Freebies are not given out. It’s QOL wishing rather than bonus wishes. 1) interesting point about not being able to "throw a few pulls" or "try a 50/50" on a character and not being able to do that here. I've never wished like that but I can see how that is a negative. If you wish like that and you're sad about this, I didn't consider you and you're right that's lame that you can't do that. 2) weapon pity is 90 with this system, which is worse than the 80 it used to be. however with the fate points 1 instead of 2 it's overall way better. 3) agreed 4 star selector should have been added. was a perfect opportunity to fix the 4 star problem. Would have really liked to talk about this, as you know, i have a huge problem with the 4 star situation

It’s really cool. Only negative I can think of: no rate-up 4 stars, which means you get a random 4* from the enormous pool, making it unlikely that you get someone you like/need. On the other hand, it’s better than getting sh*tty 4 stars if the banner isn’t good. Conflicted about this part.

Basically if you've not hoarded like 150 wishes You'll spent 60 wishes for your character →You didn't got your fav character → 1 fate point accumulated →you're not able to collect enough wishes for your character → banner changes →you were at 40 pity →you lost the fate point →you again lost 50/50 to other character at 70 pity →you get 1 fate point →u don't have enough wishes→banner resets→ and the cycle continues Basically collect 150 wishes just to be on the safe side and this is only for veterans who are looking for particular characters For newer players like me I'll wish on banners of Kazuha , Neuvilette, Furina , Raiden , Yelan etc

Yes this requires saving. But if you do save this can end up being a good deal. Nothing prevents the banner from having raiden kazuha and yelan on there at the same time, if you were looking for all 3 your 50/50 is now a 70/30. In fact if you hit the wrong one (that you do want) first and then the selected one its like winning the 50/50 twice in a row. So the trick is to just wait until this banner has a good mix of characters and you just get a better deal than regular event wishes given that you save 150.

To me it depends what these banners look like going forward. It sounds like it could involve any limited 5 star that has gotten 2 reruns or more. I doubt archons are ever gonna be on it. But I also don't think its just for low tier 5 star. This one happened to be that way but lets be real other than the archon himself in Venti what 5 star mondstadt character is an A tier or higher unit. I am curious when the go Liyua characters for example. Is there even a bad limited 5 star Liyua character? Hu Tao A/S tier, Ganyu still an A tier character especially with cons since that is a legit possibility, Shenhe S tier on cryo teams, Yelan S tier, Xiao solid character, I mean even if they do 3 standard and 3 limited and thats the formula it is a 70% chance essentially to get a limited assuming you picked a limited as your 50/50.

I know this banner is really just for people who **really** want a specific standard unit like me. I've been playing for 2 years wanting diluc and now I can finally guarantee him. I'm happy this exists since it also frees up limited banner slots from less popular units like early mondstadt/liyue limited characters

The point of this banner is: you can lose 50/50 to a limited 5*, so you are no longer locked to building a standard 5* constellations. you can actually get limited characters Cons or get a random new ones. You can build pity on it, but the fate points dont carry over if you lose and don't go all the way. IMO this is good, but im year 1 player so im avoiding this one with my C6 Jean... will try if there comes a banner with tighnari/dehya/mona as the only standard lose tho. so i can just build my constellations on characters i want.

And also, I think u r misunderstanding this banner, u dont chose which character u lose the 50/50 to. In the normal event banner, u either win the 50/50 and get the rate up char, or lose to randomly get a standard character. In this banner, there is a pool of character, u can pick the rate up character, if u win u get the rate up like normally, n if u lose u get a random char from said pool of characters in this banner. But if u meant that we can now target a standard banner char that u want to win the 50/50 w, then sure, u can do that, but that s what only a very small minority of players will do. And again, u missed the point the other guy was talking abt.

I was going to say "it's quite literally the same as the limited banner for one of these characters" but I suppose there's one key difference: On limited banners you can gamble and not lose anything if you don't have enough primogems saved for a guarantee - you just keep your pity for the next one. On this banner, you really shouldn't, since fate points don't carry over. So you should only ever pull if you have enough to go to pity twice. Other than that, this is just W's across the board though.

Its good for if you want multiple characters on that banner, including limited characters. Its not useful for if you always want the newest character since they dont apprear in the banner but if there are multiple older 5* characters you like, it can be a great deal. So the best use of it is to actually get better rates on older limited 5 stars given that there are multiple of them on one banner.

I don't pull only for new characters anymore, If there's a Nahida, or Raiden, or Tartaglia on the banner, I'd easily go for them. Not all new characters are must have characters, there are plenty of opportunities to go for this banner instead.

7:34 loosing your guaranteed every time the banner changes is actually pretty bad for free to play players. On regular banners at least you could still pump 20-30 wishes onto a banner after loosing a 50-50 in hopes of getting the 5* and if that didn’t happen you where still 20-30 wishes closer to whoever you wanted next guaranteed. On this banner if you loose the 50-50, unless you have 90 wishes you risk wasting wishes on just loosing another 50-50. The only real benefit for characters here is the chance that even if you loose the 50-50 it can be another limited 5* character, not Qiqi. I do agree that it is pretty good for weapons if you can get the 180 wishes saved up for it. Solves some problems, while introducing already familiar problems from the weapon banner into character wishing. Hope they have better 5* next time.

It's indeed a tool for newer players to get the older units. The problem is that, up until now, they could've just waited for a normal rerun. This banner's introduction pretty much guarantees that those unfortunate characters that get shafted on the new banner aren't getting any more reruns for good. People who want them will have to either fully commit with a 180 guarantee or forget about getting them.

This is not a upgrade.. people that need those old characters already don't have enough currency and with this system you need a lot to guarantee a character you want in just one rotation of the chronicle wish cuz if you fail the 50/50 the next one won't be a selected character. This system only really works if you have a ton of wishes or if you are okay with receiving the other characters, it's a downgrade from the limited banner.

Yes if you don't have the discipline to save up wishes, or the wallet to comfortably top up. If you can do or have one of those things, it is an upgrade over event character and weapon banners. I'm a guy that usually tries to test luck for earlies, get 4* constellations and build pity and even I can admit this is an upgrade. The only thing that sucks about the new banner is that it will be their excuse to never improve the standard banner.

Sounds like a nice setup for people to get those elusive characters/weapons they couldn't get yet, while MHY doesn't have to sacrifice an event banner to characters that won't be very profitable. Sooo candidates for Chronicled Wish banners are: Ayaka, Ayato, Cyno, Childe, Hu Tao, and Ganyu. With possibly Xiao and Yoimiya if enough time has passed once this Mondstadt Chronicled Wish is over.

This new banner is nice, only if you can accumulate 180 pity in this banner for the item that you want (assuming the worst scenario) within a single patch. If a player can't, its gonna be a huge loss because the fate point doesn't carry over the next banner. This is way different than your normal limited event wish, say you lost your 50/50 pulling for yae this patch, then your guarantee carries over to your next 5*, even if you get it in the next patches, you can 100% get whoever you want. Idc if people say this banner is a w or a step in the right direction etc, for me this is just mihoyo adding another trap so the players spend even more money. Even for a casual spender (welkin/bp) like me, accumulating 180 pity within a single patch is very hard, tbh i dont really mind if the fate point carries over, but unfortunately it doesnt. An actual limited event banners also exist, and generally speaking, those are the banner you wanna go for because its way better and easier to manage your pity there. You can also see what 4* items get their rate ups, so you can decide for yourself if you wanna pull on the banner. This is important if you are still missing some good 4* and their constellations. So yeah im not gonna touch this new banner

However unlike the normal limited character banner this end to the 50/50 resets when the banner ends. So you can essentially forever lose your 50/50 on this banner and never ONCE get what you wanted. It also uses all the four stars in the pool instead of allowing us to choose, so its useless for getting four stars. This banner is useless to anyone with less then 180 wishes, and useless to anyone who wants four stars.

In general I really like this, and I don’t think we have details yet on how often/how long, but my one wish is that I really hope this banner lasts multiple patches (at least 2). If not, it’ll be kinda tough to try and figure out when to spend wishes on a limited banner character you want vs. A character on this banner that you want.

I'm always facinated by Genshin's ability to give as little value as possible when giving something to the players... And yes, this type of banner would be good if they did it every patch, so that the rotation of the characters would be faster. But they said they'll do it from time to time. You know what that means right? Every few months they'll take the worst characters (meaning the ones they don't rerun cuz people don't want to roll for them) and put theh on this banner so people won't complain that they don't rerun them ever. This way they don't lose money by reruning them on regular banners and the few people that want them stop complaining... But this doesn't help the regular players, who just want reruns of good characters...

The characters on this fist banner and the comment about how they'll do this only from time to time is a prime indicator of their future plans. The only good thing on this banner is the weapon and even for that, as you mentioned in another comment, even tho you can only lose 50/50 1 time, the pity is higher... Don't get me wrong this banner is not an L but it sure as hell isn't a W. It's just a huge meh... Now, if they actually use good characters in the future ones, fair, I'll admit that I was wrong. But let's be honest, does ANYONE believe they'll start adding characters like Hu Tao, Yeilan, archons etc.?? When on this one they used Eula, Klee and Albedo?? I don't see it happening.

So there is a really good upside about wishing on this but also a downside besides the obvious upside that we now have significantly more options to pull for. The downside is the fate point mechanic, its basically 50/50 but worse as it will not carry over to the next rotation compared to regular event wishes where the guarantee does carry over. This creates the massive sunk cost problem that the weapon banner has and is quite "predatory" in that sense, so make sure you have enough wishes. The massive upside of this besides the availability is that you can now lose your 50/50 to non-standard characters that are on the banner. So while pulling for eula you could lose your 50/50 to klee or albedo. So if you dont care about standard characters much, dont care about the 4 stars and you save up enough wishes, this new wish system will give you limited 5 stars at a much higher rate. With the current banner it may not seem that great since klee and albedo arent very popular, but once it hits inazuma for example there could very well be a raiden, ayaka and kokomi on the banner. So if you are interested in 2 or 3 of the 5 star characters on the banner, its a massive W. You could set the fate points towards raiden, lose your 50/50 to ayaka and then still have the guarantee for raiden. If you were interested in both characters that is like winning 50/50 twice in a row.

If you wouldnt like to get half of the standard banner characters, the new banner is still better. You have to consider what you alternative is. You rather lose your 50/50 to keqing/mona/jean/diluc/tigh/dehya or do you rather lose it to whatever the new mix of characters is like raiden/ayaka/dehya/jean/mona.

I think something in this that's being overlooked is the *guaranteed* 4-star characters (if you pick a character). This combined with the lack of rate up is huge for new players as you can quickly stockpile a spread of 4-star supports you might otherwise have had to wait months for, unless you got very lucky.

Horrible value for F2P. Clearly intended to force limited 5-star cons when you lose 50/50 to desensitize C0-only players trying to push them to pull for cons in the future. Furthermore, disassociating guarantee between regular banners and Chronicle banner is intended to "trap" pity on the other type, thus making it harder to reach guarantee on either. Let's look at two scenarios: a) Character you want is lower priority. In regular banners, you have the possibility of "getting lucky" with early 50/50 win by building pity on lower priority banner. If you miss, no big deal, as both pity and guarantee transfer over to high priority banner. If you hit, that's still a win because you got the character early. Now consider Chronicle Banner. It is massively -EV to not full send all-in, because you risk trapping your guarantee (fate point). Not only does Fate point not transfer over as guarantee to regular banner, but Fate point does not even transfer over to the next Chronicle banner. Therefore the only viable play is to have 180 wishes banked and to pull all the way until you get the unit. This is of course completely antithetical to the concept of lower priority character. b) Character you want is high priority. Again, we revisit the concept of guarantee. Neither regular banner guarantee nor pity carries over to Chronicle banner. We also already covered how massively -EV it would be to leave pity/fate point trapped on previous Chronicle banner, making the nominal carryover of Chronicle pity worthless in actual practice. Therefore whenever Chronicle banner drops with your target, you need to have 180 wishes banked to start the count from scratch, no shortcut "I have my guarantee saved for x". One might argue "If you don't like the banner, just don't pull on it. You're not losing anything." But this is actually false. Chronicle's very existence makes it extremely unlikely that a character featured in it will also feature in a regular banner in any meaningful timeframe. Ask yourself when should you expect the next Eula, Klee, or Albedo regular banner. What would be the time between the previous rerun and that hypothetical rerun? See the problem?

The pity/5050 system is worse than limited banners. Say you lose 50/50 in a limited banner and you run out of primos, the guarantee can be saved for the next limited banner. But for this one, if you lose 50/50 for the current banner, and you can't manage to hit pity again, you lose your guarantee. Same rate + uses intertwined, it's technically more costly than limited banners.

Everyone so focused on the Chronicled Wish. after watching the 4.5 live program, i learned that we can get a Fateometer. It’s a gadget that helps players generate random numbers. yeah, because people really desperately need to generate random numbers more than having, say, - a portable crafting table, or - more design pin icon options, or - artifact preset loadouts, or - “craft again” button for blacksmith group orders - or on/off buttons for constellations - or access to past 4* event weapons - or scene skip buttons - or inter-boss drops dream solvent transmutations (not just intra-boss transmutations) how does generating random numbers be more crucial than any of the points i mentioned above? 🤯 the things they focus on and devote their time to develop… so questionable. like, i just can’t. i don’t know if they’re just stupid or just stupid. 🤨

It's a win if you are willing to full send for the desired character and there just so happens to be characters you don't mind losing 50-50. Losing to Albedo is still better than losing to Qiqi, especially if you would never have wished on Albedo otherwise.

With this explanation I don't really like this banner that much anymore, I was hopping it would become a remplacement for the standar banner but that was not the case as we use interwined fates. It is really good if you want hunter's path and deyha's weapon but for characters it kinda is worse than the event banner. Maybe as we change to new regions we can see better lineups of 5 stars and then it could be worth it idk
