Hey Gentry, Could you do a video on strings, the difference between them, and how to choose? I'm finding myself really confused, and really hope you can help me (and probably also some other people) out. From a confused beginner
@ConnorSeals4 жыл бұрын
Most yoyo strings are fundamentally the same, since they all accomplish the same purpose. When buying yoyo strings, make sure that they are "yoyo" strings and not any other type of string. The main 3 materials for yoyo string are cotton, polyester, and nylon. Cotton strings are old school and are the softest. They wear out quickest and are overall the lowest quality. Polyester is the overall best material for yoyo string because its almost as soft as cotton, but it is much stronger and lasts much much longer. A high quality polyester string can last for dozens of hours of play before needing to change strings. Nylon strings are the most unique material for yoyo string, they are known to be the "whippiest" type of yoyo string, meaning they are easiest for "slack" tricks like "laceration," "hook" and "jade whip." I personally prefer polyester because it is softer than nylon and is overall the best, but a lot of people like nylon as well. Cotton strings are more or less considered obsolete in the modern yoyo world :]
@Gentrystein4 жыл бұрын
As a beginner, don't worry too much about which yoyo strings you're using. It really doesn't make much of a difference. As long as they are Polyester, you're good. The ones I have here are what's recommended for beginners. www.gentrystein.com/shop

It's really addicting, but the thing is, despite the fact that i think i got a solid sleeper, best i can do with spinstar is 15 seconds right now and i dosen't seem like i can improve much here tbh (i tried quite a lot with a stopwatch). Question is, how much sleep time can champ get out of spinstar :^)? Also, i got LED version, and honestly it looks like it's a bit unbalanced since it leans to the side with the LED dosen't matter the situation, even if you just drop it to just hang on the string. Is this an issue you or anyone aware of with the LED version? Anyway, if you reading this, all the best man, you're great.

I was all to eager to do not only get him one or like 6 so I can borrow a few to practice myself. I understand your desire to spark the new generation of yoyo champions pushing the limits. I stopped yoyoing around 1999 and honestly wish I had never stopped, but I was never able to buy anything better than a yomega fireball. The 90s.. lol. So the first time I saw an unresponsive yoyo was the one I got my kid and immediately needed to get him another for me to umm borrow. I imagine if I continued on with the proper equipment which was barely am idea then. But I want son to be inspired to continue this for alot of reasons. But the first is he has that style. We have recorded a few videos and I have alot of just me practicing. I have alot of questions and any advice to inspire my kid and any others that are interested in learning this art. I hoped that picture of Marzia and Felix a few months ago would cause a resurgence. While I don't really like the high speed style of these modern players , favoring a more relaxed style of Guy Right and Jensen Kimmit, I still can't believe the evolution from the days of my first influence, Tom Smothers. Now with the easy availability of high frame rate, high def video, tricks should be easier for all. I remember learning Kwijibo with a sketch and paragraph.
