Honestly man, I’ve been following you for over a year and it’d be too sad to see the genesis go. I’ve got a 2013 3.8 myself and have gone FBO after watching your videos. Ive also been looking at boosting/engine swapping, and you’re right, it’s not worth it. Think about it like this tho, you keep building your fanbase, make this genesis stand out (FBO doesn’t stand out, too many people are FBO), and you’d rocket your fanbase. I know KZbin isn’t about subs or views, but it is important for you to be able to make enough money. Think about it as an investment. You can still wrap the car, you can still get crazier wheels, boost it, make it insane. After a while, you’ll rack up enough views to pay getting the boost off. Change up your videos a bit, get a better camera, go race the car against others, go to the strip, take it to events, film it all. I can tell you wanna get rid of it, and at the end, do what makes you happy. Don’t listen to strangers online (fans or not) because at the end of the day Youre gynna do whats best for yourself. Even tuned infinities don’t stand out. Yes in the short run it’s worth it to sell your car, but if you’re really gunna shoot this KZbin career off, do something crazy to your car, post videos 2/3 times a week. I can say this, I think a lot of us are tired of watching the same empty roads each video. Go race people, go to the track, do some crazy unique stuff most people won’t be able to do and you’ll skyrocket. Most of us have gens and can go drive them around like you do, but not all of us can go to the track, not all of us can go boosted, not all of us can go race other coupes. That’s my input. Realize that as of right now, your whole fanbase is here for the gen.

Not to mention, you can get a carbon trunk, carbon fenders, carbon hood, some weight reduction without losing driving quality (back seats, trunk, ect.) and be even faster. This cars potential really is up there. It’s not worth it for someone like me to do it, but man if I had the motivation to start youtube and get a bunch of subs and views, 100% I’d do boost and build the car up and get even more fans!

I haven’t even paid over $5k for my 3.8 turbo build with the remnant performance kit, idk where people are pulling $7k out of and you absolutely don’t have to build your motor if you don’t go over 8psi which is 470-500whp range which is solid and will be one fast 3.8

I know you've seen me around and you already know I'm gonna say hell no, boost tf outtaa that 3.8, for me with the genny its the rarity and the underog spirit that put me in one in the first place. Only around 20,000 BK2 3.8's were made for the states. Not to mention building it further would cement you into the KZbin community not to mention the extra publicity from meets being the guy with hyundai burning F.B.O's 5.0's and even vettes. Also to counter offer your "worth" analysis these cars can be up to 1,000 horsepower for around $30k bishimoto proved it. Idk about you but a 600hp coupe for $38k is a hell of a value. BUT I dont plan on ever selling my coupe, I love this car and what it embodies and plan to go full gutted racecar and basically completely rebuilt by me. If your not in the same boat I respect it man. I have been watching forever and would be sad to see you go :( P.S. ORRRR Wait for the new Z, 450 hp tt, proper manual, $40,000 ish new, lightly used $35-37k

Turbo. Remnant Performance turbo kit. $3500 for bk2 all in all for supporting mods/ gauges, it’ll be 430-450whp at 6psi not bad for $4k-$4.5k total the retune isn’t $1k its $500 because you are a return customer so get half off the tune which will be $250 and $250 for big turbo charge. I have personally bought the kit and supporting mods and haven’t even hit $5k and the place that tuned you isn’t Alec from remnant performance who currently has 50+ kits active. Talk to Alec about his own kit. TK kits suck because they’re shitty tunes and overboost easy. Alec from Remnant literally looked at everything wrong and fixed it. Also a centrifugal supercharger won’t be instant boost. Idk where you’re pulling these numbers out of but $7k isn’t near what I’ve spent and I bought kit, headers, gauges, and boost controller. Max I’ll spend is $5k after tune lmao I truly don’t know who lied to you or where you misread these numbers from. Talk to Alec he’ll tell you about his personal test car on the prototype kit, that ran 9-10psi for over a year on an unopened motor, what your tuner claimed he hasn’t seen a 3.8 last. If you’re including labor that’s your problem, a turbo kit isn’t hard to install just time consuming. You talk about how cheaper the used red sport with $3k in it is cheaper and will walk the supra, but you won’t get even $20k for the Genesis so you’d have to pay a pretty penny or get a loan which modding a car you’re making payments on is embarrassing and then the money you’d use for a redsport is what will boost you and walk both the supra and redsport

@@Theedd9991 I’ve seen 3.8s fail after boosting for 3 months that run into ring failure so that’s pretty false. If you don’t know the correct information then don’t go out spreading false info. Tuning isn’t a issues these days. It’s boosting a naturally aspirated block that isn’t suppose to see force induction. The piston, rods , rings are all factors for failure. Some people do get away but most of the time it’s because they baby it and do it for show instead of racing it constantly like most people would anticipate. Btw yes the TK kit tunes are trash. lol

Most people haven’t got a clue what to do and like to push the limits. I’ve seen people as far up as 9-10psi hold on the 3.8 taking it to constant track days and pulls. But in General staying under 8psi is the safest bet, of course there is also the issue of what you mentioned boosting an NA car. The ecu cant account for boost because it doesn’t know how so many things you could do and get away with before, you can no longer while boosted.

I mainly got it just cuz it’s different and a car I really love. Definitely looking into a mustang next tho🙏🏽 I recommend you just sell it and get something different if power is what you’re looking for.

It's not all about power you know. Plenty of style mods can be some after boosting or swapping. But... you've already made up your mind that you're going to a different car. Also as I mentioned, you can save a fortune with getting a q50. A tune gets you serious HP and with the money saved, that equals more mods.

I came to the channel for the Genesis. I bought my BK1 a couple years ago, then found your channel, and a couple others, which made me buy my BK2 because of you and PJ. I plan on learning and tracking mine though. I don't need it to beat a demon, 5.slow, 2.slow, porsche, etc. I just want something i can build up a little and say i did something. Look, you're not the only youtuber who makes a name for himself with a car and then lets it go. but thats usually where people make their mistake. the fanbase they pulled, was for a certain community, and when you betray the community, you lose fans. you'll gain more/different fans when/if you switch. and thats okay too. In the end, you have to ask yourself, what is your goals. are you wanting to build this just absolute beast of a car? beat certain cars or something? because if so, there's someone who's already built something faster. be realistic. if you are tired of this car because it doesn't excite you anymore, then yes get rid of it. if you love the car and its something you're passionate about, keep it. You don't need polls to tell you what to do. In the end, you'll do what you will.

3.8T owner here. 1 year boosted and about 40k miles. If you go boosted maintenace should be on top of the list. Currently at 8psi.

My 3.8 is currently in the shop to get boosted. Hows your been? Any advice. I really don't want to blow my engine. We haven't decided to forge the internals or anything yet. He's waiting on the engine to come back from machine shop so I have time to figure stuff out. He says the engine can safely run on 6-7 psi.

Man, let me tell you what I have been doing this past week. Researching LS3 swaps. Look on imginn website for a guy named "ls3gencoupe." He has a matte red and black Genesis Coupe named "Genette." He built it to a 418 block I think. I have been watching his short videos for a few days now. It sounds amazing with big camshafts. His Genesis coupe is 629.66 wheel horsepower and 610.93 torque with only 7psi. If I had the money, I would definitely swap into this or a JZ. nitish21 is a youtube channel and he has a G35 that is 883whp now. He is trying to reach 900whp. He has a new video titled "Nissan GTR Owner THINKS He Can Gap My BUILT TURBO G35," and someone in the comment section named Yell.e J has been arguing with me back and forth saying LS swap is pointless, and either put lots of money into the 3.8 or get a VR30. I kept telling him Genesis Coupes can only make so much horsepower and I would definitely have to get the motor built if I planned to have over 500whp. Even then, I think people eventually end up blowing the engine. I was never big on LS, nor do I really like corvettes much until this past week, but seeing a 629whp Genesis Coupe with big cams and rumble is amazing. I just watched a video a few minutes ago titled "Camaro LS3 1LE Texas Speed Stage 2 Cam Before & After Dyno." The Camaro before the Stage 2 cam reached 390.19 whp. After the stage 2 was installed and acquired that amazing sound, it reached 477.54 whp. That is an 87.35 (90)whp increase. Genesis Coupes struggle to get 30 or 50 hp. And that was only stage 2. I think they go up to 4 at Texas Speed shop. I plan to keep my car and do something amazing like this with it someday. A genesis coupe keeping up lamborghini and porsche.

Hey man I'm a genesis owner as well and in my opinion you should do what you feel is best for you. I'm kind of in the same boat, I really have a cool vision for my car and would like to turbo it. However, I've had the car for 8 years and feel its important to change things up now and then. So I've been kind of torn on turboing it or just selling it completely. I believe I've come to the decision of carrying out the build and seeing it through. Its my first car and I just can't part with it, so now its just time to acquire the funds! lol

Supercharge. You dont mod entry level cars with the hopes to sell for a profit. You are likely already in the red on the car with the simple mods you have done. Keep it, mod it, love it. Even if you swap cars they still will have the same risk of blowing up. So keep the one you love and make her a beast.

I'm sure you know by now that automatic GCs do not make as much power as the Standard GCs with similar bolt-ons. You will need to get the TCU from the automatic transmission tuned, it provides many benefits to include raising the REV limiter another 400-500 revolutions. Owners who have done this say it made a huge difference.

About 6k you can get a DToz supercharger that is a crazy kit. FBO + that you'll be upper 400 whp knocking on 500. Look for some new Cams from MT Motorsports and some bottom end work and you'll be into the 500s

Personally, I have a 3.8 bk2 like yourself and I’ve been wanting to upgrade my engine for quite some time and I’ve noticed that all the reasons I’ve seen that make these engines blow are the bearings and the connecting rods. So if you got upgraded piston heads/rods with rings and upgraded bearings, you’re spending about anywhere from $2500-3500 and you can run 14-15psi on a turbo. Unfortunately the gen coupe parts are so in demand that the prices are insane so that’s why turbo kits and everything cost so much but if you want to keep the genny and turbo it, creating the support internally with the rods, heads, etc can get you ready for a turbo without the need to rebuild the whole thing. But I love the content you’ve made so far with this genny and I hope whatever decision you make makes you happy in the end 😁

I know it's not really a swap or turbo or pro charger but a different thought on how much power you may gain after putting in the stroker kit with an e85 tune or pump tune. But I would either rotary, swap or rb. My opinion fam but what you do, wont be wrong💪

The dtoz sc kit uses a centrifugal sc which means it makes high peak power. So your statement of I'd go with a sc to make instant power is inaccurate. A positive displacement roots twin screw sc is the sc that makes instant power.

A supercharged 3.8 would be sick In my opinion (not trying to be rude) you aren’t ready for a different car/higher end because it’s very different driving a Hyundai through a field and down a muddy driveway than it is taking some like a Q60 or supra down there. I personally think taking a car like that down is kinda wreaking it. Another option would be going with like a G70 sport with the 3.3T, Or a Genesis with the 5.0 V8 or even a KIA stinger would be sick all those cars are also more practical for your current situation. dont turbo it, these people just want to see it done on someone elses car for the entertainment *which is understandable* but have no idea what theyre actually talking about. i think a few weeks back u liked one of my IG comments explaining this, you will almost 100% have a blown motor if you turbo this car, at the very least you will have to do extra steps to try to prevent it and the car will be a TON less reliable. theres only been a VERY select few to reliably run a turbo on these cars without junking it, and one ive talked to didnt recommend it even though his system worked because it was such a pain. youd have to go so low on boost it almost wouldnt be worth it too. either go all the way with a supercharger (which still wouldnt be huge gains), or pick up a new ride. id just get something new :( if youre into them, but the infiniti q50/60 would be an awesome whip! i just think those cars look SO sexy

To be honest I think that if your gonna sell it and get a new car get a corvette it's basically a entry level super car and the can be boosted and upgraded to 800 plus horsepower easy

wrap the gen as the last thing you’ll do to it just so it could tie everything together then start saving for something new. no point in spending that much money on boost when you could just get something newer/nicer. i own a bk2 so i’m not bashing just being honest.

Hmm what does your heart tell you brotha? I feel like forced induction for the 3.8 will inevitably lead to having to build/repair the engine. I read that some engine components were made lighter to give it more out of the box powered but make it a bad candidate for boost. I personally will supercharge eventually, I think it would be unique and I have my eyes on a super clean kit.. Only thing I'd sell my genesis for would be an RS5 or anything with an inline 6 with a decent aftermarket. Whatever route you go people will still love your content so it's a win win for us anyways 😁

Hey bro I think the mis Inform you, because like the turbo kit is 3500 and add the gauges stuff other stuff you need is like 1k on top of the 3500 and retune is only 500 and installing it with alpha speed is only 1k so in total you'll be 6k not 14k, but end of the day it's up to you what you want to do I was thinking the same thing probably gonna trade it in and get a GTR, The Genesis Coupe it's a little fun sports car a starter to get it to the car community same with the 370s, and infinity G 37 we know that we ain't fast but we would love to be fast one day but we can't, its time to move on to something better!

Then later get another car and basically go nuts. well I'm waiting on my turbo so going the turbo route, bk2 3.8 engine currently at 78k miles. I'd say, if you have the cash money (6k for kit/tune or at least 1.5k if you're gonna finance the $4.3k cost kit from remnant) then turbo. You've already done sooo much to the car as well to make it look damn good and sound good, I'd say stick with it and just go FI. 5-6k aint bad for safe 160WHP gains, and there's only a handful of FI 3.8 gen's in the nation to add to the unique value of that. BUT if you're not loving sitting inside the car anymore, the way the seats got you positioned, the U.I; Then just sell it as high as you can and get the 2021 better version of it (essentially lol); the Q60 Red Sport 400. Goodluck! Also Supercharger way too expensive for less gains than TK.

and again, you can finance the remnant TK, and you can choose how fast you wanna pay it off, and if you pay it off within a a year and a half (235/month) you pretty much avoid all interest on financing, as it only kicks in after a year so you pay like 100$ on interest in return for not having to front 4.3k for the kit.

I personally think turbocharging is a lot harder/better it def puts out more power especially on a V6 that thang would be a mf sleeper on the freeway but supercharger def fits that v6 engine more and it’s easier just giving the engine more air for more power delivery from the jump and try not to forget to get lighter pulleys
