Agreed. I was one of the players who not only pulled for her, but even got her to C1. She's grossly underestimated ans way too many people were too caught up in her design. This usually happens with units who release close to a new region. So I'm not surprised but I figured Genshin fans would learn *something* after Kuki and Baizhu.

There’s something special about investing into a character before the crowd. It’s like finding an amazing band before they hit it big. AIecchino is an amazing unit with near perfect design, but everyone pullled for her. I invested into Emilie because I loved her design, and I like leaning into “unconventional” reactions. You’re correct Chev created the blueprint, and I love that I was running a Dehya/Chev overload team almost day 1.

I love that people are saying "Chaska will be trash, her scaling is terrible" because Mihoyo isn't stupid enough to bring out a terrible DPS anymore, all new characters are designed with the others to come in mind. Burning isn't interesting so Émilie sucks ? No worries, Natlan is coming and suddenly burning is sexy. Kinich has issues with getting consistent and comfortable pyro application because Bennett and Xiangling can be clunky (Bennett because of the circle impact, Xiangling because it forces you to rotate counter clockwise and ER), no worries, Mavuika and pyro traveler are coming. I'll make the bet that Citlali will either be a perfect melt support for Wrio or a nice complement to Mavuika for a melt core in Chaska teams all while giving all the interruption resistance and shield support that Chaska will ever want.

@insomniawitch not really, Dehya doesn't bring much damages and you need her C2 to get the full uptime. Without it you lose the pyro application during Mualani/Kinich's damage timeframe which sucks big time. Especially with Mualani.

Dont overestimate burning, its still a very bad reaction. People were somewhat right about Emilie, since even though her own damage is great, its not that good if there are no teams she can fit in. She doesn't have that many teams even as of now. Also, Kinich and Emilie both use their own numbers and multipliers to deal great damage, they are just tied to burning, but thats all really :D The source of the problem people had with Navia too was that they focused too much on reactions, they didn't think about what if her personal numbers will be amazing. We see this with Neuvilette or Kinich too, they don't rely at all on reactions for their damage, as it comes from their multipliers. This way Hoyo can make any character work regardless of what reactions are they tied to

Navia: I wasn’t even aware people didn’t like her at first only that some were worried she’s also mono geo DPS but after her kit was revealed she officially became my second geo pull and even got her weapon for her and Eula. Xianyun: healer/buffer Sucrose i mained her after getting C6 Faruzan and even C4 Jean before the new selector and was happy she’s more fun and diverse than wonderer Emilie: my new favorite Dendro and overall second favorite character after Sucrose, i loved her design and lore and was only worried she would be burning Nilou but thankfully she was as similar to Navia and even being off fielder which made her much more valuable for many pyro teams.

To this day, I'm still unbelievably proud of c6 kokomi and r5 her signature on day one of her first banner. Watching the community crap on her for having negative crit rate, the entire duration of her banner while knowing that she was unbelievably good. Then watching the community panic after her banner went away as they realised she was the best healer the game had ever seen and could even put up high dmg numbers if you built her right. So worth it.

Navia was a char I WANTED after doing her trial, BUT I didn't since I was in save mode at the time having spent plenty of primos getting Neuvillette and Furina (I am a F2P gamer, I have to be picky). Chevreuse is another char I wanted because of her kit. I did manage to get her recently since I want her for my Snezhnaya team (I already have Xilonen for that team too). Love Xianyun! I saw her potential from the get-go, so I did pull for her and get her. She's great for traversal too. No desire to get Chlorinde though. I do need more Electro chars, but no desire for an Electro dps unit.

As someone who mains Navia and Emilie, I love both of them. I started playing in I think 4.2 (whatever July eighth was) so I started very late, and she was my first five-star who I got pretty early, so she’ll always have a special place in my heart. I pulled for Emilie for no reason, and got her very early. I couldn’t level her up for a while since I couldn’t find the bossfight for the life of me (I did the ENTIRE quest, thinking you’d unlock it at the end) but now that I have, since s perfect for me team, being off-field while Navia is my off-field. I hope to get Arlecchino and Clorinde at some point!

i pulled emilie with higher expectations due to tgs’ analysis of her and she still surpassed them. my melt ganyu team with xiangling and bennett went from an energy/rotation hell to a freestyle comfort team. many people underestimate her in that slot under the the assumption that “it could have been used for a ganyu buffer since she can proc melt already” while not realizing emilie’s nuances as a competent aoe sub dps and secondary pyro applier. she distributes the team’s damage which makes missing any of ganyu’s ca’s a lot less punishing, makes it more suitable for aoe scenarios where you can afford to release ganyu’s burst (from personal experience) in combination with emilie’s off field dps, and you dont even need to use xiangling’s burst every rotation to proc multiwave melt. she’s a such a comfort unit but thats also her biggest downside because genshin tc’s have a history of prioritising unreliable dps increase in teams over making them more convenient to play. emilie, furina and fischl are my most used units for that matter.

Yet people look at her stupid high crit shark bite and think she's the best thing ever when even my quickbloom clorinde hits those types of numbers more comfortably in smaller but rapid fire pace. Yet those same TCG's act like consistent damage dealers like clorinde are terrible because "small numbers" despite how fast they shoot UP and keep going

Funnily enough, Navia was the reason that I returned to Genshin after I saw her leaked animations. I left the game around 2.2. I didn't care whatever she was good or not, her being Geo didn't matter. I started again in the middle of 4.2 and started farming primos and materials, I had the guaranteed from back then, so I get her easily from her banner, but I still keep going and got her C1 30 wishes later winning the 50/50. Her being so good was a really nice surprise, she has been carring me ever since while I slowly build other characters lol

@@tartagliasjigglydworshipper the mechanics around Fontaine, revolved around loosing and gaining HP, something everyone can do, but in Natlan, the full potential of the characters revolves around the Nightsoul thing... so they work better between themselves, look no further than the artifacts... for example you can equip Marechaussee hunter on Noelle and go down to business with Furina! but the new artifacts of Natlan are mediocre in any team without nightsoul, maybe the piro archon can help, but nightsoul still is a thing only for natlan, instead of fontaine's gimmick of loose and gain HP that anyone can do... time will tell but I'll not hold my breath.

People talk about Clorindes strong and much more diverse team variety, but the other thing she has is Artifact selection. Shes the only high tier DPS i can think of where not just her signature but also stuff like Echoes and Thundering Fury, all which play different, are super strong options. Echoes in particular with her, seen it held some very very good speedrun results with her (usually in Aggravate, surprisingly!, one im thinking of only a few singular seconds away from the best dolphin Arlechinno results, and ahead of many other Arls)

This imaginarium theater made me realize the new burning mechanic is going to be something needed I can't complete this one really thought the geo one was gonna get me lol. Cloud Retainer is my skip that haunts me I've always loved Diluc but he was obviously unable to carry me anymore I really want his plunge team. Who'd of thought overload was gonna be good it's now one of my top teams. I also thought Navia would be awesome really thinking of getting my first geo team especially with Xilonen. Sad part going to have to abandon old characters and builds to have these but they weren't keeping up either with damage so old teams gotta go

I get why the doom posting for Navia was a thing, but as soon as Navia and Chevreuse came out, it was clear that whoever was in charge of character design in Fontaine knew what they were doing. Not only was most of it hits, even flop characters like Freminet were at least mechanically interesting (and I still have fun playing him) It was the Xianyun doom posting that really got to me, tho. Like personally I think she's nearly as valuable as Furina to an account. She's just so good

All the characters that came out before the next patch were questioned: Kazuha, Kuki, Dehya, and Emilie. The other group of characters that the community questioned was the reaction modifiers. Nilou and Chevruse. Ironically I didn't have any of the repulsion to these characters that others did. To the contrary, I was drawn to them because unlike a lot of people, I actually do enjoy playing future impact. Nilou was the first character in the game I got the signature weapon for, even before my hutao who carried me from AR -30 to -50.

Emilie is amazing. C1Emilie+C3Deyha+C6Furina core is so strong that no Natland characters are needed. I think I'll get Emilie's weapon next re-run because I don't see myself dropping her from that team ever. I got Chevreuse C3 but Xilonen C0R1 is flat out better. I also find Chevreuse a lot more clunky to play because of the aimed shot to get the buff.And you have to remember doing the burst first to trigger overload to get a bullet. Xianyun plunge playstyle doesn't appeal to me at all.

@@nobody-xh6ii C6 Furina needs no healer, as doing a few normal attacks in Ousia mode after her skill will heal the entire party for 18 seconds . Pretty much anyone works in 4th slot (including Amber), give or take a few seconds in clear times. Furina C6 in Pneuma mode is very clunky and I don't recommended it. I have the Deepwood set +R5Deathmatch on Emilie because better substats,2467atk, 88/184crit,148ER.

Juice is the only youtuber (as far as I know) who claims that Clorinde is the best electro dps. Everyone else claims that she needs dendro at c0 to shine. I can't agree or disagree since i pulled her c2 before even playing her. 😅 Navia is a broken dps. She really hits like a truck. There's nothing more to say. Chevreuse helps Raiden and Arlecchino to do so much damage it's almost a crime. Emilie is excellent 👌 Kinich and Arlecchino love her. 😊

Let's talk geo for a second when navia was released everyone was well aware of the power of noelle furina team and it looked like geo finally got a meta team so when navia looked like she isn't gonna be a battery or mainly an off field DPS people and not gonna want to be in mono geo people were understandingly concerned about her place in the meta but when we got our hands on her she worked fine with noelle furina team and even managed to be the center of own team which mainly has to do with her skill having two charges which is a C2 quality without it the extra shot on her skill she will be bad at dealing with tanky enemies or multi wave i believe a this was a last minute change that saved her as a character

I kind of wanted Emile but Xiangling/Razor/Yanfei were 4-stars I did not need whatsoever, and my Arlecchino is still struggling to be built so as a F2P player it was easy to pass on Emilie and hopefully get her next time when I'll be a in a better state to use her. I ended up pulling for Kinich later, and while he would also benefit greatly from Emilie my C0 Chevreuse catapulted to C6 so it was also a boon for my Clorinde.

My fav underrated units remains Kuki, when Dendro was yet to come. Even lazy ones like Albedo, Emilie, Dehya perform well when packed. Dehya being the one I have the most expectations in, and already standing pretty well on 12th floor.

I genuinely love when my expectations are superceded and prove my assumptions wrong...unfortunately that's not common ;) Really though I wish I were more pleasantly surprised than underwhelmed and I try to not be as critique-minded as often as I am tempted, I get disappointed when opportunities and potential isn't reached and that's often to the detriment of my lofty expectations I suppose In terms of Genshin it certainly is surprising to see some units deliver - Navia and Gaming are huge ones for me that I've only come to adore and enjoy far more than I even initially did (I never underestimated Clorinde, my Napoleonic Queen delivered to expectations~) - great point that timing of release can truly make or break it for some characters, fairly or not Xianyun's design floored me and her capabilities only make her such a pleasant benefit - I was against her due to how annoying I found Cloud Retainer as a bird xD I've overcome my bias against her personality ahah. I personally wish I felt the same regarding Emilie, I think her potential and usefulness is far more surprising given her community reception...mechanics aside, her design still leaves me wanting and disappointed (I actually adore her pose, gorgeous legs/heels, dance steps/animations, and gracefulness, I think at this point its more about her eyes, glasses, and hair choices, shallow as it sounds, to me that and some of her dress elements are not cohesive or as beautiful in my eyes as I had hoped) so its such a shame but glad that a video like this can show how she and others shine!

For emilie's case, it wasn't that people underestimated her damage dealing capabilities, but the negative reception was more caused around her gameplay/characterization/character design controversy. - People weren't happy that throughout fontaine, mention of emilie was basically non-existent e.g. she did not play a part in any significant story beat in genshin and she kinda just pop up out of nowhere. - And a lot of people commented how her official/final design looks "worse" than her 'beta'/'WIP' designs. That she looked like a relatively generic looking character whereas the beta looked really unique. - A lot of people also commented that her gameplay is really "boring" where you literally just press E and/or Q, that it has very little skill expression, and it's not unique and a bit underwhelming. These negative perceptions might've caused people to think that she's a "bad character" which was then associated to her character as a whole which include her damage dealing capabilities.

emilie was never expected to be bad, tcs said she was a good character since the very beginning and even more after she received massive buffs on beta, they just thought she was boring (xiangling 2.0) and the general audience thought she was ugly this goes for navia as well, tcs were very quick to say she was good (because she is) even tho her v1 had a few qol problems

I got c1 emilie by mistake and ever since i swapped out xiangling for emilie in my arlechinno team, i have never regretted it, to where i cant play without her in arlechinno teams, cus without her it feels like the team doesnt do that much damage, like with her on the team i have faster clear times than my vape arlechinno and it was really disappointing that content creators didnt promote her crazy constellations, like at c1, her a4 passive procs up to 7 times per skill, and at this point i think its safe to say that emilie is the strongest sub dps in terms of just raw damage

The first time to 36 star the abyss yesterday. C1r1 arle, c0r1 emilie, c0r0 dehya, c2r1 baizhu. C2r1 clorinde, c3r1 nahida [deepwoods a b*tch so i cant get past 680 EM], c1r1 furina [half built], c0r1 xilonen. 1st tea. Did amazing for mobs. 2nd team fantastic against the bosses. If it wasnt for emilie being a powerhouse dendro sub dps my arle team couldnt clear fast enough. I've never beenable to clear the abyss due to artifact issues mainly. If emilie gets a rerun i may try to snag a con if shes not with someone else in the lineup i'm aiming for

i barely use xianyun for her plunge enabling mechanic. in the abyss, i just use her as furina's partner. and in the openworld, i dont think i can play genshin without her. i'd say c1 xianyun is required for every account. i was gonna get scarmuch since he has flight mechanics, good thing i hold off.

For me it's Miko and Shinobu since on release they had no dendro. Miko's passive on EM was strange to everyone and Shinobu being compared to Fischl. Now look at where we are now! (Yet they both cursed to be called by their second name,but Shinobu takes it much worse..)

Speaking from someone who follows character kits, i gotta dissagree with clorinde, her healing in the beta seemed way higher, and up untill the last week of it, the skill had much higher uptime, with what it looked to be really good numbers. generally she looked like an insane unit, I pulled for her in a heartbeat and now i regret. She isnt bad, by any means she isnt that special, and definitely less fun that she looked to be

Im gonna say Wriothesley. I feel like it was a bit of Cryo syndrome and a bit of "Oh no I'm about to be released after arguably the strongest character in the game!" While he isn't Nuevi tier he's atleas A tier. He's able to utilize melt and burnmelt really well, the first Cryo character to consistently and effectively do so. Not to mention he's not too terrible in shatter.

Emilie was never bad just poorly timed. She was more of a Kazuha situation in the sense players didnt realiz her value. Hoyo probably wont rerun her anytime soon as well, she was fesigned for Natlan, with her awful timing and burning focused kit she seemed lackluster. her dmg is still amazing

Geo wasnt bad. It just took a lot of love to make it work. Bcause my team of C6 Solar pearl Ninnguang, C6 Stonthresher Noel, cinibar spindle Albedo and Zhong Li can still 36 star the abyss.

@magiclover9346 riiight!!! Mine defense is pretty high, so his skill is averaging 29K per hit, 30K on crit. Sometimes I swap him out for Gorou. People just aren't satisfied unless they're getting big reaction numbers. And I get it, because the game is all about reactions. But that's just not what geo does. You don't need reactions when you can punch holes in stuff. And now that I have Navia and Xilonen. The punching isn't going to stop any time soon. What I really want is my Gorou to get up to C4 so he can heal. But he's always paired with Itto. Who I don't want. So unless I get lucky on the standard banner. I don't see that happening anytime soon.😅

@@sigma20xx yup there's a difference between a speed run and a clearance. Many forget this. Once you get to how fast can my clear get. The answer normally is how deep are your pockets. I love Itto play him whenever I can. Also like to point out 4 star options are garbage if you're willing to put the work in.
