Thank you! Was working on reprogramming my Genie keypad for about 4 hours with no success. Held down program and open/close buttons simultaneously, no luck. You said to hold down program, 6, and open/close buttons simultaneously. I did and had the keypad reprogrammed in one minute. This is a very helpful and clear video. Thank you so much!

Bought a house with this keypad, but the PIN the previous owner gave me didn't work. This video did a great job of showing how to clear previous codes and reprogram a new PIN. Saved me some money, because I thought I was going to gave to buy a whole new key pad. Very clear, easy instructions.

I watched five videos and yours was the only one that worked! I spent about an hour doing what the other guys in the other videos did. The big difference I think was your instruction to clear the unit by holding down all three buttons together. Thank you!

i can find my manual, this Video is spot on. I went to Genie's website and how they tell you to program and clear codes did not work for this model (ASD1G) They never mention the "6" key. Thanks for making this Video

Thank you so much for posting this video. I kept getting stuck on one part and was trying to get it to work for probably 30 minutes. You cleared it right up for me and I had it reprogrammed in 5 minutes after watching.

GREAT! Factory does not give clear idea of getting rid of old PIN's. Nowhere did they mention the "6" key!!! Thank YOU!!!

Great job! The wireless keypad instructions once you have erased and reprogramed FAIL to mention now go to learning button on the Power Head to complete the programing. Thank you for putting the two together.

Agreed, thanks for making this. I didn't know that the head unit stores codes as well, I must have held that down too long and cleared my keypad sync. The only thing I would ask is that you cover how to set this up for two openers. My original configuration was the code + up/down + (door # 1 or 2) then up/down again. I tried to add a 1 in the sequence, but couldn't get it to work? Thx!

Very important and I make this mistake every time: You must hold the buttons down for a "long" time (e.g., about a second or so each). If you push them quickly, the remote will not respond as shown. Notice how long he holds each key.

YES-you are so right. I spent wayyy too long on this, and was doing everything correctly, with no luck. The long solid button push was the key.

This should be a pinned top comment! I have been working on this and nothing worked. When I held them down like you suggested, it worked! It made sense when I read this because when using the keypad normally I always need to hold each key down for a second when entering pin. THANK YOU!!!! 😀

how far from the unit should I be when I do the learn button, my unit is stuck on the wall firm not sure if I can slide it up, can I just do it from 9 feet or so away?

Thank you for t he video, however, this model keypad will not program the same as you instructed. I gather it's because I have the "Accelerator" door opener..don't know. Just add four (4) hits of the open/double arrow at the end and then it works!

MY DOOR KEYPAD WAS WORKING UNTIL MY IT GOT WET FROM A POWERWASHER. I CHANGED THE BATTERY BUT THE LIGHT ON THE UNIT DOSN,T LIGHT UP OR WORK. THE DOOR STILL GOES UP AND DOWN FROM A ANOTHER OUTLET BUTTON INSIDE THE GARAGE AND ALSO WORKS FROM MY CAR.
