You now see why Zhongli chose the Wangsheng Funeral Parlor to work for. It's an organization with a very long history, spanning in the middle of the Archon War (which just ended 2000 years ago, it started even before that) or just right after it, to the present day. Along with the usual funeral parlor stuff, they also conduct funeral rites for the Adepti. Hu(lastname) Tao(firstname) serves as its 77th generation Director. As the director of one of the oldest business in Liyue, she privy to a lot of stuff like knowledge of the details of events in the Archon War. Only the Liyue Qixing itself would know more than them among the mortals. Also due to being the director of the funeral parlor, she knows a technique passed down between each director that allows them to "traverse between life and death." As Dainsleif said in her collected miscellany "Unafraid in the face of death, they instead unleash yet greater power." It's perfectly reflected in her gameplay where the lower her HP is, the greater her damage. Trying to kill her or any of the directors of the funeral parlor will literally just empower them more. Being in the verge of death is ironically their strongest state.

HuTao tried to put zombie Qiqi “to rest” on several occasions. HuTao felt it was in Qiqi’s best interest, but eventually HuTao decided Qiqi’s extreme desire to survive was worth respecting. However forgetful Qiqi has a dislike for HuTao ingrained in her now.

I think it is Baizhu story quest when you will get to know little bit more about Hu Tao's feelings. And Baizhu quest is one of good ones. It comes little late though.

Hu Tao is a trip. She was the first character that really got me into the game, and upto speed on progressing my account. She's still one of the most loved characters in the game for characterization. Though her attacks and kit are hit and miss for whether you actually like the playstyle.

As demented as Hutao seems she grew up around this her entire life and has seen the suffering death has caused others. Her upbeat attitude is such a stark contract but its to try to add joy and happiness to the lives of those she has to interact with. Also she's technically Zhongli's boss so take that insane interaction as you will.

About the "Wet" status -- Genshin's damage system is based on elemental reactions, applying one elemental status on an opponent and following up with another one to wreak havoc; as Max0r (probably) noted in his first review, "you're in a bathtub full of water, and your enemies are throwing in toasters for MASSIVE damage!"

@@DefinitelyNotDefinitiveGames The wet status means the target is currently affected by Hydro and so if someone(even the environment) applies another element that can react with Hydro, they would take the reaction and then the Wet status will go away until it gets applied again. So there's funny things that happens when it's raining and there's also lighting. You're characters and enemies are already wet(Hydro) so the moment you get hit with lightning(Electro), the "Electrocharge" reaction gets applied on you. You take damage and the damage also travels to anybody near you since that's what "Electrocharge" does. Same thing, if you want to freeze an enemy, you need to apply Hydro on them(aka get them Wet) and then apply Cryo on them which results on the "Frozen" reaction. It's why players have 4 characters to play around. Its to swap and apply their elements and the subsequent effects of those. It's why in Maxor's first video, he says that you will feel like a scientists gone rogue as you go crafting a ball of death with the combos of the elemental reactions and the abilities of your characters.

I can’t remember if the order matters but I’m pretty sure at some point when you interact with Hu Tao before the Dain quest, she’ll mention it’s good news she found nothing because it means our sibling isn’t dead.

I'm a long time Genshin player and its been a long time since I played Hu Tao's story quest. It was nice experiencing it again with you two. I really like Hu Tao. She was the first Genshin figurine I acquired. I love her quirky cuteness.

HuTao definitely rubs some people the wrong way, but I think even though she comes off as bizarre and a troll, she usually has ulterior motives and a reason for doing things. If nothing else but to see what people's reactions will be to get a feel for their character.

It's not really important, or maybe it is, but the slight pause in movement at 1:01:40 was because of the lack of Stamina before jumping into water. If the player didn't watch it, there would be a case of drowning, which at most only hinders the progress (going back to the Door of Resurrection at 59:45 and having to go through the right actions/steps again).

If i remember correctly, Hu Tao's initial release was a bit of a controversy. She was to be released during Lantern Rite, which is like Chinese New Year, and bringing up the dead during that time is big taboo. I think thats showed pretty well in her story quest

Fun fact about the mythology aspect, this game is very Christian based since most of the characters names are actually derived from demon names including Paimon’s.

Yeah it has sort of a Neo Platonist framework with a gnostic spin, with various other abrahamic apocryphal mystic traditions mixed in. So inspirations from Solomon and demon stories, concepts like imaginary/immaterial is reality, a primordial creator god who might actually be a false god. Plus Aeons and Archons and even the idea of gnosis and hypostasis, very platonic/gnostic

One of the more interesting aspects of why Platonist philosophy became so popular is its framework meshes very well with other religions, so it can work well with both Christianity or Chinese mythology, and that fits genshin well.

I feel like the people who only play the main story are the ones who end up having the most complaints about Genshin. Genshin's side-quests and events deepen the story of the world. I certainly wouldn't have nearly the appreciation for Genshin I do if I hadn't gone out of my way to watch all of the events I'd missed.

@@bookswithike3256 im a day one player and have never ever complained about the game from story or rewards or anniversary never complained about cultural appropriation or npc/char skincolors I just play the game like i would watch an anime but with the plus side of the exploration Lets be honest the character side quests are boring It would far more be logical that they would do main story first then char quests then event lore/quests

@@teateachimchim733 About the character quests not being important. I disagree on some of them since some are required before the actual main story stuff. Like how Ayaka’s immediately goes off once you do part 1 of Inazuma. And besides. Once they found out they were gonna miss Klee, they knew they had to do the other characters too. So they’re currently following a playlist that’s catching them up with what they missed and what is in a good enough order.
