Great video! I had ordered both the Genie Wireless Keypad and Genie Wall Console. The wall console directions were pretty straight forward, but the wireless keypad directions were a lot more fuzzy. The video cut through all that fuzziness and just gave the brass tacks and left out all the fluff from the written directions. It also helps watching the video being a visual learner. Thanks for taking the frustration out of it!

One step is missing if you have an older opener. The LED needs to be red (shown when you press a button) to work with all openers. To switch from green to red, enter the passcode (default is 3, 5, 7, arrow key). Then hold the PROGRAM button until the LED switches from green to red. Excellent video!

Great video! But I think one small step is assumed. On a new unit you use the factory code and program key to set your new PIN. And that works without using the program button on the main power unit. Addition PIN changes will require that the PROGRAM button on the main power unit be activated before a PIN change.

And for those unclear about this: when you add doors 2 and/or 3, the first door automatically becomes number 1. In that if you have multiple doors, you need to hit your code, the up/down button and then 1, to open or close door number 1.

As mentioned, the doors must be closed to program. I also found it helpful to do this in low light conditions, or you won't be able to properly see the keypad. Have a ladder on hand to be able to reach the programming button on the opener.

Our older opener will only allow 6 remotes. Old broken remotes still programmed in there. When we added keypad, one of our 4 remotes quit working. Reprogrammed remote, new keypad quit working. Book says we must erase all remotes from opener by holding down learn button till blinking stops, then reprogram up to 6 remotes. Thanks for video

Another note i found after 500 attempts to pair the opened with the door is that i had to enter the 357 code slowly, a button every 2 seconds or so otherwise it would give me the error flash. When i entered it slowly eventually it worked.

If nothing is working for anyone. Make sure your opener is not locked. Took my hours to realize but there was a lock option on the wired opener on my wall and it was set to lock

Good video... much better than manual! If your keypad stopped working (like mine did) and the batteries are OK, try taking it apart and cleaning the keypad and battery contacts. The unit is very well built as remotes go, and the problem is likely to be due to dirt or corrosion.

I recently changed the batteries in my wireless keypad and the keypad will not open or close my garage door When I first placed new batteries in it when I pressed a button the backlight on the numbers flashed I gave the batteries a try again earlier before I came to this thread and the backlights lit up solid but I don’t think I was able to get the garage door to run so I didn’t enter my code to try it Maybe I need to let the batteries “charge” or something (I DO NOT MEAN ”CHARGE” like you charge your iPhone battery but I mean let the keypad warm up to the motherboard If that doesn’t work then I’ll check for dirt and corrosion UPDATE: my keypad STILL DOES NOT WORK I LITERALLY CHANGED THE 🔋🔋 ALMOST A MONTH AGO

My keypad has worked I want door successfully for the last year. I added a new genie opener to the second door last week. Had them installed for almost a year before configuring the keypads. Had to watch the video a few times. However if you follow the instructions it will work. I would add, if you have 2 doors, you have to program the first door. Then once you've programmed the first door then you're just adding a 2nd or 3rd door. The video wasn't 100% clear about that and I'm quite a handy guy in general. If anyone from the company is reading this, I wonder if there is also an app for this to work on my phone?

I thought I did something wrong when the door kept operating after I did the factory reset on the code. Turned it it's just that if you hit any key too soon after putting in the code any key will open it. I couldn't program the new code because the door kept opening. I just let it sit a minute then programmed the new code and it worked.

This is the panic feature of the keypad, as long as the back lights stay on you'll be able to press any button and any key will open the door, this will last from 15-30 seconds. once all lights are off, you can fully reenter the pin

I watched all the videos and tried all the tricks and resets. Nothing worked. Finally when I was just going to give up I decided to try once more. I opened the cover, the battery cover popped off, there was a hissing sound, and a tiny blue genie popped out of the remote and flipped me off

What if I want to control two doors and I want to open door number one? You say to hit the pin, up, then 2 or 3. What if it’s the primary door I want to open? Also, you say current pin then say pin when talking about the second door. I thought the second door got a different pin, this screwed me up several times

That is the built in panic feature. That is supposed to happen, and depending on which model keypad you have, the backlights will stay on from 15-30 seconds in that time frame any button will activate the door.

Every time you press a button the LED indicator should flash. If it is not flashing could be that the button isn't sensing the press, or possibly you may need a replacement.

@@tonysarmiento4629 the keypad has a "panic" feature built into it, you will (depending on the model) have either 30 seconds or 15 seconds that the lights on the keypad stays on after using. in that time frame any button will activate the door.

There are 2 important steps to take BEFORE starting the process. 1st: REMOVE the keypad if its installed, (or do not install new one until AFTER the process is completed). Keep keypad in hand. 2nd: Shut the damnn door! You wont have to worry about running out that crucial 30 seconds as you fall off the ladder to sprint like a fool getting to the keypad outside of the door you just closed. I learned that the hard way 😂😂😂

Everything seems to operate as directed except... when using the keypad or openers, instead of opening or closing my garage door, the motor box just clicks?? The wall mount button opens and closes it without any issues though.

Good luck reaching Genie Tech Support by phone. Hold time was two hours. They did offer a call back option which I used. The call came early while I was working outside. Not Genie's fault but nonetheless frustrating. Now, I'll try the video.

As long as you are not clearing out the receiver memory. So if you have a learn code button, do not hold the learn code button in as that will reset the remote.

No you simply follow the steps 357 program, then your pin, then program. Then go to the opener press the prog/set once when it blinks purple, go back to the keypad, put in your pin, and hit the updown arrow 3-4 times. Then when you use it, just the pin, and the updown arrow key.
