In the eighth round of Tal Memorial 2018 Vishy Anand played a fantastic combination to beat Alexander Grischuk. Don't miss Grischuk's expression!!

That's true.Anand is a modest and warm hearted person.He is such a natural chess genius and has so many achievements (including 5 WC titles),yet he is very humble.He always talks to his opponents and is never the boasting kind.I haven't come across any chess player who dislikes him personally.He is respected by everyone. He is a good role model for young chess players everywhere.A true chess legend and fine human being.

Anand is simply a genius! The moves were deadly. If Anand sacrifices, it means you are dead! Why on earth is a player of this calibre not a part of Candidates '18? Meanwhile, Grischuk is a true sportsman, letting the mate be seen on the board, and not running away after the loss like an egomaniac, and learning from the maestro himself!

1st killer move at 2:11 Rg5, if pawn takes than pawn taken with check loosing queen for black 2nd killer move at 2:55, Ng5 check, forking queen, so black has to accept sacrifice or lose queen. After pawn takes, it is mate in 2 by rook sacrifice to dislocate queen.

@insomnia204226 жыл бұрын

@333winner3336 жыл бұрын
You're absolutely ignoring the fact that even at the age of 48, Anand is 1.) the current Rapid World Champion, 2.) he won the Tal Memorial just 2 weeks ago 3.) He won bronze at the World Blitz Championship. Anand really is a much better choice over Kramnik for the Candidates Tournament.
@333winner3336 жыл бұрын
Joe Dorben If "Rapid and Blitz dont say much", even ratings don't. Take a look at the Candidate's tournament that just ended for example. Wesley So (ranked 2800) was just horrible. Caruana and Karjakin, meanwhile, who led all through the tournament were the lowest rated players among the candidates. Secondly, if you are doubtful about Vishy in Classical, take a look at the last Candidates Tournament, he performed pretty well - tying with Caruana for the 2nd place. Just compare Anand’s performance there (7.5 pts, 2nd place) to Kramniks performance at this year’s candidates tournament (6.5 pts, 5th place), and you have your answer.
@333winner3336 жыл бұрын
Gosh dude, now you're just contradicting yourself. Apart from So's, this was Ding Liren's first Candidates as well (who's much lower rated) and he played much better than So. Thats exactly what I'm trying to tell you: ratings are hardly a deciding factor when comparing players. And "If Anand truly deserved to be in the Candidates he would have qualified" - what? Kramnik didn't "qualify" either, he was this tournament's wild-card player ( at every Candidates tourney 1 out of the 8 candidates is randomly chosen by the organizers), which is sensible because Anand played in the last 7 WC/Candidates (5 as the defending World Champion, 1 as the Candidates winner, then finishing the last on at 2nd) and they wanted someone new to add some excitement. So Kramnik being picked as the wild-card also is hardly any testament to his merit exceeding Anand's. In the end, both Anand and Kramnik are legends of the game and still running strong. But I believe Anand would have performed better at this tournament.
