Tip: put the over-the-door hook on the side wall of the bathroom stall, not on the door; purses have been stolen right off of the door hooks while the owner is "occupied", which is one reason why so many stalls no longer have them. An over-the-door hook visible from the outside would make it obvious there was probably a bag hanging on it inside!

One addition, I always travel with a folding fan. Just one of those inexpensive, made in China, folding fans. This has saved me so many times, especially when traveling in hotter climates. No batteries, no, plugging in, old-fashioned, but it works!

I will definitely try a hero clip instead of a standard carabiner. My tip is to bring 2 bungee cords. Use as a laundry line, attach to backpack to secure your travel pillow. Pre-threaded needles in basic colors on a business card with a button and a safety pin taped to it. That’s your sewing kit.

Great list... my suggestion though is that instead of using a "single purpose" over the door hook, have you looked into Hero Clips? They're carabiners with a hook built-in. They're awesome!! You can use them on your bag like a normal carabiner, but when you need/want to hang your bag (i.e. on the back of a bathroom door or from a table to keep it off the floor) then the hero clip can easily be deployed and handles the job well. But you can also use the carabiner function to clip anything to your bag. Multi-purpose. Great Video!! [EDIT] - I probably should've read all the other comments before posting mine because apparently Hero Clips have been suggested quite a bit. But I'll leave my post up. :)

Consider that using a hero clip in a public bathroom on the door sends the message to any thief that there is a purse or backpack hanging there. Smart ones can w one grab pull it up and whip your bag over the door and run. To me, NOT worth the convenience of having to replace passports, credit cards, drivers license or boarding passes. Nope, I’ll juggle my stuff if need be rather than take that chance. You can’t pop up and pull up your pants in time to open the door and tackle him or her.

Another tip is to take a small tube of moisturizer. My hands tend to get really dry while traveling. I now put some on before I fly and it helps. Also, for cruisers, take some small magnetic hooks. The cabin walls are usually metal so we use these to hang hats off of or for notes for family members saying we went for a walk or coffee before they woke up

Microfiber isn't actually earth friendly, sadly. While they do eliminate one time use wipes- They shed, well, micro plastic fibers that end up in the ocean. Something made of a natural material like cotton is an option to microfiber

I started bringing a couple of rubber bands on my trips. It helped me to “fix” a faucet designed with the horizontal flat bottom nozzle which allowed some water run backwards and flood the bathroom counter making a mess. Once I put the rubber band tight on the nozzle close to the opening, it made the water drip into the sink fixing the leak.

I recommend an eye mask for sleeping. I bought one for a trip to Finland when the sun would come up at 3AM. I now use it every night at home. I get one with memory foam that keeps the mask from laying on your eyelids. I carry individually packaged hand wipes, I use for places I can’t wash my hands an on airplanes to wipe down my tray table. I carry a small package of tissues and a small pillbox with multiple compartments for a few aspirin, sleeping pills, antihistamine and Pepto Bismal capsules. The pillbox comes in super handy for long flights or travel in countries where language could be a barrier.

Wish I knew about the tip of the water bottle prior to flying last month. Imagine my surprise when I went to take a drink out of my water bottle and getting soaked due to the water pressure. Not only did I get drenched but so did the people in the seat behind me. I was so embarrassed. The flight attendant said it happens all the time with those bottles with the built in straws (even with chocolate milk or juice from the kids bottles). She recommended unscrewing the top just a little bit to relieve some of the pressure. Lesson learned.

Same. The first time my husband flew a particular air brand ... In my sleepy stupor, I knocked over the complimentary beverage, soaked his pants. I felt so horrible!! So, prior to our return flight, I "promised" the airline experience would be better. Lord, behold ... I opened the bottle (straw), didn't know about the pressure build up at the time ... Liquid shot clear across the row ...luckily it was only him and I, but the window on our row and the one behind ours got soaked. He was vlogging and needless to say captured it all. If embarrassed was ever a person...my beet red face illuminated that screen 😮

Replace that Over the Door hanger with a Hero Clip size Small or Med its smaller, folds flat and hangs in more places and has many more uses! Also you can clip it on the strap of your bag so its always easily avalible saving time and energy. Its also a carabiner so it can replcae 2 items in your bag. I use wooden laundry pins for the curtains as they doudle for hanging laundry. Something I have to take with me also is Post-it notes, they cover so many needs. I cover the peep hole and the clock at night with them.

I use a Hero clip on my bag. I can use it to hang my bag on the bathroom wall and also off a table. Not meaning to be picky, but the air in the water bottle expands, not the liquid. It is Henry’s gas law. It pushes the liquid out when the pressure of the open allows it to search for equalization. Nit-picking, I know. (Flight nurse here happy to clarify).

Another option--works great for me in a little snorkel/scuba boat is ginger. (If your stomach can handle, yes, it's good for the stomach but also potent). The anti-nausea bracelets definitely work not only for traveling (car sickness, sea-sickness) but also for morning sickness keep in mind shop for a good one (read the reviews and any of them with instructions for first time users typically work) the pressure point has to go roughly 2 fingers width from the very top of your wrist press gently but semi firm for just a few seconds and it goes away hope this helps!!!

Pretty much bring everything that's on your list already. My favorite is the Hero clip! You can use it as a bag hanger but it does double duty as a carabiner. I use it to clip my water bottle and my snack bag to the seat in front of me on the airplane, as well as many other uses. I also never go anywhere without lip balm and keep several in my various travel bags. I never travel without my headlamp. I have a very tiny one. I find it super useful for many things such as for reading, (I noticed it's common that there's not a good reading light in hotels or air BNBS) It works as a night light if I need to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night. And if there's ever an emergency and you need to get out of a dark hotel having a headlamp it would be super useful. One other item I bring are single use eye drops. My eyes get really dry on planes and those are wonderful. Thanks for another fun useful video!

BTW, if you tend to get chapped lips...you may not be drinking enough water. I used to get chapped lips and secondary sores on a regular basis, but once I started following the Mayo Clinic water guidelines (for women, 72 oz of water daily; work up to it slowly and try to drink most of it in the early morning to prevent excessive bathroom breaks) that stopped. Definitely still wear lip balm for the SPF, though! :-)

The Hero Clip is a better choice for the hook. You’re able to clip it on a bag and it’s always easy to find to flip it around to hand on the bathroom stall WALL. Better than the Door as it’s closer at hand so you could even put your hand on the bag while you’re seated.

I also have little baggies to teeny baggies. A couple 2x3 inch and 3x5 inch for packing stuff up on the fly. And a snack baggie with a few tough strip bandaids and a roll of coband in your carry on. In case of cuts, stepping in something and blisters. Coband for wrapping the handle of your wheeled suitcase- if on an extended time on a layover or having to trot across the airport, any slight molding line in the handle can make your hand raw. Using a bright color also helps make your luggage more identifiable. Carry two doses of OTC painkiller with you, most can be gotten in sealed pouches.

Gravol ginger liquid gels (made in Canada) are the best natural nausea medicine. We used these during our whale watching excursion in Alaska on a rainy/ windy day. The ocean was very rocky, and we were on a very small boat but none of us had any symptoms of motion sickness at all. Apparently this is the #1 brand for motion sickness in Canada because when we flew out of Vancouver airport, every single store at Vancouver airport sells these Gravol ginger liquid gels. Do not buy ginger candies. The added sugar doesn’t help fighting nausea.

I have noticed those hooks attached lower so they can't reach over the top of the door and grab your handbag.

I prefer the platypus collapsible waterbottle, because it is transparent.

Nice flashlight! Great ideas, I’ve thought of a lot but not all. Are the laundry sheets scented or unscented?

The ones I get are unscented, I have terrible allergies to laundry and deodorant scents, etc. They do come in a scented version though 😊

I try not to take too much dramamine because it increases the chance of asthma. But I do take it for boats. One time we were on a bus and I didn't have any and my friend gave me TicTac mints and that really did help stave it off.

Micro fiber sheds micro plastics, better than wet wipes makeup remover;but still shed plastics. I just use some pieces of old cotton sheet. Or better yet discover the freedom of no make up, that really reduces your packing too.

Good to know! I have a bamboo washcloth that I use at home that works great... I need to see if they have travel sizes. But the cotton sheet is a great tip, thank you 😊

I use carabiners to hang my baseball hats off my backpack. Hats are essential for me when going to a sunny location, so having a tricky item to pack be easy access when I land is a win-win!

I add a strong safety pin to the inside band of my sunhats so I can carabiner them to the outside of my backpack.

I just returned from my 2nd workation in Isla Mujeres! I hope you enjoyed your time there. I love working from the beach there! Thanks for all the good tips on what to bring. The only thing I would do differently is bring a plastic over the door hook. TSA can get picky about metal items.

You can replace the carabiner and the over the door hook with a "heroclip" it's a rotating carabiner hook clip.

I usually don’t have motion sickness issues, but I used a wrist band on my first cruise, just in case. And the two evenings that we were out maneuvering a hurricane off the east coast of Florida, I added some non-drowsy Bonine. Glad I had both along.

Go for a hero clip instead of a single purpose over the door hook. Doubles as a carabiner when you need it.
