The best coaches I had growing up were the ones that could figure out what was the best way to motivate a player, whether that be yelling, positive reinforcement, or the one that always motivated me, disappointment. I never reacted well to coaches that yelled. But if a coach made me feel like i was a disappointment, that they expected more of me and that I'd let them down, that always made the biggest impact. But i definitely played with guys that needed to be screamed at.

Good on him. Having kids & grandkids that span from 1970 through late 2020 I agree. The different generations respond very differently to approach. I also like the training vs practice. Thanks, Robin.

A good boss (coach) knows their people and how to motivate and get the best out of them. What works on one person may have the opposite effect on the next. Don’t know when that interview was recorded or when he had his “ah-hah” moment, but it shouldn’t have taken almost 40 years or however long he’s been coaching to realize that. Is he so set in his ways that his unwillingness to change is the real problem?

You don't have control over the players anymore .My way or the highway just means ok they go the highway route and get on another team. Geno is the same dude that ranted that CC couldn't play. Lets see if this guy has changed his strips

Yes with a winning percentage of over 88% 11 NCAA Championships, 23 Final Fours, six perfect seasons and 59 conference championships, It’s obvious the guy has little idea about how to coach a basketball team!

What about narcissism? It’s all about him. It’s a part where he said you’re looking at a coach you admire after you’ve told your player they stink so they don’t fight back. Why would you treat your players like that? Sorry he just realized now that you don’t treat people like that unbelievable. 🩷🏀
