Color blindness, also known as color vision deficiency, is the decreased ability to see color or differences in color.
Color blindness is typically inherited. It is most commonly inherited from mutations on the X chromosome but the mapping of the human genome has shown there are many causative mutations-mutations capable of causing color blindness originate from at least 19 different chromosomes and 56 different genes.
Protanopia, deuteranopia, protanomaly, and deuteranomaly are commonly inherited forms of red-green color blindness which affect a substantial portion of the human population. Those affected have difficulty with discriminating red and green hues due to the absence or mutation of the red or green retinal photoreceptors

I have a question. My dad has RG colourblindness so I'm a carrier with XCXc allele pair. I can pass the Ishihara tests almost perfectly (failed 1 circle) but later discovered that the shades of red I see are different from what people generally agree on- for example, I can't pick out lipstick colours or red dresses properly since I mix them up with pinks, magentas, dark vs bright reds and browns. My question is this: if X-inactivation inactivates the healthy XC from mom then I'd have only the affected Xc left to work with and would that not affect colour perception or cause color distortion even in carriers?

Any treatment in color blindness please reply me bro I'm suffering color blindness
@hussainbiology
@hussainbiology 6 жыл бұрын
As of now there is no general way of treating color blindness , because it is at gene level . So only way to cure is the gene therapy and the genome editing which is presently still in the research process.

You mother might be carrier for color blindness . Presuming u are the male with XY condition.. You have got X chromosome from mother which is defective one and u are colour blindness
@mutate.9601
@mutate.9601 4 жыл бұрын
@@hussainbiology might be carrier means ? She's not colorblind, she can read a full book of Ishihara, and my father too, but me and my brother can't. you may think we are adopted lol but it' is truly false.. btw thanks for this quick reply.
@hussainbiology
@hussainbiology 4 жыл бұрын
I mean she is definitely carrier. See , you mother is XX . and her one X chromosome is defected but this Colour blindness is X linked recessive disease which means in females both chromosomes should be defective in order to have color blindness but in male there is only one X chromosome and if that X chromosome is defective at that time males have Colour blindness. That is why ur mother is okay but she carries one X defective chromosome which she has passed on to u and ur brother.
