Here in Canada, couldn't buy the Genmax product due to dollar difference , shipping, and customs, so bought the almost identical unit TMG 10500 at the same price in Canadian dollars for use with my Generlink for home backup on natural gas. Used it yesterday for a scheduled 7 hour maintenance window by the utility, and I am very satisfied with this unit.. Genmax, Pulsar and TMG come from the same factory in China, and after investigating this companies tecnical and marketing capabilities, I am impressed that these generators are not Chinese junk. Ran it up to 8000 watts on NG until it triggered the breaker. Ran the heaviest devices in the home including the natural gas clothes dryer (5000 watts) but not all at the same time. For normal home use, this thing is idling at around 3000 to 3500 watts all the while drawing cheap NG at 18 cents a cubic foot. I am totally satisfied with this unit for whole home backup and using it allows you to continue on normally in your home during and indefinite power outage.

Hello Gavin...it has been awhile since I have been on the channel. I hope you are doing well! Whooaaa...what a powerhouse!! Thank you for demo'ing the maintenance of this model!! I will go back in your library to see the video to cover this models spec's. I have a 5500w generac-esque open frame that I got from Lowe's 21ish years ago. It still starts on the first pull. I do have to keep a partial choke on to get rid of a small bit of rough running. I am guessing I need to pull of the carborator and clean the jets. That generator has saved our fridge/freezer several times. We lived in NC for 15 of those 21 years and would lose our power in the ice storms that hit our area. The longest outage was approx 5 days. So, I would normally power our house to get our fridge down to temperature, and then I would hook up my neighbors house to keep their fridge good. If I would have only had something like this model, I could have powered both of the houses at the same time (minus the a/c's and hot water heaters). Have a great day!!

The battery tender that I have (bought for a motorcycle but now used for my Champion generator) didn't work on this generator battery because the pins on the connection are reversed from normal. I suppose I could wire up a reversing adapter. Or maybe they just wired up the battery backwards? Time to pull out the wiring diagram in the back of the manual.

I’m pulling mine out of the box. Where is the video to set up the Genmax 10500? Any thing specific I need to do on setup? Change the oil after the initial start up? Do I need to put a load on it or just fire it up for 30 minutes to an hour?
@stevesmith1291 Жыл бұрын
Great video sir on the storage process. What is the proper break in procedure for these generators? I haven’t really found any good detailed consistent videos on this online. When do you do the first oil change and what type of load should be placed on the generator at what intervals during the break in period? Thanks in advance.
@GeneratorReviews Жыл бұрын
I will make a video of that procedure and post it soon.

Hi Gavin! Thanks for these amazing videos. Does the carburetor collect liquid fuel like that even if you are using LPG or NG only? I am a generator newbie. Super excited we just received this unit last week.

Gavin, really struggling here. Love the thought of ng, but still trying to decide between two inverter generators vs the larger one in this video. Didn’t want the bulky generators, but since I had an interlock installed with a 50Amp plug, not sure how i should go about running pool, 5 ton AC, (mostly furnace due to winter). Of course I would have other items on it as well. Any recommendations?

Hands-down without zero hesitation, go with the bigger generator you won’t regret it.

Great videos, doesn't draining the carb dry out the rubber o rings and bushings?
@GeneratorReviews6 ай бұрын
Leaving gas in the carburetor is the worse thing ever, it dries and gums up all the jets. Spray some fogging oil in the tank and carb instead

How many hours do you put on it, till you switch to synthetic?

@@GeneratorReviews Any word on these items yet?
@johnbauman40052 ай бұрын
Spoke with Genmax Support today. They said it takes an M18 x 2.5 dipstick. These are available on Amazon, but you have to look at the illustrations and/or descriptions to find this info. However, their mechanic recommended against adding a magnetic dipstick (unless the generator comes with one, which apparently some of the smaller ones do). I did not get a clear explanation as to why this is the case though. Have decided to hold off on this for now at least.

Hello Gavin, I know you're busy was hoping you could help. I bought mine about 3 weeks ago. Started it on propane and ran it for about 30mins or so. I got it out this week again just to do another test run, and it will not start. It acts like it will start as the engine turns over, but it cuts off after a few second. Do you have any ideas?
@GeneratorReviews Жыл бұрын
Hey Keith, you must’ve got it from someone else because you would have called me Direct for help. Anyways, go ahead and check the oil it should be coming all the way up to the first threads.

What kind of oil did you use? I just got mine and ran it for 1 hour with full synthetic 10w-30. But apparently I was supposed to use conventional for break in period? For full synthetic ppl on yt say to use 5w-30. Can you please advise?

Don’t use full synthetic oil until it’s broken in 10 W 30 conventional oil first
