Also Temüjin killed some of the people that betrayed Jamukha. The reason was "if you betray your leader that easy you will betray me in a hearth beat." So out of respect and his sworn friend he executed them and handed them over to Jamukha. Temüjin and Jamukha was still sworn friends respected each other even though they were fighting. There was not enough space in the sky for two suns. So one of the eventually had to set.

Great video again, nailed almost everything on it's head. But there was just one thing that I could find of issue; You underplayed the value of Genghis' essential adoption of Borte's illegitimate son. On the Steppe, children like that would have been left to die under normal circumstances, but Genghis didn't do that. He brought the child in, claimed he was his own and very much treated him as his own son. It just goes to show the actual character of this man, behind the facade of the military leader. And it further pokes holes in the "Genghis is a vicious military leader who killed everything in his path" mindset that's so often blindly accepted.

Yep, and as soon as Jochi grew up Genghis put him in charge of an army. He trusted his oldest son as if he was his own.

Jochi was actually supposed to become next Great Khan after Genghis died but his jealous younger brother Chagatai protested, calling him a bastard. For fear of future civil wars, Genghis Khan appointed his 3rd son Ogedai as new crown prince. But it didn't help, as the Jochid family and Chagatai family would feud later and break the Mongol empire. This video is a bit inaccurate in that regard.

It is. In the end, Jamukh loses and flees into mountain. His subordinates capture him and brings him to Chinggis Khaan. But Chinggis Khaan executes the captors saying how he can trust them if they are willing to betray their leader in time of his hardship and releases Jamukh. He forgives him but Jamukh saying how there can be 2 sun existing at the same time under the eternal blue sky and requests to be executed. So Jamukh is executed in the way royal family members are executed, without letting single drop of blood.

Bulidrians If I recall correctly they were a tribe that came from the Ukrainian plains. They did settle in Hungary and would go on to form the Hungarian Kingdom, one of the largest kingdoms in Europe just shy from being more powerful than West Francia (France).

The sounds of battle fade as the two adverseries look each other in the eye. No words come out of their mouth; there is nothing to say. They charge at each other, exchanging weapon blows to test the other's defences. It is clear, they are eaquals. But, in a moment of fate, one slips and the other takes the opportunity to plunge his blade into his opponent's chest. They look at each other one last time. The loser is smiling while the victor is overcome with tears. He gently lays the other down and cries. He did not defeat a rival today. He lost a friend... I believe I have an idea for a story now...

But that's not how Temujin and Jamukha's final ending went. Also sounds like every other cliched battlefield ending.

Unfortunately that is not how things playdd out. After decades of war, Jamuqas forces were reduced to a few, and they lived in the mountains as brigands. Feeling pretty fed up, Jamuqas men turned on him and delivered him to Temujin in chains. These men thought they would be rewarded, but instead Temujin was disgusted by their willingness to even lay a hand on their own lord and had them executed. It was then that Temujin reminded Jamuqa that they had once been blood brothers, and could be again. But Jamuqa refused this offer, and said that there could only be one Mongol lord on the Steppe. He asked instead for a Nobleman's death; a death without spilling his blood, for to the Mongols spilling a noble's blood is taboo. Temunin obliged and had Jamuqa's spine broken, and allegedly buried his one time friend and nemesis with the golden sash that they had exchanged as adults.

We must remember a few things. First Temujin's grandfather had been a Khan (Qabul Khan), but his father didn't become one. And while some clans were more powerful and noble than others Mongol succession is a unique process and not as simple as regular hereditary succession. Merit still plays a large roll in deciding who will be Khan. When a Khan dies his primary wife oversees the Quriltai, where the tribe would decide upon a new khan. close blood did have some sway but the deciding factor was who could be the best Khan for the tribe. Someone with a large army, who's proven himself, is charismatic, and can leave the clans alone, who can be a good arbitrator. Sometimes this process took years to decide and sometimes was a bloddy affair. Also note that even if your Khan your position is never secure. You can be challenge at any time and if many clans didn't attend the Quriltai to vote on Khan then your rule isn't as strong and you'll basically have to subjugate the clans that didn't come.

The movie "Mongol: The Rise Of Genghis Khan" shows a very interesting way that Borte was kidnapped by the Merkits. As she and Temujin are fleeing from them, Temujin takes an arrow to his back. It's not a fatal shot, but he is growing woozy and losing consciousness. Deciding to let herself be captured so her husband can escape, Borte grabs Temujin's riding crop and spurs his horse on so he can get away in time. Now THAT is what I call a loyal wife!

Yep, Bolsheviks vs Royalists, NSDAP vs Weimar Democrats, Racial Collectivists vs Individualist Conservatives. The truth is that Genghis Khan (At least at this point in his history) is more like the US Conservatives. Individualists based on merit and character (At least in theory, Trump is not a good example of this). Reformers are not necessarily the good guys. Extremely often they have been the bad guys.

"-Jamukha came from higher lineage than Temujin" That's not true. Temujin's great grandfather was the founder of the Mongol confederation which included Jamukha's tribe. Temujin's father once led that confederation which you didn't mention. Jamukha and Temujin shared the same ancestors. But Jamukha's line was from a bastard. So his tribe was seen as outsiders by the other Mongols.

Exactly. Jamukha's progenitor Jajirdai was born from a pregnant woman captured by Bodanchar. From him father-son lineage goes like this Bodanchar - Khabich Bagatur- Menen Tudun - Khachi Khulug - Khaidu - Tumbinai Setsen - Khabul khan - Bartan Bagatur - Yesukhei - Temujin. Khabul Khan was the founder of the Mongol confederation.
