Sadly, no Giants have shorter lives. George was 7, and that was exceptional for a Flemish Giant. 8 is practically a miracle.

@@cymond Miracles happen. My daughter in law's lived to 14 years old and lived in an outside hutch too. Mine have never got past 5 years and my last one passed in the 2000 heat wave at two years old despite making every effort to keep her cool. All the local children were heartbroken as she was a well known and well loved local character. My grandchildren still talk about her with such affection and happy memories.

I adopted my rabbit when he was 2 months old. He turned 8 years old earlier this month. I adopted him when I was 10, and I’m 18 now. He’s like my son. When it was his birthday, I did become slightly depressed because of the realization that 8 years had already passed, yet it still feels like only yesterday that I adopted him. My mom noticed and told me to instead focus on the hopefully many years that the two of us will still have together. I’ll always love you, Pogo, even when the day comes that you inevitably have to cross the Rainbow Bridge.

I'm very sorry for your loss. My husband and I had a Rex and he always got out and found other bunnies in neighborhood including a female show bunny. Not long after the owner told us we owe bunny support but instead took two babies home to their daddy Bugs Bunny. We lost one two wild cats but our son kept other till he moved away out of state so we kept him and we loved those two like our own children. We lost Bugs one week before Easter. Still unsure how but I believe he choked on something. Then four days later I lost his son Gordo from GI stasis. I couldn't imagine pain any worse than losing them two. My husband too and after 2nd past away he fell apart. I bought a flemish Giant 2 mo. He was mad but fell for her quickly. I still cry over my last two but our female is helping deal with heartache. I wish you the best.

@@jodylayton-veuve3032 My neighbors found my Esther Bunny a few days after Easter hiding under a bush. She was a baby and a solid white albino. She had red eyes. They kept her in a tiny hutch on their back porch in the Florida sun. A hurricane was coming and I asked if they were going to take the rabbit inside. They said no, so I asked them if I could have her. I never caged her. I got her a litter box with bedding, a tunnel and a little tent and she became a happy bunny. My cats didn't like her, but she grew to be bigger than them. My one cat and her became buddies. I would find the cat and rabbit curled up in Esther's tent together. It was so cute. She had GI Stasis and being the 4th of July, I couldn't fiind a vet to see a rabbit. I had an appointment the day she died on the 7th.

She WAS a show bunny.... Gordo was all white with black spots all over and what's called a butterfly mark on his mouth and nose. I Never found out why Bugs died but Gordo watch it all happen. And I took him to visit backyard where his mama bunny was in hopes to cheer him up. During Easter weekend, but I picked him back up and didn't know he had been eating much and gi stasis was already starting. By time I tried getting vet to see him all said no not until that next Thursday. I begged even. He passed away that night. I was devastated and my husband to. We still haven't gotten over it. The tragedy really is how brief a time our pets are with us. There's real heart ache in the loss. Saw a video of a guy that adopted a orphaned baby possum, one of the adorable looking ones with what appear to be googly eyes, and I was blown away with how smart they are and the companionship they're capable of, but learned they only live two years! 😂❤❤

I first watched this video when my bunny was with me. The last quote from the video, really made me think about what I would do without my bunny. Now, this video came to my recommendation after I've lost my bunny. Life without her is just like a void. It just feels like I am drowning and there is no one to save me. Thank you Merlin for all the memories. I'll keep loving you till the end of my time and eagerly waiting for the time when we will meet again.

Five is senior for a rabbit this size. These large breeds were designed for meat and fur, not for living long happy lives as pets, unfortunately. At around age 5-6 health issues become more frequent and severe, and when that happens, it's either a severe health scare that does them in or the owner having to make the difficult decision to let them go because their quality of life has dropped to the point it can no longer be called quality.

I had a rabbit that lasted 14 years and I miss him a lot too. This is weird but randomly one day I saw a video from someone who claims to have been brought to heaven with Jesus and that person says that he could see animals everywhere and people would have pets with them so all pets do make it there. I just found so relieving to see someone witnessing that. Others went to heaven and returned as well and they say Jesus is not responsible for the bad things that happen in here but we are free. Idk just the thought of all the pets being there is so calming

🐰 🐰 🐇 He reminds me of my gray rabbit I used to have as a kid 😍. Peter wasn't anywhere near as big as this one. He was average size. But his mannerisms were the same. Whenever anyone would open the refrigerator door he'd come hopping into the kitchen as fast as he could and stick his whole upper body inside to eat whatever he could find lol. Whenever we would let him loose in the back yard he would never run off. He played around just like a dog. I miss him a lot. I would definitely recommend a rabbit as a pet. 🐰
