When I first see Punishing Gray Raven, I thought it was a PC game, and then I'm confused. comparing to Honkai, the combats and particles look more clean and faster pace, graphics look a bit less chibi style and I like it. the gameplay seem to go around with, pressing attack button until skill icons appear on screen for you to tap I think?, along with evasion button like in Honkai. overall it look like a great game to fill Honkai's gap. good to see Honkai Impact 3rd finally get a competitor in global, having market competition is a good thing if both decided to stay clean.

One of my favourite parts of this game is most the abilities except for the ultimates, are chained together with the normal attack of the characters, so instead of something like ganyu's e where she just moves back placing a flower, the abilities in this game (the 3 colored orbs on the right) are chained into the normal attack incredibly smoothly and it feels so damn good

So the way the skills work is that when you do a combo a orb or skill appears you can chain 3 of the same to do qte of that color and when in bullet time just one and every char has a core passive for alpha its the long range slash

This game is great for so many reasons, the story is fascinating, character combat design is damn near PC worthy, the gacha is considerably more lenient and cheap than other games, and the Voice actors and actresses in this game are all famous people, the singer in the PV is the voice actor for Violet Evergarden 石川由依, another character's voice actress is Asuna from SAO. Unfortunately the animation in the PV is not used in the game itself. One BIG plus of this game to genshin imo is the combat feels quick and smooth and most importantly SATISFYING AF, you are gonna love the gunslingers.

@@UnrealDreamer Just to prep myself for the Global Release, I checked out the gatcha system of the game. VERY similar to Mihoyo's gatcha system with their games with the gacha rates of 0.5%. They basically have a pity system and each number of pity is different depending on the banners, most of them are up to 60 and I saw one that is up to 80 - 100, and here's the kicker, you can select which character or weapon, depending on what kind of banner your pulling from, to RATE UP on that banner. Upon hitting pity, the probability will raise it up to 70% but if it's not the one you choose to rate up then of course the next pity will be 100% guaranteed the one you chose. But if it's a banner with one character or weapon then you'll inevitably get it 100% of the time.

As a person play the Chinese version of PGR since it landed here my thoughts the UI is ready similar too honkai so it ez too understand for me as a honkai, the combat beat is really fast there also a QTE mechanic that works like SP bronya and teri so it different from honkai normal QTE the skills is like a mini puzzle game whit each different set of 1-3 skills symbol above the attack button (depending on set of skill you get different buff and attack) I drop it for 6 months now because I want to understand the story so really happy it have a global version soon

Here's how the combat works (speaking from experience that I don't exactly have much as I played for a week or two myself and I'll be continuously referencing HI3 to give an idea of what to expect): -First there is the basic attack button, there's dash/dodge, then there are *special attacks* (this is where it's REALLY different from Honkai) and finally the ultimate. -The attack button is simple and easy to understand, the dodge however is a little different than HI3, it has a stamina of its own unlike Honkai where you can dash twice at once and dash again after a second or so but here you can dash until the bar is depleted and then it'll replenish over time, the time fracture is very similar to Honkai, you perform a perfect evasion and the time slows down (for most chars) and this game also has similar mechanics like you can't time fracture limitlessly and that is shown by the inner small bars on the dash button. -Your normal attacks will randomly (afaik) generate symbols of three different colors, (namely red, blue and yellow) you can perform different attacks based on which combination and no. of signs you choose, it's a bit deeper but this is basically the thing, like 2 blue side by side will be stronger than a single blue attack and 3 blues together will be the strongest, you can see that in the video the player waits until a specific color stacks up and then use it altogether, similar colors side by side will be attached to each other with a dot in the middle; sometimes following proper attack patterns will give you special powers on the battlefield. -The ultimate is also triggered in a similar manner as getting the special powers but not that complicated, and it's the bluish button beside the dash button. -I'm not really sure if there are any weapon actives or not as I didn't exactly reach too far in the game, main reason was that it was in Chinese and I didn't understand 60% of what's up, so had to quit and wait for the global release, also since I played in Chinese lang. it was a lot harder to understand than it should be so global version should clear up all the doubts. -From how much I saw there were a ton of weapons and characters, and similar to Honkai instead of having a shit load of characters there are a bunch of them with different battlesuits and yes there are male characters too, the weapons are- sword, dual laser canons (?), chainsword (?), greatsword, dual handguns, scythe, dual daggers/blades, bow and melee rocket launcher (?). Again, this is just from what I experienced, there's definitely a lot more to it than just this SERIOUSLY looking forward to the global release and hopefully the release it ACTUALLY worldwide instead of leaving a few countries out.

As you can see there are 3 "Orb" type Blue, Red and Yellow (i always call them like that dont judge me), These "orb" will generate when your char attack, dodge...Each of these orb will perfome a different type of action like atk, dash or heal. And you can use a combo of the same type of orb like 2/3 or more, or just spam every single one. It comsumes Stamina when you dodge as well not like HI3 so......( Ah my Darksoul ptsd)

Dude, I tried to play this game some months ago and it got me really confused. It's like Nier with more ACT element but on top of that, there is a Tetris like combat mechanic design that prevented me from attacking enemies in the ways I wanted because I had to wait for the same colour bubbles to show up and reorganize their order. It's a complicated system. U will understand what I am talking about once you start to play. It's like I didn't know which part of the screen was I supposed to look at. If I want to focus on combat, I need to look at the centre of the screen and pay attention to enemies. But if I want to deal damage or stun enemies with certain combos or attack I must keep reading the bottom of the screen where the bubbles of 3 colours show up. It really confused me.

@@samuel30853s Not necessarily speaking a bad game, it just makes me feel confused, It feels like playing dmc on NDS with two screens. I know what shows up on each screen. But when I am supposed to be focused on the combat and read the enemy moves by looking at one of the screens, I had to simultaneously pay attention to the combo bubbles on the other screen. It´s like, why? Why can´t I use light attack, heavy attack, and hold attack to do the combos as I wish instead of fighting and solving puzzles at the same time? I think this attack mechanism is new and creative. I don´t think this system helped improve the experience of an action game. New and creative don´t always mean good, that I do agree tho.

Punishing: Gray Raven is for me like Honkai Impact, I would probably be very interested in the lore and watch the story scenes on youtube but I would never start playing it because I simply don't have enough time.

so it had some nice visuals, but referring to the cinematography, it made heavy use of rapid cutting and shaky cam to imply conflict magnitude which really just sacrificed a lot of it's readability, this isn't helped by the fact that the longest cut was less than 2 seconds long in the entire video. the song was nice, but the lack of coherency on the visuals made it feel like one of those old naruto AMVs you'd expect to see on youtube in 2012, as an advertisement i'd say it deserves a 6/10, but had this been marketed as a story based PV then it gets a solid 2.5/10, as no information was really conveyed outside of "in a futuristic world some augmented people fight some other people and maybe each other."
