Geoff Grammond was a gift from the gods. Even back when computers barely had enough memory to store an icon, we had Revs and Stunt Car Racer, and even to this day the F1 games are still fun and a damn sight more approachable than what Codemasters think they're doing. But yeah, we used to watch the F1 on TV then play the race at 100% with 6 or 7 pals... such a great way to waste an afternoon! - if it wasn't for games like that, I think the 16-bits would have died a lot sooner, they had to go to war against consoles and needed ammunition like Stunt Car Racer and F1.

What's incredible is there was just 11 years between the first and last of these games, and they look light years apart, but there's been 20 years since GP4 came out...and, let's be honest, are they THAT much better than GP4, even visually? not really. And certainly in terms of the gameplay and technical authenticity, arguably GP4 is still the best in the business.

I still have all of them GP1 to GP4 on cd rom still in original boxes. I loved them. Can it still work on a modern Window 7 machine ? How would you install or run them without dos ?

I loved these games but gp4 burnt out 3 motherboards on the pc... the direct x just made it run so so hot ....definitely a head of it’s time

For me the first one is the most revolutionary ( for its time ) but overlooked due graphics. GP2, GP3 and GP4 are based on same basic principals with upgrades , graphics and introduction of weather with GP3. The mentality and vision was already there in GP1. What GP1 brought: 1- Functional mirrors 2- Realistic seating position 3- Instrument in the car on the cluster and not around in the screen. ( this is very important to me and can only be with a realistic driving position) 4-The necessity to stick to a strict racing line to produce any decent performance. 5- Car setup that really made difference the way the car went down and handled. 6- Realistic reproduction of a whole GP weekend. 7- Possibility of real distance ( 100% ) races. 8- Random car failure and ( relatively of course ) realistic car damage. 9- Unless games before it, it would take laps and laps to recover from a mistake or you may only partially recover 10- And the list goes on..... and on.......

Spent most of my early Uni years playing F1GP on the Amiga. Full 100% GPs. Spent most of my graduation year playing GP2, in between riding my girlfriend. Didn't spend too much time with GP3, but spent a lot of time after work with GP4 and Grand Prix Legends.
