More Fool Me. Especially compared to the last tour. A good reminder to not take life for granted, we are all going to get old.

Excellent tribute to an era where multimedia was a word of the future. Artistically the highlight of Genesis career. I was lucky to see The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway quite shortly after this tour, while the band was already in the middle of a breakup with Peter. And now this month I will see Genesis again, in the Last Domino? Tour. It's a full circle. And for those less fortunate there is still the Steve Hackett Band, The Musical Box (with original props and costumes), Gabriel Knights, and The Watch!

Love this. The concert definitely benefits from the dual / harmony vocals of Pete and Phil that give all the early classic songs an eerie depth. An effect that is missing from all subsequent concerts I've seen where Phil is the lead singer. Also an effect that all tribute groups I've seen have missed.

I wonder if the band members actually understand and realise the enormous qualities that exist within the band’s musical output from 1969/70 until 1974/75, with a relatively stable lineup for much of that time. Notwithstanding that they all then went on to successful individual and other partnership endeavours, their early work at that young age, stands the test of time as a defining body of work, during that period, in the entire world of popular/rock music.

I really appreciate the feedback! There's a lot I'd redo in this one if I had the time and attention span😄, starting with using Montreal 74 or Rainbow Theater 73 instead. The last shows of the tour in NY were some of the best performances they ever gave, but the recording is certainly not soundboard-quality. And you're right on the money about the FoF intro, although I'll also add that Banks flubbed the transition from piano to organ more than a few times- leaving Phil to get the ball rolling again. Even the greats...
