@@cooperl6489 Thank you guys ☺️ No, I live in Eastern Poland, an hour from Ukrainian border, I was helping a little with organising a place for refugees to stay for a few days before they found/are given a long-term place, we just had materesses for them to sleep and we had clothes and food, all donated by casual people from my town. We're not doing it anymore cause there is no need for that now. We also collected a lot of medical supplies, medication and had a bus transport it to soldiers in Ukraine. With refugees from Middle East it's a different story, I met a few activists in a city near me who were going to the border with Belarus because of the refugee crisis to help people who were freezing to death in the forests, I haven't personally been there (nor am I planning to cause it's too much for me mentally) but I've done a little work with these activists in a city, mostly getting winter clothes for refugees on the border. It's impossible to care about every topic all at once and still take care of yourself. But when you have the energy or time or money it's very helpful to other. There’s a very excellent speech by a gentleman named Elie Wiesel, author, professor, political activist and survivor of the Holocaust, called the Perils of Indifference that I think speaks to the heart of what Sneako(?) is struggling to conceptualize. Wiesel talks about how indifference towards the suffering around us in the world is both deadly and also necessary at times in order to maintain your sanity. Because clearly there is an abundance of heart wrenching going’s on that are happening every day, and it’s actually impossible to dedicate attention to all of them at once. But what you can do is maintain awareness and take a stand for actionable difference making and attitude towards the events taking place around you. I think it’s a more relevant topic now than ever, with our tendency to be desensitized to tragedy due to our near constant exposure to it. We need to be aware, maintain a sense of empathy amidst all this and speak up when action is being taken in order to influence the better outcome and minimize the suffering of others to the best of our abilities. In short it’s a very good speech and it’s not very long either, so I would highly recommend a listen if you have the time.

am i the only person who, whenever even a person who is considered almost objectively bad is harmed, i still feel bad for them? how are you gonna hear about innocent people being killed and not care? you don’t have to be doing everything possible to show that you care about them, and normal people don’t have the privilege to be able to always help or always be thinking about others and the atrocities happening to them. at the end of the day humans have inherent value regardless. even an asshole like sneako.
@Funeral_Mannequin Жыл бұрын
This really depends on what happens to the person. Like you know those shitty conservative “comedians” where all their jokes are “liberal bad, trans bad?” I still feel bad when they have no people at their comedy shows. Idk. They probably deserve it because they’re not nice people. But like, it gives me depressing birthday party vibes and I just can’t help but feel slightly sad. More so about the situation rather than for them? You know? Like if you take away the person and their morals, the situation by itself is objectively sympathetic for me.

it’s so weird how so many guys don’t want a woman that’s confident in her appearance, but they also don’t want to deal with the side effects of dating insecure women. as an insecure woman, dating can be brutal because your insecurities can heavily impact the relationship and lead to a lot of unwarranted mistrust and even some shady behavior. that lack of trust and shady behavior is also usually something men like that rant about (much like they do about women who are confident in their appearance), but then they also intentionally seek out insecure women. make it make sense! it creates such a lose-lose situation for us women because, in the eyes of those men, if you’re confident, then you’re conceited, but if you’re insecure, then you’re crazy.

All of this really is so sucky, that Sneako guy seems like he would be so defensive about everything, and try to overpower any conversation that wasn't going the way he wanted it to by being loud. As a person who grew up with a parent in the military, it's really crummy seeing them wear those uniforms, for a number of reasons: A) ABUs were phased out in June of 2021, the Air Force doesn't use them at all anymore B) None of them are wearing them even remotely correct C) None of them are wearing the hats that *go with the uniform* D) Their postures and demeanors are a joke, having softly folded hands when saluting is just,,, bad. I'm definitely not one to be weepy about the US military and claim it's so fantastic, I know it isn't, but my dad takes a lot of pride in his appearance and tries to have his uniforms looks as neat and put together as he can, so seeing them wear it so sloppily is just irritating to me. Obviously there are far bigger issues than the uniforms, but that kinda got to me, idk
@miledith5552 жыл бұрын
One time I literally just put on my makeup and made myself all pretty just to sit at home and do nothing. Why? Because I wanted to do it for myself to feel good. Some men really think we'd spend extra time in the morning to look good for THEM. I do not care about some rando on the bus or in the street, in fact I'd rather not have strangers look at me. Also as someone who volunteered to help with aid for ukrainian refugees, seeing him clown on the situation like that is disgusting. I've had an older woman literally cry and thank me for minutes just because I helped her find a few items at an aid center. Can't imagine how much a person has to go through to have such a strong reaction to such a small gesture. These people lost everything they had and that guy is just like "I don't care, I don't know any ukrainians".
