The test here reminded me a lot of Whiplash; someone pushes themselves past their limit only to fail at eleventh hour, on account of circumstances outside of their control. There's no second chance or happy ending for Lenny though. As much of a proponent of having the latest and greatest as I am (occupational hazard of being an engineer - not as in train driver, as in designer), stories like this are a reminder of what is left behind in the name of technological progress and evolution. Great video! TRS2004 was so much simpler. Although I mainly use Trainz 12, I still love to use TRS2004 every now and then. The only that sucks is they're updating EVERYTHING on the DLS so you need to manually type in the kuids to find older versions of assets.

Pretty good job making this! Glad some one could make a Trainz video showing the service life of an SD90MAC-H. At least you got the facts correct, UP and CP hated the SD90s because despite the pulling power, they can easily break down. Now UP has many of the normal SD9043MACs in storage due to cracked frames, but NS bought 100 of those 2 months ago. Now about the story, I do agree with Eric. Those EMD SD60s are jerks who cheated on the trial inspection by adding more cars to Lenny's train. And if the project from Master of Train didn't get destroyed in the oil train explosion, it should smash into them. Also, how did you do that smoke effect at 29:23? It looks pretty cool.

In order to get Lenny to smoke like that, I used PEVSoft's attachment maker to add an attachment point inside of the locomotive mesh, then added the thick white smoke from the NYC Mohawks to the attachment. That caused him to smoke from the inside. The smoke coming from the exhaust is the smoke from the UP 9000s, which I simply added to the existing exhaust attachment points. Glad you liked the video!

CottonBeltSD40T the 8926 hasn't been fully scrapped the loco's moter is gone still the frame and cab are in tact that and a funny story about a sd60 and a sd90mac-h the Maine Montreal and at Atlantic was short on power so they got a ex soo line sd60 and a up sd90 and the first day the sd60's turbo charger blew up and the sd90 had to come and pull it. the next day the sd60's engine block blew up and than they scrapped it the sd90 was so reliable they ran 190 ca oil trains with just that I loco they ended up buying 3 more but when a oil train blew up in Quebec railworld pawned off the mma and they sold them off to jlcx.

Hey, about that UP triclops SD60M at the beginning of the intro and on the scene where Eric and Andy were towing Lenny to the shed, I know you got it from the DLS, but have you ever thought about getting the UP triclops SD60M from SRS Trainz? That site is down at the moment, but their stuff is neat! The UP triclops SD60M has ARN and some good detail! They also have a BN triclops SD60M as well, also a UP SD70M (I'm sure you don't need it since you use Sporbust's model), also an ATSF SD75M too.

I've seen them, and they look great, but I tried getting the BN SD60M to work way back when it was in beta release some 3 years ago and found that TRS2004 has its limits with certain locomotives. It isn't a fan of The SRS engines, the new JR engines, or some of trainboi1's engines. The latter makes me the saddest because trainboi1 has a really nice Climax locomotive but TRS2004 has trouble with its mesh.

The name Eddy kinda reminds me of a Chuggington human character with the same name, but Ron reminds me of ronthecyborg (creator of The Mohawk That Wouldn't Quit). As for Master Of Train, Victor is actually my dad's middle name, but he also reminds me of one of my old friends from middle school. The name Jimmy reminds me of several minor characters from Regular Show. And Ernest, hard to say. For Gentle Giant, Eric reminds me of some railfan I met a couple times in 2015, but also an Amtrak engineer I talked to in 2013. Andy reminds me of that Toy Story character with the same name, and Lenny is actually one of my neighbor's names.

By the way, I am sorry to hear that some people are still begging you to switch your simulator to something newer. They need to realize that when they tell you why you should get a new Trainz, they're just wasting their time. I may use Trainz 2010, but that wasn't my first Trainz! I personally think that old Trainz sims such as TRS2004 still deserve a fan base. It's your choice really as to which Trainz you want to use, and you know what they say, sometimes sticking to your original is your best bet.

Dajara, did you know that in real life, the UP SD90MAC-Hs were once in the 8500 number series, but sometime later, they renumbered them to the 8900s because of some new SD70ACes using those numbers. Y'know, one of the routes in Trainz: A New Era is an updated version of a route used in Master of Train and Mythos, as well as this one: Good ole Highland Valley. It was renamed "Kickstarter Country" in honor of the Kickstarter project's backers (which I was proud to be part of.) However, that's not the only change. All industries (and fueling depots for coal, wood, oil, diesel fuel, all consumers and producers) are now fully interactive, so you no longer have to pretend your engine is refueling, and you can actually load and unload freight and passengers at their respective industries. In addition, the graphics engine has been updated, and it got all-around updates to bring the old classic Highland Valley up to T:ANE standards. Plus, if you look closely at the streetsigns, there's an easter egg: The names on the streets are names of Kickstarter backers that got in at the pledge levels required. (And those would be pledges at the Pre-Alpha, Alpha, and Pre-Beta levels. Unfortunately, I' got in at Beta-tester, so I didn't quite qualify.) On a different note, albeit one that's semi-related to this video, I spotted #836's bridge and Victor's Junction during the chase scene with the EMD Inspector Units while they were towing Lenny to be scrapped. (Also, the naming convention is due significant events that happen in other videos. For example, Victor's derailment at a junction in Master of Train [Victor's Junction], and the bridge where #836 wrecked, and where he comes back to the land of the living [#836's bridge.])

+Jude Pelaez Um, T:ANE does have a highly-updated version of Highland Valley called Kickstarter Country, Highly updated, as in brought from TRS2004 standards all the way up to T:ANE's standards. That's a huge jump for such an archaic route (when you compare it to routes from Trainz 12, for instance.) So don't count T:ANE out just yet. It's got some serious throwback potential, yet it does have a distinctly modernized touch. In other words, it's the same Highland Valley you know and love, but every industry can now load and unload cargo, every station can load and unload passengers, and the graphics quality, PFX, SFX, and EFX are much improved. You'll see Highland Valley in a whole new light, 'cause the old girl just had a full (and much needed!) makeover. Highland Valley, say hello to your replacement: Kickstarter Country. Kickstarter Country is identical to Highland Valley as far as track configuration and buildings, but it's got all the newest gadgets and gizmos like industries and stations that actually produce and consume, fueling depots for locomotives that actually dispense diesel fuel and sand, or coal and water, doors that open to admit engines and close once they're inside, a graphics engine that will knock your socks off, particle effects like engine exhaust that flows through the roof vents of engine houses, not through the entire structure, plus rain, snow, and weather occuring in their appropriate areas, plus rain that flows off roofs and onto the ground, forms puddles, and even forms ripples when something disturbs any body of water. from the smallest puddle to an area of river! There are so many things that Kickstarter Country has, while Highland Valley can only wish for them. Too many to list here, You just need to see it for yourself.
