In Costa Rica small red poppers were the ticket. There's a small red berry that falls off the trees and these fish slam them. Got to throw them, like you said, under the cover for your best shot.

I keep these guys the common name in the aquarium trade are dovii or wolf cichlids how ever they are less commonly known as rainbow bass even though their a cichlid people should do some research before carrying on like pork chops,they are the most aggressive aquarium cichlid not many people manage to keep males with any other cichlids without them killing everything.

An Aussie would tell you to quit calling mangrove jacks mangrove snapper, or those little red spotted fish strawberry grouper... they're "coral trout".

That's not a rainbow bass not a bass at all

Sick vid! But please stop calling them bass😂
@Motivfishing4 жыл бұрын
So peacock bass are not actually a bass yet most people call them that even though they are a ciclid. Same holds true for the Rainbow Bass/Guapote/Wolf Ciclid.

New Guinea black bass would be called snapper here in the states. My pet peeve is here in Florida they call our introduced peacocks "butterfly" peacocks but they're not the true butterflies we catch down south, Cichla orincensis. In Brazil the guides call them "borboleta" and in Colombia "mariposo". The again, how many thousands of videos scream "Monster, Giant, Huge, Trophy" Florida peacock bass and they hold up a three pounder... it's downright embarrassing.

I was thinking the same thing they caught a jaguar cichlid not a tiger bass.

You literally named every fish wrong…none of the fish are bass they’re different genus of cichlid. The first fish is a Vieja maculicauda aka Black Belt Cichlid. Not familiar with the “mud fish”. The 3rd was another black belt..the 4th was part of the parachromis cichlid family. More then likely a parachromis friedrichsthalii aka Freddy or yellow jacket or parachromis motaguensis aka red tiger. The 5th which you wrongfully referred to as a tiger bass is another parachromis fish..the jaguar cichlid (parachromis managuensis). How do I know this? Because I’ve owned basically all south and Central American cichlid species and used to have them caught in the wild and shipped to the US. Either way looks like an amazing trip
