I'm always apprehensive about sharing my thoughts on things that might cause personal offense to someone else. Please accept what I'm sharing here in the spirit of helpfulness in which it's given. I trust that we're all on our own path making the decisions we think are best for us and our families. Anything I say is not meant in any way to be judgmental toward someone else.
In this video I talk about how my pregnancy is progressing, I share some of the fabric we've chosen to make bedding for our new baby girl and I talk about how we "have a spell cast over" (aka genjutsu) that often causes us to make choices and decisions we wouldn't otherwise. I find it helpful to having a guiding truth/principle by which to evaluate life's choices and trust that the outcome of those decisions is God's will no matter if it's "positive" or "negative."

Andrea, He answered your prayer- your message came through powerfully and clearly. It’s such an essential message! I know I’m considered dangerous and foolish because of some of the choices I make in life, but God’s Word has cut through the lies and shown me His truth. We need more and more of His Word to counteract the ‘genjutsu’. Let’s fill our minds and hearts with it day and night like Psalm 1 says! Blessings.

Thanks all of you for your encouraging comments. Andrea was very nervous she was going to stir up the trolls by this video, and it's nice to see the support. As a side note, the japanese word for "reality" is "Genjitsu" but the word that Naruto uses for the illusion is "Genjutsu" which kind of translates to "reality technique..." since I am a nerd, these things excite me :)

You guys are amazing!! Would love a sit-down video with you one day Tom where you talk about how things changed for you as if I recall correctly, you said in one of the first dinner videos that you had always expected hospital births and homeschool and so on. It's quite the change to have had! Would LOVE to hear you speak on this. Would also love to know how you as "head of the house" decide when something like going to the Dr may be necessary for Andrea during pregnancy if she feels it isn't necessary and how you two come to those types of decisions. I realize Andrea didn't go to the hospital for fainting, but I know a lot of people would have (I never did when I was pregnant but for some, they freak right out), so how do you keep your cool and feel confident that it's normal versus a true emergency and so on!? I really hope this doesn't come across as judgemental because I am pro-natural and LOVE Andrea's videos and calm approach, would just love to know a bit on how you feel about these same issues and what helped you get to this place of peace. Thanks so much!!

Tom Mills There's always going to be people that are going to make snarky comments just because they believe that if you do anything in life that is not considered the " norm" , or exactly what they do, then you're wrong. But those are your kids, your family, you do whatever you and Andrea think is right! Merry Christmas, I'll be praying for a smooth, easy delivery.

Tom, I want you to know how much this video of Andrea has influenced my husband and I. Andrea had an incredible gift of explaining things so clearly. She explained exactly how I have been feeling in my heart but have been too afraid to fully put into practice in our family. But through watching this and talking about it together my husband and I feel confident enough to make some fairly major life changes, even though we know we will be going against what most people around us would think we should do, following God's plan rather than what society has taught us we should do. What an amazing women of God Andrea was. Even since she has gone to Glory Andrea continues to help so many to follow and serve our Lord and saviour. I am so grateful for these precious videos, I am learning so much. I pray that God would give you the strength and all you need to continue raising your precious children to know and love Him. You are all in my thoughts and prayers so often. Blessings from New Zealand.

I think what we also need to remember regarding childbirth is that for almost all of human history women have been giving birth at home and very often they surrounded themselves with women elders and/or wise women. It's only in the last 100 years that women have been encouraged to birth away from their homes and with strangers and men.

Andrea, this is beautiful. It hit home because after 3 children in 4 years our family convinced us that it was enough because that is what society says is too many. My husband had a vasectomy very quickly after our 3rd. Now we have been fostering for 3 years. We have adopted a 4th baby but we still have the deep feeling of regret with the vasectomy. We have been praying about a reversal but haven't received a clear answer yet. Until we do, we are caring for the mother and fatherless. Your videos are what I go to for 2 reasons: 1- when I need a deep thought/prayer provoking motivation or when I need to be reminded that their are people who think that the bible was created as a guideline for us to follow. Thank you for your ministry. It makes a huge impact. Merry Christmas!

As a nurse I agree with what you are saying. I am thankful for modern medicine in so many areas. But I am also thankful that the medical community is also turning to Holistic care. The human body has a marvelous ability to heal itself! With nurturing and caring it will often need no outside interference. You monitor your nutrition, rest etc. This gives your body the ability to do its job. I sometimes get frustrated that my patients can't or won't understand this. They feel that we must have a pill or procedure that will "fix" them without any effort on their part of changing their lifestyle. Also the loss of maternal life in early years was due to infection. Women were giving birth in an environment of poor hygiene and and disease. As we have come to understand the importance of just hand washing this has decreased considerably! I am all for home births as long as Mom is healthy and does not have a preexisting problem such as diabetes or a history of pre eclampssia, etc. You are so interesting to listen too. Thank you for these video chats.

Andrea-you are a beautiful woman inside and out. I LOVE how deeply you think about things and then communicate so clearly (even when pregnant!! impressive :) ) and you communicate so GRACIOUSLY. For a long time I have thought about this whole genjustsu idea (without knowing that word) and how it relates to us practically in our everyday lives and in the choices we make broadly and specifically. I have also thought about how these genjustsus figure into things on a spiritual level.I think there is sooo much there to unpack and I loved hearing your thoughts on this topic and so appreciate it. And I do think you communicated it all very graciously, as you always do.

Dear Andrea 😇, Your teachings were masterful! I can't get enough of your wisdom. Thank you for the legacy you left behind for us all to continue learning from 💗. I felt in no way that you were pressing your beliefs on us. I see it as though you were taking a stance on what you firmly believed. We should all have that confidence. The best advice ALWAYS comes from God! I've learned the hard way, after taking so much advice from people who only know what they want out of life, and don't have an open mind about how others would prefer to live theirs. They meant well, but you feel me. I never connected with you in life, but truly cherish what I have found in you. A precious light you continue to be in all our lives. RIP 💖. God bless your family!

Most of my family thinks we should have stopped at 2 children, but then I look at my third and think how could anybody say his life is not worth living? We hope to have many more, and I look forward to the day that God blesses us with more! ❤️ We live in a small 2 bedroom house with our three children, and although I know we do need another bedroom (so we don't have both genders together when they are older) I don't believe that we need a huge house with all the bells and whistles. How would I ever have time to clean it anyway? 😂 We also homeschool, and many people are just waiting for my children to fail and then they'll think they were right, but so far my children are excelling in the environment that God meant for them to be in! 🏡 With my first labour they pulled the placenta out to hard/quickly and it caused me to hemorrhage. I really wish we had midwifes here! I would need help with a home birth because my husband can't do blood at all, but I don't like the hospital setting!

Bless you, Andrea! Thank you for boldly sharing your beliefs. Your words really spoke to me. I'm a "mom" of 9...sort of 🤔 I truly believe in God's provisions and my life is a living testimony of His love and provision. But after I had my first child I received a prophecy from God. As our human nature often does, I and several others who had a role in this prophecy interpreted the message in our own way. Well, shortly after receiving that prophetic message my life situation changed drastically and I never did see the prophecy come to fruitation...not as we had interpreted it within our human limitations. But, just a little over a year from receiving that prophecy I found myself sitting on a blanket in my back yard, surrounded by five young children. THIS was the prophetic vision that had been revealed to me the year before! Trying to make a long story shorter, after my first marriage failed I went through two more relationships. It was during this, the second one, that God revealed to me His prophetic vision and with that Revelation I chose to pursue that relationship and God has truly provided for and blessed us abundantly over the years. Now, we are raising four granddaughters. And so, a woman who could only give birth to two children, I have long suffered from endometriosis, ended up raising nine children...so far! I add the so far only because only God truly knows when my "mom" duties will actually end and I am open to receive whatever task He sets before me because I trust Him to guide my steps and provide along the way. Again I say, bless you, Andrea!

You are a beautiful example of the idea that accepting children as a blessing doesn't always mean they come from your own body. It has nothing to do with how many children you bear; it's about a willingness to serve.

You are always so encouraging, never offensive because you do not speak "down" to people who may be doing the opposite of you, you are just sharing your family/life and it is really a blessing! It is also a huge comfort knowing there is someone else that believes/feels like I do. When we had our first unassisted birth in 2010, it was so hard hearing other people's "opinions" & not knowing how to respond. I actually had someone say that if they didn't birth in the hospital that their baby would have died. They said it in such a way to make it seem like it was a miracle that my baby was fine & like I was some crazy person. But that didn't stop us from having another unassisted birth in 2013, both births were amazing & so much easier than my 3 previous hospital births. I never wanted another hospital birth. When I was pregnant again and due in August 2015, we were planning to have an unassisted birth again(we also did self pregnancy care with our 2 unassisted births) but towards the end of my pregnancy around 37 weeks I think, certain people started talking about my safety during birth and how they thought it would be better to go to a hospital just in case. Being that this was a close family member and not a random stranger I started having second thoughts. I decided to go in for a reassuring check up, the whole time feeling like a fool because we were "those people" who had 2 out of hospital births. Well everything went down hill from there, very similar to your experience with Claudia, they told my fluids were low & wanted to keep me to be monitored & give me IV fluids, after a couple hours we went home. We had to go back in the next few days to make sure my fluids were good. They said they weren't exactly where they wanted them still so we had to do a fetal kick count, of course that didn't give them the results they wanted so the Dr. said she strongly suggested we be induced, looking back on it I really wished we just went home but because of the Genjutsu we went along with her suggestion, fearing something could be wrong with the baby. That was around 1pm, went to the hospital, they started the pitocin, it was later that might, just after 9pm that my baby girl was born, right before she was born the Dr. came in to break my water(different Dr. than before), she said there was no way my fluid was low. Thankfully all was well with me and baby but I just felt so bad that she wasn't allowed to come at her time. This video really spoke to me because of it wasn't for the Genjutsu, we wukd of had another unassisted birth at home, where I could recover in the comfort of my home & quicker than at a hospital. I know everyone is different but homebirth is definitely better for me and it so nice to hear others talk good about it. :)

I had such a profound sense of grief after Claudia was born. In some ways, it was a catalyst for me to start my KZbin channel. She was 3 months old when I started. I couldn't change what happened, but I needed to talk about it and do what I could do be a voice for other women. I think there are far more of us than we know who feel the need to birth differently, but it's so hard to find the courage because the genjutsu is so strong.

I've had three home births and one center birth with midwives, not unassisted completely but I do like to labor alone and my husband has caught our babies. Looking online years ago I discovered the world of unassisted birthing and that is what led me to my educated decisions to birth at home with a midwife instead of at the hospital. I am thankful for our freedom as mothers to not be forced to birth a certain way when we believe another may be best. Good luck!

Andrea, I just *had* to comment and encourage you how glad I am that you shared this video! You are exactly right about the false allusions and false securities that this world tries to get us to put our hope in. You are gifted in formulating your thoughts and articulating them. I have all the same thoughts but it's more of a jumbled mess, and I appreciate your ability to communicate them. As a foster family who added 5 foster children to our 3 biological children for 18 months, we had 8 children *under* the age of 8, many of them severely affected by trauma. Everything in me and around me screamed that it was absurd and something we couldn't do. But every morning when I read God's Word I saw a different Truth- that was my spinning top. Regrettably, there was a point when we listened to the spell cast on us and got too scared of a threat against our own biological kids. We asked that most of the foster kids be moved to other homes. My husband and I deeply, deeply regret that choice. We are now praying that God gives us another chance to do it all again. Of course the circumstances will most likely be different. But we pray that the Lord again takes us to the end of ourselves, to the end of the false world that we can see, and holds us as we jump off. I want to make a video about that someday soon. I just need to get the words organized in my mind 😜. So thank you Andrea for being brave, and sharing the truth in this video. ❤️

I always love your videos and your wonderful insights. I do agree that we can be duped into what is supposedly "normal" when that isn't the truth. I struggle with the fact that I've had my tubes tied and what God feels about that, but I do believe that not everyone is meant to have an unlimited number of children. I have a genetic disease that makes it much more dangerous to have children with each pregnancy and to compound matters, I don't have the mental stability to have more children. Another child would not make our lives imperfect but I do feel complete in the two living children we have with us after the struggles we have had. I love your heart for sharing your thoughts and beliefs in a nonjudgmental way.

Love your vlog. I have been watching your videos for a while now and totally understand what you are saying. Not everyone has to agree with someones choices and ideas, but we can all be kind. I had never thought of the way that you talked about today, but after listening, I totally agree! Thank you for being so caring and KIND to everyone and worring about others feelings. You certainly do not see that much these days.

I’ve felt most, if not all, of what you are saying but have not been able to put it in to words. Mostly I have just thought I had a different mindset than the norm but have never felt bad about it just confused! Thanks for summing it up for me!!! It helps to know yourself and what you really think and want rather than just feeling something and being confused by what you really think. Merry Christmas and God bless you and your family!!!

I have also been thinking about your piece of thought associations and I have a problem that is not too dissimilar from yours. I will keep what you said in memory and catch myself when I do it and redirect myself to thinking about something else. Again, thank you for your honesty and candor which is so lacking on social media. All of my best to you.

Hi Andrea, Here in the Netherlands, most women give birth at home with a midwife. But more and more women choose for a hospitalbirth, in case of complications. The American ideas are overtaking the norm and ideas of the people here. And I think that is so sad, because it is based on fear. So I think I know what you mean with the genjutsu. Thinking outside of the box is a beautiful thing. Keep up the good work/videos. I love them!

I completely understand and agree with what you are saying about birth in regards to 'risks', place of birth, unnecessary interventions, support ppl etc. The majority of health care professionals in the birthing arena care more about control than they do about actual care.

Ok I only have one child so Im no expert but honestly I agree people have given birth for years without a hospital or doctor so your decision to do so is completely amazing to me. Everytime I went to my once a month apt they just checked my pressure weight and height did a sonogram asked how I was and sent me on my way nothing special and it cost me thousands if I was as confident in myself Id do it home alone too...But I needed that epidural Im a wuss for pain xoxo love the videos and watching you and the family

Although this is anecdotal, I will say that over the past several years, there have been way too many new mothers and babies lost during, or immediately following, birth. (This is in my life and hearing from people I know, not always directly someone I know.) I sometimes think I would like to go back to my younger days and do this pregnancy and childbirth thing over again. I went with a midwife because I wanted the least intrusive experience. And yet, I ended up being induced, had prolonged labor with lots of medical "stuff", and a c-section, all very intrusive. I KNOW in the depths of my heart that it was because he was not ready to come out yet and if I had advocated for myself and him and let him and my body do what it was made to do, things would have went differently. Yes, my son was healthy and for some they say that's all that matters but I had ongoing complications from the c-section which made it difficult to care for him initially and didn't let us bond at first as we should have. I think everything came out as you intended. I completely "got it" and it really does make sense. I can see in my own life how I have wiggled my way out of some of those genjutsus (es?). Commercialism/consumerism being the major one. I don't know if this falls under that category but I also embrace more of a minimalistic mindset as I've grown older. What I do buy, with rare exception, is thrifted or from Facebook resale groups. I'm not at 100% with any of it and I am totally guilty of splurging on some frivolous thing now and again. Good video, Andrea, and definitely gives one some things to ponder on.

debbieomi-I am shocked that you have heard of several mothers dying during or after childbirth, I've never heard of one mom dying in my lifetime. (that info would spread like wildfire in our community). I've always known of the possibility, but it is so unheard of that we take it for granted I guess.

Hi Andrea, I am a new subscriber and do enjoy your videos. Although I do not share many of your views I always like to hear a different take on how one lives their life, many times I learn something. I give you much credit and respect for being true to what you believe. I do however have a huge problem with closed minded people who have the audacity to tell others how they should live , how many children they should have or how they should birth those children. The woman you spoke of was way out of line! I have 5 children, ages 46, 45, 44, 42 & 18. I have never thought of my 18 year old as unwanted or burdensome or a embarrassing surprise as many friends and family members hinted at, both my husband and myself felt so blessed that there were no words to explain at the time. Please continue to speak your mind & heart. You really are quite a breath of fresh air in what can be a difficult world. Your children are beautiful both physically and spiritually so you and Tom must be doing something right. Merry Christmas to you and your family with wishes of Health, Happiness and Joy for 2018!

I'm constantly amazed at the things you think about, Andrea, and there is so much in what you say that hits home to me , as I listen to your 'chats' :) I come from a large family, although we weren't as close as yours is, so I didn't get to experience the things that your children are experiencing with each other, right now - and so I love to watch your vids of everyday life, and how your children react to each other so lovingly. I only have one child, by the grace of God - my miracle baby - as I was told from a young age that, due to ongoing health problems, I'd never have children. But my beautiful girl was born to me - in a hospital - but my husband was actually the one who delivered her, took the cord from around her neck as she was born, and watched her first breath. The midwife thought I'd be a long time birthing, so went out for a break, and that's when my girl chose to be delivered! :) It's something that my husband and I have as the most wonderful of memories, and it made us closer than ever, to each other, and to our child :) I get what you mean about 'Genjutsu' though, as this prevented me having the courage to home-school my only child - although my biggest worry there, was that she would be on her own all the time - which, as it happens, wouldn't have been as much of a problem, as going to school became for her :( Anyway, I love that your whole family rely on each other, and totally on God, to steer your paths in life, and I ook forward to seeing your new edition when she comes into the world. Happy Christmas Andrea, to you and all your extended family, and may your New Year, of 2018, be a most wonderful year to you all! :)

Birthing with your husband is such an immensely bonding experience. I wonder what marriages would be like if everyone got to have that intimate welcome for their children. For our early births, Tom was relegated to 3rd or 4th fiddle. When Sophia came and it was just him and I, it was the most special time for us. Sophia, also, seems to have bonded with Tom in a different way than our children did that were born with others present.

I always enjoy your heart to heart talks. You always encourage me in my walk with the Lord as well as where He has led our family. We have been blessed with 8 children and 3 await us in heaven. I would love to have more if He so chooses to bless, I am soon to be 48 and realize my fertility may be over, but remain hopeful all the same. We have had 5 home births and how I wish I had all of them at home. We also are a "home school" family and have since day one. What you shared really helped to concrete the decisions we have made over the years, I am very thankful that I didn't listen to the over powering voices that screamed how foolish we were and continue to be. Thank you for sharing! You are a blessing! I love your fabrics for your new little one.

I love all of your videos but this is by far my very favorite type. Your thoughts are always both thought-provoking and encouraging. As far as I can tell, I agree with almost all of your theology and we think in much the same way, but it's still powerful and uplifting to have these occasional reminders and encouragements. It really means a lot to me and I thank you for sharing it. All the time you were talking about false reality, I kept thinking about Ephesians 6:12-18 and 2 Corinthians 10:3-5.* We must understand that the world around us is filled with illusions -- some created with the intent to deceive but many created with the best of intentions -- and we can only discern them by viewing it with our spiritual eyes and the wisdom that God provides. Only by covering ourselves with truth, righteousness, the good news of his peace, faith, scripture, and lots of prayer can we experience the fullness of the wonderful reality that he has prepared for us. * A slightly abbreviated version of those passages for anyone who might not be familiar with them: Ephesians 6:12-18 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against... the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that... you may be able to stand your ground... with the belt of truth... the breastplate of righteousness... and with your feet fitted with the readiness [of] the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. 2 Corinthians 10:3-5 For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does. The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ. If you want to see the full verses and don't have a Bible handy, I highly recommend biblegateway.com. The quotes above are from the NIV. :-)
